Just watched this.
The one take video sounds a bit similar to my experiences when I was doing theater. How you need to remember your lines and think about your body language, etc. There are differences as well, though. It was interesting comparing them.
You guys had only 2 hours of setting up and practising and executing the video in the actual place it was happening in. We had rehearsals in the actual place for about 1-4 months, depending on the director and where the actual performance was gonna take place. We did a lot of performances on a stage outside, in the summer, but you can't really practise there before spring... (I think it's kind of a Finnish thing - summer theaters, where the stage and the seats are outside.)
You had to think about the camera work and that the cameraman doesn't bump into things. We had to think about projecting our voice without microphones (and part of that is to always be facing the audience when you deliver lines).
If you fuck up on a one take video, you start over. If you fuck up during a live theatre performance, or someone else fucks up, you just need to continue, there's no going back.
I have so much respect for people who played the lead roles in plays (and you) and had to be on stage most/all of the play. With a smaller role, you can just take it one scene at a time, divide the entire play into sections when you're on stage and then in between you just need to remember your cues and your props to bring on stage.
I've also made one music video and a few short films. Just some school and hobby projects, though - I'm not saying what I've done is anywhere near the level of professionalism of the stuff you've done.
I just feel... like I relate to what you were saying, mixed with nostalgia, mixed with feeling inspired to get back to performance arts in one way or another.
Also, I was wrong about so many bars in my lyrical breakdown xD It was hilarious hearing you say what the actual lyrics were. I.e. I heard Zelda and you said Zilla (I've never heard of Coffeezilla, and there were a couple of new slang words again as well). Some of the interpretentations I made on my blog post were so wrong... But that's what you get for not posting the lyrics right away, now there's misinformation out there. ;D I had fun, though, so no hard feelings there.
I get that lyrics like yours are harder to post in written form, because of the multiple meanings of words (doubles, triples, etc) that are not always spelled the same. Thanks for posting them anyway, in the near future.
I'm not sure if I'll redo my blog post (as a separate post or editing the previous one), though, since I've seen this Twitch stream now, which I paid to see (about 4€ for a monthly subscribtion) and I don't feel it's right for me to write about stuff you said there, just like I don't write about stuff you say on Patreon. It's paid content, so it'd be doing disadvantage to your career if people started sharing this stuff somewhere else for free, and there's also a level of trust there that I don't want to break. Even if no one actually read my blog. Also, I've seen a couple of reaction videos and they catched stuff I didn't, so I don't know if I could be able to ignore what you said, separate what they said and give them the credit and then still find something new to say myself... We'll see.
