Hello guys! Welcome to a new monthly release at Artisan Guild!

These last weeks I was truly inspired of designing some epic Draugr, after exploring (once again in these 10 years!) some pretty famous ancient northen tombs in a famous epic game of Elder and Scrolls.
I have not much time for tabletop gaming, but when I feel I desire some set of monsters or a cool warband for GUILDS, I immediately have the urge to make some sketches and start making minis!
I'm was not sure of the composition of this set at the beginning, but I'm pretty happy with the final result. Even I was super curious of who where the core characters of this release, hahaha!

With the new slot system I have more to design the model and I lose less time in trying of making each set balanced. I have to protect inspiration to make sure every set is great and I can keep up, and while sometime this means smaller set, this leads to certain bigger or more epic Sets like this one!
This month I had the luck to be able to sculpt two heroes that are basically huge Epic Bosses. I really hope you'll like them as much as I loved to design and sculpt them! Say hello to King Skutagaard the Lich, and Thane Hulgrof!

After a 3 releases on the frozen mountains Skutagaard, I'm finally reveal the key missing character, great enemy of the people of this land: the ancient King Skutagaard himself.
The Lich Lord Skutagaard is a costant menace in these lands, and he is the same demigod who tricked the Frostmetal Clan into thinking he was the god of war (cursing the tribe and making them his immortal minions).
This huge set of undead have tons of modular weapons and options, and the 6 regular figures comes with and without helmets.

SKUTAGAARD DRAUGAR - LORE

Skutagaard Draugar (Modular Unit)
In the cold lands of Skutagaard it is customary to burn the bodies of the dead and to bury their ashes in tumulus. Outsiders believe that this is just a religious custom of the northern peoples, but the reason is much darker. In Skutagaard, when someone dies and a proper ritual is not performed, the Lich Lord can turn the corpse into a Draugr. Inhabitants of the wild lands beyond Birfost, the Draugar are faithful servants of the Lich Lord: an unstoppable force of darkness who seek to conquer the lands of Skutagaard, relentlessly attacking the various peoples who inhabit it. Immune to all needs, fear and pain, they are soulless war machines, with the sole purpose of killing and increasing the troops of the Lich Lord, until all Skutagaard is under their rule.
With most Draugar in the ranks of the Lich Lord, some ancient ones are sealed in olden tombs of previous eras, killing the incautious adventurers who dare to unseal their doors to seek fortune and relics.

Skutagaard Draugr comes with and without helmets.

Skutagaard Wrights (Modular Unit)
Wrights are spectral beings who haunt the nights of Skutagaard. Even if most Wrights guards ancient cairns and burial places, some of these ghosts sent by the Lich Lord have the task to seek powerful souls for their master, turning the victims into Draugar in the process. Wrights are born out of the regrets and hatred felt at the time of death by those who are turned into Draugr. Often Wrights are born on battlefields where hatred and regret abound.

Baldur the Invincible (Modular Draugr Champion)
Baldur is a direct descendant of Vordok the Paunch, one of the three Gods of Skutagaard which forms the Sacred Triad. He took his title by defeating the rentless attacks of the Draugar in Baldur’s Bridge dozens of times.
When the Lich Lord came back to life he clashed, like his divine ancestor, against the fallen king. His fate, however, was far more miserable: in the battle that took place in Jotunn Pass, Baldur and his troops were defeated by the Frost metal, falling under the hammer of Gothrak Doomfist.
The Lich Lord converted Baldur into a Draugr, but because of the fortitude of his soul he kept his sharp mind and strategy, which makes him an even more fearsome enemy.
Thanks to his incredible nature and intelligence, the Lich Lord made Baldur the general of the Draugar.

King Skutagaard - The Lich Lord (Epic Boss-like Draugr Overlord)
King Skutagaard was the heroic warrior who subjugated all the peoples of the northern lands that later took his name, the cold lands of Skutagaard, conquering by force all those who opposed him. When his power and dominion reached its peak, like every mortal, he had to come to terms with the passing of time and, not wanting to die, he made a bargain with the superior demon Draiken Zestirot, the father of Animancy. Slowly, the king's soul was corrupted, turning him into the first Lich, Overlord of the Death.
His life, and his dark domain, was broken after an obscure age by the rebellion of the free people of Skutagaard led by the Sacred Triad… or so it was thought.
As minor deity, the Lich Lord couldn’t die so simply: defeated, he had retreated waiting to regain his powers. After centuries of waiting, the opportunity arose when a clan of Orcs and Ogres settled in the lands beyond Birfost. The Lich Lord Skutagaard tricked the Orcish clan by making them believe he was the God of War and Ferocity Duum. Gifting them the cursed blade Helsword, he managed to make them swear their allegiance by turning them into the Frost Metal, cursed immortal beings in constant search of souls and bodies to feed on. With this new army the Lich Lord began to accumulate souls and power until he was able to rise again. Since then, his army has grown uncontrollably and the war to regain his former dominion has begun.

Thane Hulgrof the Drowned (Epic Boss-like Draugr Hero)
Hulgrof was one of the most illustrious dwarf general of the north. He was a real thorn in King Skutagaard's side during his lifetime. Hulgrof and his fleet of Drakkar were sunk during an assault on one of the king's islands by catapults, in the battle of the Holy Triad against the evil monarch.
Centuries later, The Lich Lord Skutagaard needed a mighty warrior to conquer the throne of the Dwarves of Skutagaard, and the sunken body of Hulgrof was the perfect vessel: as a punishment and to emphasise his hatred for dwarves, King Skutagaard cursed the remains of Hulgrof bounding it with the souls of his dwarf comrades.
Hulgrof became a giant abomination, driven by the regrets and hatred of the dwarven souls that made him up. Hungry and insatiable he hunts his favourite prey, the dwarven people of Skutagaard. Over time he and his warband of Draugr has become a plague and a great dishonour to the dwarf people.

Bodil the Wright (Wright Heroine - Fantasy Pinup)
She is said to have been the fourth wife of King Skutagaard, sacrificed by the king himself to seal the pact with the superior demon Draiken Restirot. Hatred and regret at having met such a miserable end turned her into the first Wright ever born in the lands of Skutagaard, and for over three ages she has wandered the cold lands hunting for young brides.

This month the pinup slot is more heroine-oriented than usual, we have plenty of months to make regular Pinups afterall :)

Draugr Coffin (Scatter Terrain)
Given the custom of burying the dead in tumulus, Skutagaard is full of cairns and ancient tombs. These burial sites are filled with coffins and sarcophagi, which were used to bury the remains of ancient nobles and warriors, often with their most precious wealth and weapons. It is not uncommon for the various kingdoms of Skutaagard to send expeditions to clean out and seal these mounds, home to so many Draugr that pose a real risk to the surrounding areas.
