The Owlery - Are There Less Students b/c of Voldemort?

J and Ben answer the question - Does the first wizarding war lead to there being a smaller amount of students in Harry's year?

Technically Dean does have siblings. But it does still go along with your thought process regarding the war impacting the families as they are from after his mother married his step father. Dean's own father, a wizard (which his mother didn't know), died after refusing to become a death eater.

Question: What if buckbeak doesn't slash at Malfoy. It doesn't get sentenced, so it won't be there to distract Lupin, nor can they use him to get to Sirius and get him out.

Hey brother! Do you guys think that there are less ravenclaw, Griff, and slytherins then Huffelpuffs? Because they were more selectief and were looking to a specific quality, but Helga took everyone else. What are your thought? Greetings from Belgium! Ps. Please do a Europe tour :D

I think it’s important to take into account that even though at the time they were on the winning side, they were still fighting a war. Sooo many of the Death Eaters were captured or killed or just busy fighting. It seems like no matter who is winning or losing, war = less babies.

You forgot that Hermione is also muggleborn, so her parents would also have no idea about Voldemort, either . . . That is, until Hermione got her letter. Also, don’t forget that Draco is also an only child (& Crabbe & Gogle, too), & their families are “on the winning side”, in terms of Voldemort’s perspective, until Harry, that is. Also, didn’t Dumbledore also offer the Prefect to Ron to kinda give him more confidence in himself & not be 2nd to Harry again? 😉
