Aiko Art Plumpness Opinion Poll

Due to some people mentioning that they pictured Aiko a little squishier than her art displayed there's now variant art of her.

Check the attachments for the images, I recommend alternating between them in an image view to see the changes.

This is just for feedback, as I'll most likely make the plump version the base, and then people can just overwrite the art with the variants in the files, or I'll add an in game option to help her become trimmer or something? But feed back would be appreciated.

The change doesn't affect her kimono clad art much, only the width in some spots.

Pick as many options as you want in the poll that apply to you.

I'm the kind of guy who prefers the thin/athletic body types, (feel free to call me boring) so I prefer the original or the thicker. That said, I'm ok with any outcome so long as there's a reasonably easy way to set my preferred art to be displayed.

I think the plump version makes the most sense, from a design and character perspective, everyone knows chubby girls are warmer.

From my opinion the Thick Version is the best because she can use more meat on her bones but her navel looks still good there.

Personally I feel the original is on the plump side already. I say use this opportunity to appease the plumpies. We can't win em all.

Eeee... they're all fine, no great difference IMO. The "Thicker" version is maybe the best? But I wouldn't notice if the original or the other one were used.

The bigger the better!

I would add that most portrayals of yuki-onna I can recall have impressed upon me an expectation that they are generally svelte as opposed to pudgy, even bustier modern portrayals are reluctant to deviate too much from the classical Japanese ideal of the slim and elegant woman. It seems especially incongruous for a yokai to have to proportions of the Venus in classical western art, that's like putting minotaurs and harpies in cheap costumes and calling them oni and tengu...

tbh the origional seems a bit out of proportion once you look at the thicker one, like her arms seem to thin. Personal preferance im not a fan of the chubby one...

If no comparison had been offered I wouldn't complain about any of the versions. That said, I don't think that adding 'squishiness' is as simple as stretching out the waist and smoothing out abdominal definition; it should affect all of her proportions where body fat is usually pronounced, e.g. upper arms, thighs, buttocks. The altered versions look a little unusual with isolated pudge around her middle while everything else about her is supremely svelte. I suspect that for the entire character to look as balanced/consistent as the original she should have been designed and drawn for more pronounced curvature in the first place; something that I doubt to be practical via retrospective touch-up. I would recommend leaving Aiko as-is but taking away a lesson that guidance to illustrators should be (more) explicit if/when these details are so significant.

Regardless, her head and shoulders look too thin for the lower body on all versions. Making her plumper in the lower body makes that a bit more noticeable I guess, but even on the thin version her head and shoulders look tiny compared to those hips.

God ya’ll are boring. More cushion for the pushin’

The less fat the better

Bit of a nail-bitin’ photo finish, innit?
