I know I'm kinda late, but I hate this about our community, gays hating/shaming other gays. Everybody's beautiful. I kinda understand how Nico feels. I'm really lucky meeting my partner, because he's the only one who accepted me, but before that, I get rejected all the time when meeting guys in person. I always get the "I wish you're your picture instead." lines so this really hits the spot. Send my hugs to Nico, and I hope he's doing great now.

1) There are lots of guys into 'bigger' guys, but you have to be up front about it. 2) Nico can't be all that shocked to get a surprised reaction when he has been portraying himself as radically different. If it was the other way around, and the guy liked bigger guys and Nico had lost lots of weight, he would be just as surprised. 3) This isn't about anyone other than Nico. Ripped muscle gay or chubby guy etc. it all comes down to how YOU feel about you. Nico really needs to change things for himself if he wants to be happier, whatever that means for him. But I think we all wish him well.

Yeah... I have been on both ends. I was in a similar siutation as Nico and i forgot to update my pictures. That was first.. Then i went on a few dates that the online picture and the person i met are literally two different people. Based on my first experience, i decided to try and hear out their reasons for using someone else's pictures instead of their own. The responses went from a similar depression episode to wanting to be someone else instead of themselves to low confidence due to community standards ( he was hot.. That one) to stupid pranks. Yeah.. Online dating is tough

Unfortunately grindr is not the place to be looking for actual love. it's probably one of the grossest dating apps i have. being a trans man on grindr is ESPECIALLY hard because people either fetishize or are disgusted. i'm sorry Nico had to find out how terrible it is the hard way. I wish him all the best in finding someone who actually enjoys his company no matter what he looks like. 💕

Poor Nicholas. I can actually relate a bit. Most of the people on Grindr barely talk to me because I don't fit the standard of the "slim twink" or "masculine muscle man". I'm a chubby boy with a bit of a fascinated of makeup, an effeminate personality, and a dream to be a drag superstar. And most guys there are turned off by that idea because they want a pipe dream. I find it hard to love myself because the community I am in is pretty shallow, unfortunately. Not to say that all of them are bad. Just those bad apples in the bunch. I am lucky if I find a person who isn't so much of a dickhead.(Pardon my French). Best of wishes to Nicholas, and thank you Song, for giving us this amazing comic. 😊

This is why I never got into Grindr or the other dating apps. There’s so much hostility and abuse on them. For a community that drives home the point of being inclusive and respected by the rest of heteronormative society, the LGBTQ community sure loves to tear itself down and be hypercritical of each other. I was lucky to find my partner in a face to face encounter; I doubt I would be in a relationship otherwise. 😯😕
