2023-12-29 08:02:18 +0000 UTCtbh i really liked this mma. i also enjoyed mama just as much tho. i know im late, but i think mama got to much critism this year. that girl groups just had one song was weird yeah, but it didnt really bother me that there werent that much girl groups. i like both boy and girl ones, but last years mama had a lot more girl groups so that didnt bother me. and the godess stage i really liked, i mean they came together and did a song. the camerawork was also better then last year imo. (mostly if you compare it with sbs lol) so overall i really loved mama and mma this year. all performances were amazing.

I would go 1 step further. In Bad News they showed only 1 side of the story. So, biassed news. Twisting facts, or not showing all the facts. It's a clever wordplay as well really. At first you think THEY are the "Bad News", while in reality it's more literal: the news about them is "bad". I agree about the social commentary, that there are too many people jumping to conclusions without knowing the whole story, or putting things in the right perspective ("scandals", people getting canceled, etc). Lee Young Ji - What a legend. So nice that she got time for a couple of songs. - A bit abrupt ending though. - I agree about the muffled crowd volume StayC - About the camerawork. It seems all fine to me here, BUT I just watched the AAA today and there the stage was smaller and quite a few groups had 0 dancers, and yet I really noticed that the performances were all very energetic. You were more "into" it, you could follow everything. It might be because of all the moving/zooming shots MMA does here. I understand MMA needs these wide shots to show everything, because there's a lot to show. I liked the camerawork here but I also really liked it at the AAA. Simpler, but effective. Riize - I have to say, great pyrotechnics, and very well captured. New Jeans - Very interesting to have individual performances. - I love the superlong shots (1 takes even) - I also think it was the leader of WANT - Yes, Haerin is actually an Elven Princess 😋 (she's actually a cat) - your point on how different they are reminded me that someone made an interesting video about the different generations and the evolution of k-pop: https://youtu.be/MyizGnhylXA ZB1 - Nice to see Ricky again, since he was absent at the AAA (visa problems iirc) - Love this remix: drum and bass AND especially the strings 🥰 aespa - I love the breakdown, how it sounds (epic) and all the pyro and lights. My only critique is that there wasn't that much going on in the choreo imo. IVE - absolutely love these outfits. - yeah, the buildup in IVE songs is one of my fav things about them. - Sooo many dancers (flagbearers/marching band). - Your pronunciation of Gaeul was decent. Sounded a bit like "cowl" which isn't that far off actually. Try to make it "gowl" first, and then try to not pronounce the "w". - You really know where to pause, because those pause screens are amazing. Shinee - it looked like Taemin got beamed down a flying saucer. Love the shot from the back. - "shinee's back"

2023-12-14 21:44:42 +0000 UTC- SHINee they cheated LOL they took advantage of MMA to release their most popular songs and choreography. their most popular songs with one of the hardest and legendary choreas that our industry has EVERYBODY is a master piece. TAEMIN is probably one of the best dancers not only in kpop but I think in the world, if we add their experience and their charisma it's not fair to put them in a show with GG. in any case the MMA clearly put a slap in the face to the MAMA in terms of line up and performance I had a blast. SHINee won the much deserved prize. STAGE OF THE YEAR AWARDS - NCT dream good performance but I really think they should have gone before SHINee who very clearly have the main eventers. If I had scheduled this show I would probably have closed the evening with SHiNee, however it was still a very good performance and NCT dream has been making successful comebacks for about 2 years and each time they release very popular songs.

2023-12-14 19:59:51 +0000 UTCyes I also found it strange that ultra popular groups who had an excellent year like NEW JEANS, IVE, AESPA or STRAY KIDS for example did not perform at the MAMA awards. but this can be explained by several things 1 certain groups simply did not receive an award so they were not called to perform. 2 far too many groups had a great year so they had to make choices and not everyone could perform 3 certain groups had already booked concerts abroad and could not be present. - Congratulations again to all the groups and artists who received awards. and in particular NEW JEANS and IVE who broke a 12-year curse by winning the most important prizes Song of the year and artist of the year for New jeans and Album of the year for IVE. These two groups won 3 of the 4 most prestigious awards that an artist can receive in Korea. - KISS OF LIFE very happy for them, it's an accomplishment to already be able to perform on such a prestigious stage after only a few months of career. - Youngji as usual she dominates the scene I love her interaction with Yujin she became very good friends after filming Earth arcade and we see their complicity. she won the award for best female solo artist -STAYC excellent years also for STAYC they released very popular songs and won a lot of music shows. I love their songs, they really have the traditional "pure and innocent" concept that many people love in KPOP, they are so cute, they won the BEST MUSIC VIDEO OF THE YEAR. - in general KBS, SBS and Melon are very good for filming idol performances. SBS INKIGAYO is renowned as the best music show largely because the show's cameramen are excellent. they are cut to the millimeter to follow each artist during their respective part, to film the wide shots or the killing points of each Choreo. MNET should invest in recruiting better Cameraman or more precisely, better Director. -RIIZE very good performance always incredible when we have a live band to accompany the groups. I think that for big events like this there should always be live bands. - NEW JEANS what can I say they are the revival of kpop they won 5 trophies during this event including artist of the year and song of the year in addition to GG of the year. I loved their songs without more until she drops SUPER SHY this song is super addictive I can't get it out of my head. the mashup of all their hit songs was very relevant this performance was very cool and cute. Hanni was the cherry on the cake, she is captivating, I find her really charismatic and I am in love with her. yes I agree DG their songs are very indie, perhaps conventional and quite unusual for a super popular group like them. very far from songs like QUEENCARD or I'AM which are very catchy and very punchy songs - I'm skipping ZERO BASE ONE because I'm still not finished watching BOYS PLANET and I don't want to spoil the winners. -AESPA she is slowly taking the same path as Blackpink they are a bit sullen in South Korea but very popular in the world they have excellent album sales but she wins very few prizes in major events. but their performance is top tier like all SM artists. DRAMA is an incredible top 10 song of the year for me, it's all perfect, the lyrics, the choreography, their incredible voices, the rock version and of course their immaculate beauty. and I agree even if I'm horribly biased by IVE I also think that AESPA had the best performance of the evening so they fully deserved their awards for Best performance of the year. This performance and these awards is a big MIDDLE FINGER to they're haters.. -IVE I'll try not to be too biased but for me it's the second best performance of the evening not far behind AESPA, well first Yujin was perfect for the intro, then the baddie remix was also very cool, I often talk about Yujin and Wonyoung because I know them from their careers in IZONE. but Leeseo, REI, GAEUL and LIZ are also very charismatic, Leeseo's facial expression was lethal. in fact no I can't it was THE BEST PERFORMANCE OF THE NIGHT there was all a beautiful intro, a mashup of their songs a very beautiful interlude with a beautiful choreo, several dance breaks, costumes and accessories and a finale grandiose with a parade. DG you should do a recitation on their first full album on the occasion of their Album of the year awards. They leave MMA with 3 trophies

