You know if they'd kept the original premise of Shinpachi being Gin's disciple learning to be a Samurai. The first finale they did is more or less how I would imagine it would end. With Shinpachi going off on his own to find his own way. Instead he kind of got demoted to being a straight man. Not that I'm complaining, he does a great job at it.
