Had to watch this because of my proximity to Festus and as a Missourian, there are TONS of places that have exotic animals just chilling on a farm. Had no idea it was because Missouri laws are so lenient, makes so much sense now. 🤯

2024-08-29 01:24:27 +0000 UTCSo I'm only a few minutes in on your first ep but as someone who has *worked with a chimp on a TV set* I thought I would give you a "yes, and" to your UGH NO CHIMPS PLEASE. I wrote on Lizzie McGuire, where we had a recurring chimp character! (Please note that I never wrote the chimp into an episode, because no.) -Only baby chimps are used on sets, because older chimps will indeed rip your face off. BECAUSE THEY ARE INTELLIGENT BUT WILD ANIMALS. (AND DO NOT BELONG ON SETS.) -Generally, a chimp handler has to act with the chimp even as a baby. I was writing with my older brother (former lineman, like 6'2", 300 pounds, beard) at the time. We were on the set as the chimp was visiting. As the handler explained they had to act with the chimp, the chimp reached out to my brother like it was reaching for its mother. And so my brother GOT HIS SAG card thanks to the chimp. If the chimp worked, then my brother had to work. -I can't recall the chimp's actual name, but his character name was Fredo. -I worked on subsequent tween shows where the "let's write in a chimp!" came up and it is ALWAYS LAZY WRITING. (I was also called a buzzkill and my contract was not renewed! Fun!) -I don't know what happened to Fredo. I hope he's enjoying his retirement somewhere, rippin' dicks.