Still more male artists here but it was way fairer than MAMA and everybody also got a lot more time. KISS OF LIFE - Your correct Julie prediction is killing me rn 😂 - No, MMA is not affiliated with Mnet. This award show is hosted by Melon, the biggest music streaming service in Korea. Spotify can barely compete there. - Yeah, the audio is just like that. I watched a recording of the full award show and it was the exact same there. Props to them for full live vocals but those mics really needed to be turned up a notch. - The sheer power of Julie! You wouldn't think that she's a completely new idol who debuted less than half a year ago. - Yes, this is their first big award show stage. They weren't at MAMA as you know and neither did they attend The Fact Music Awards back in October. Lee Young Ji - Remember how much Youngji was against the idea of that „I am Lee Young Ji“ chorus back in Good Girl? Now she's here proudly peforming it on all the big stages 💪🏻 - Her energy is so infectious - Not Sorry is a song she performed on Show Me The Money 11. - I fucking love how she even gets the other artists hyped! STAYC - It's not just the stage setup, the camera operators are just better at their job here. - Can we just take a moment to appreciate Isa's stunning beauty? - Bubble is just such a feel good vibe, I love it. - And Teddy Bear was so good too! - You're listing off many of the reasons why I also enjoyed MMA a lot more than MAMA this year. The whole thing feels more competently made. RIIZE - No fucking way. He did it. That crazy bastard actually did it. He got a guitar 🤯 - The funk is real. - This is the advantage of having a central stage. No matter what angle you shoot, you always have part of the audience in frame. NewJeans - They straight up performed their entire Get Up EP. All six songs are here. - I like how they start off with some solo performances. Not too fond of the chipmunk version of Super Shy though. - Haerin has one of the strongest cases of „cat eyes“ I've seen in any person. That probably contributes to her striking visual. - ASAP is my personal favourite NJ song. The haunting atmosphere really gets me. - I don't want to make any excuses for the weirdness of Min Heejin as a person but you gotta admit, she's an artist. - What a flex to just perform an entire album here. ZEROBASEONE - The intro already feels magical. - They made In Bloom somehow feel even grander than it already is. - The stage is not as big as MAMA but they make much better use of it in every single performance. - The kings looking absolutely royal. As they should. - Can I say that they CRUSHED it? aespa - I can tell you from first hand experience, they look just as stunning in person. - Trick or Trick is a b-side from the Drama album. - This Drama remix goes fucking crazy. Wish they'd release it officially. - Nah man, you don't understand how insane their presence really is until you've seen them live in person. Fucking unreal. - SERIOUSLY THIS FUCKING REMIX DRIVES ME MAD 👁👄👁 IVE - Yujin understands The Gaze™ - Hearing Baddie now, I have to think of the challenge that Yujin did with Lee Youngji where Youngji put her entire body and soul into that high kick - Lachica in the house! - MAMA wishes it could have dance breaks this good. - Blue Blood is a b-side, the first track on the album and right before I Am. - If you think that the boy groups aren't getting quite as much love as the girl groups here, you obviously haven't gotten to SHINee and NCT Dream yet :D - I AM is that song that's gonna turn me into an emotional wreck in June. SHINee - Happy birthday to Onew! Hope he's recovering well and can join his group again soon. - Juice is number 8 on my most listened to songs on Spotify this year! - SHINee really be like yeah let's do a quick best of our discography. It is the 15th anniversary after all. - If there was ever a Kpop song that is the perfect representation of Summer, it's View. - THAT part of Everybody and the lasers going crazy as if this was a Prodigy concert. - I don't have much else to say. SHINee doing SHINee things and proving why they're the definitive kings of Kpop. - Just one thing: SHINee is and will always be five! But how they completely dominate the stage with just the three of them is so damn impressive. NCT DREAM - I'm so glad that SM decided to send their groups to MMA instead of MAMA. Because here they actually get the production they deserve. - The Dreamies descending from the heavens 🙏🏻 - „I hate singing“ Haechan, stop lying. You live for this shit. - Can Jaemin please stop seducing me? - ISTJ is a great song to end this show. - Holy shit the outro I already said in the DM that I enjoyed MMA quite a bit more than MAMA this year and I think you now understand why.
