Squid Game Episode 9 (Finale) - REACTION

Comments

When the show came out, I remember seeing people point out interesting little details of the show, and the ones where the characters' deaths were forshadowed in the second episode literally blew my mind 😅 There's so many other nuances in this show, such as the old man telling Gi Hun his name was "Il Nam", which in Korean translates to first man. This could mean that he was the first player, or it could be a hint that he's the original creator of the games. Also, in the first episode, Gi Hun is passionately betting on the horse races, but then he (and a bunch of others) basically become the horses when they enter the games, as the VIPS watch them and bet on their lives. Along with that, Gi Hun wins 4.56 million won from those horse races, and funnily enough, he ends up being number 456 in the games! And, the prize for the games is 45.6 billion won! There's so many more hidden little details and easter eggs that I'm sure I already forgot, but it's these that really hammer in the cleverness of the show. In terms of the explosion of the glass, I wouldn't say it was a lazy excuse. In terms of story, it did make sense why they would do it: the games are on a timer, so they wanted to make sure that once that timer runs out, no one is left standing on the glass. And whoever is still standing there and hasn't reached a finish line will have the glass explode below their feet. It's just that the ones who made the game didn't think it through that a winner could get stabbed, or just that they didn't care because they most likely would want to weed out the weaklings before the final round anyway (hence why they gave the players knives to fight until only two remain). In terms of the second season, I'm expecting it to be about dismantling the system, though there will for sure be another game. I'm kind of expecting Gi Hun and the cop to team up, perhaps he will find his phone and recover the data for evidence. It was also pretty much confirmed that the actor who plays the cop will return in the second season, so.. yeah 😅 I actually prefer this ending, despite people wanting Gi Hun to go after his daughter, I feel like this one makes more sense. And in the second season, I'm mostly looking forward to Im Siwan and T.O.P!

the ending is so sad. so realistic so abrupt. Gi-hun ultimately lost everything despite the huge amount of money in his bank account. he lost his mother, his daughter and his best friend, probably also part of his desire to live. shit between Stranger, from hell, Vincenzo and Suqid game you will think that South Korea is full of psycho. but rest assured DG fortunately it is only a small minority of people. - finally IL-Nam is the most basic "bad guy" that could be found, the jaded billionaire who has so much money that the only way he has to have fun is to play with the lives of others. a fact that is unfortunately all too real these days there is a list as long as an arm of people like that in our society, Epstein, Wenstein, Soros, Gates, Biden etc....

- I know the feeling. I feel like I spent half of November sick in bed. And always after a concert. Saw Oneus, got sick a few days later. Saw Babymetal and they wrecked my shit so hard I got sick on the way home from the concert 😂 Worth it tho. Let's see what happens after The Prodigy on Thursday. - Maybe you could alternate. One poll with your personal choices, the next one after with suggestions from the Patrons, then back to your choices and so on. Movie sounds good too. - Coming full circle in multiple ways. The final game is played in the same place as the first game. 456 players then, 2 players now. - Pocket Sand! - I like how they have these proper rules of the squid game but ultimately, it's just a knife fight. - No discombobulation here - Gi-hun just can't do it. His moral code is too strong. - Bitch, Judgment Day has been upon us for at least 500 years. When is your god gonna follow through with it? - Like Gi-hun's mum, this is basically how my brother found my dad back in March. Laying on the floor in front of the TV. I wasn't there myself but this is hitting very close to home right now. - Literal millionaire Seong Gi-hun, looking like a homeless man, asks his personal bank consultant for 10 bucks. - Rich people be like "I'm bored, lets have some random people kill each other for money 🤪" - I'm all for switching up one's style but that red hair does not work for Gi-hun - I'm honestly not sure how I feel about Gi-hun's decision to go back to stop the games or whatever. Part of me just wants him to go see his daughter finally. But another part also wants to see him topple the Squid Games for good. And I know this is a controversial ending among many fans. I guess we'll find out in season 2. - Lee Jung-jae (Seong Gi-hun), Lee Byung-hun (Hwang In-ho / the Frontman), Wi Ha-joon (Hwang Jun-ho / the cop) and Gong Yoo (the recruiter in the suit) are confirmed to return for season two. Further new cast members include: - Im Si-wan (Jong-woo from Strangers from Hell) - Park Gyu-young (Nam Ju-ri from It's Okay to Not Be Okay, the nurse who had a thing for Gang-tae) - Jo Yuri (Kpop soloist and former member of IZ*ONE) - David Lee (Seol Ji-won from Hotel del Luna, the serial killer) - T.O.P (Kpop soloist and former member of Bigbang) and a few others that you probably haven't seen in anything so far.

in reality I knew it but you see DG there was still humanity in Sangwoo. Gi-hun was going to make the stupidest decision that probably would have made everyone's deaths completely pointless. abandoned the game to survive which would have cost Sangwoo's life anyway. I don't think the game organizers would have let the two survive. Sangwoo by killing himself allowed Gi-hun to win this money with which he can keep his promise and provide a good life for his daughter, Saebyok's brother and Sangwoo's mother. In the end Sangwoo had a act of redemption and these excuses prove that he still had humanity. it was just too late to go back as he himself said during the fight.

the subject is super interesting I rather agree with you DG on the analysis you make of Sangwoo and Gi-hun however there are things that I want to add. I also think like many people that the person who most deserved to win this money was Saebyok. I also think that she saved the rest of Gi-hun's humanity and paid the price. Now, as I say very often, even if Sangwoo sacrifices his humanity to survive, he remains the least hypocritical. he assumes the fact that he returned to the game willingly to win this money even if it means killing everyone. while Gi-hun despite his obvious empathy for the other competitors does not accept the fact that if he is in this situation it is his own choice and that it involved killing or letting people die to survive and earn this money . I may be too pragmatic but he just had to not come back into the game and in that his humanity becomes above all naivety and hypocrisy. I in no way excuse what Sangwoo did to Saebyok for this action He deserves the hatred that people have for him. For me it would have been more subtle if he had let her die.
