No one hates Langris more than he hates himself right now. He wanted out of the Dawn, because he was starting to do some soul searching and realized he had not really earned everything he had on merit alone, in fact, it was more so his status, though William did see his talents for what they were. Langris wants no distractions while he tries to sort his mind out and to be fair to the guy, his parents groomed him to be the way he is. He would not have some decent qualities if he did not realize how wrong they were to coddle and prop him up on a pedastal. Not to mention we saw how envious he was of Finral; Finral had people who loved him for who he is vs Langris who was loved for his status and family name. It was a shallow, fake acceptance of him as a person. His words to Finral were more so to keep Finral trying to be a decent potential-husband to Finnes; I don't think Langris himself has any real intentions of marrying her.

2022-12-30 01:48:28 +0000 UTCI’m glad because earlier in the show they would just say “Langris wouldn’t act like that. He’s not that scummy!” While giving us no reason to believe it. However, here we actually see what they were talking about in that Langris… yes he can be a prude and he isn’t the best brother, but from the actions we’ve seen him take since the war, it’s much easier to see why people said this and why he had so many people who respected him. It’s a cool way to turn about a character, especially one you grow to hate so fast!
