This month I'm pretty excited: it's my 33 birthday and all I wanted for my birthday was a new unique looking set of my favourite fantasy race, the Dwarves!

I'm so happy that they turned out good, my expectations were so high after the Oathbreaker that I was not sure to be able to manage this challenge.

This set is the continuation of the previous month in Skutagaard, the Svartwood Trolls, and its about a clan of proud and stoic dwarves who try to survive in the harshest condition, surrounded by natural foes such Giants and Trolls, holding off the menacing clutches of the Immortal Lich Lord, and his warlike Frostmetals Orcs minions.

As always, all battle figures are modular, so you can swap across many different dwarven runic weapons, which are by the way perfectly matching all previous dwarven releases (including the dark dwarves).

DWARVEN MOUNTAINEERS - LORE

Dwarven Mountaineers of Skutagaard (Modular Unit)
The proud Dwarves of Skutagaard, tempered by the cold winds and thousand adversities, are excellent hunters, warriors and artisans who have settled in the core of the Skutagaard mountains.
The Mountaineer’s clan is one of the few clans to live in the surface, in a Dwarven village called Huskald, built on the slopes of snow-capped mountains. Each Dwarven Clan is administrated by a Jarl, a powerful and charismatic leader who is vassal of the elder Mountain King, true ruler of the Dwarves of Skutagaard.
The Mountaineers, thanks to their natural toughness and resilience, are extremely skilled in chasing and  taking down large animals and monsters, whose resources are used to improve their equipment and nourish various dwarven Clans throughout Skutagaard.
By living and hunting in the outside world, the Mountaineers of Huskald established bonds of exchange with different ethnic groups, or, in other cases, a continuous battle as against the Svartwood Trolls and their King Drugvandel.
While this is a menace that the Jarl of Huskald and his mountaineers can keep at bay, the entire army of the Dwarves King will be needed to protect Skutagaard from the clutches of the corrupt Lich Lord and his terrifying Frostmetal Orcs and Ogres.
Dwarves who defeat the fiercest monsters are given the sacred Huskald Ceremonial Mask, which is said to accompany these warriors even to their cairns, when their souls reaches their ancestor in the Great Mead Hall.

Dwarven Ram Riders (Modular Unit)
Slower than a horse but certainly more tough and resistant against the frozen winds, rams are perfect for moving between the rocky Dwarven domains or the icy lands of Skutagaard. Thanks to their thick coat, the cold is not a problem for them, and despite their size they prove to have considerable strength, being able to withstand very heavy loads over great distances.

Ulfgar Runekeeper (Dwarf Runelord Hero)
Each rune keeper chooses from among the most talented dwarves those who will become his students, and if capable, future rune keeper of the clan. For this reason, only a few clans can boast a runic master among their ranks and fiercely protect their runic techniques and secrets.
Not only is Ulfgar able to use advanced runic forging techniques to enchant jewels, weapons and armour, he wields the secrets of the runes even in battle, blessing his allies and crushing his foes.
He deeply hates the Svartwood Trolls for kidnapping his apprentice Toraf and put their hands on runic forging techniques.

Gerta, Jarl of Huskald (Dwarf Jarl Heroine)
Gerta became Jarl of Huskald after the death of the previous Jarl Rothar at the hands of Grothak Doomfist, Warlord of the Frostmetal Clan.
Benevolent to her people but ruthless against her enemies, Jarl Gerta is feared and respected throughout Skutagaard as an unparalleled fighter, blessed by the gods and wielding legendary weapons enchanted by Ulfgar Runekeeper. There is no blow that can break through Gerta's shield or an enemy that hasn't fallen by her Runic Sword. If a Dwarf King die by age or battle, a new king or queen is elected among the Jarls; it is said that Gerta would be the favorite if a new king were to be elected.

Lok-Ghobar / Gerda on Lok-Ghobar (Epic Beast/Mount)
Faithful companion of Gerta, Lok-Ghobar is a fierce royal ram of Skutagaard.
Agile and powerful, Lok-Ghobar is a perfect steed both for running through the frozen lands and for fighting the mighty enemies of the Mountaineers clan. Royal rams boat greater size, larger and intricate horns, and allow them to be ridden only by those they recognize as their master, furthermore, once a bond has been created, it will be indissoluble.

Gudrun the Skald (Dwarf Pinup)
The passion for banquets, mead and tales of heroic deeds accompanied by good music are some of the reasons why it is not at all rare to find skilled bards and storyteller among the Dwarven people of Skutagaard. Gudrun delights the nights of the village of Huskald thanks to the melodies and tales of the glorious clans.

Ancestral Dwarven Cairn (Scatter Terrain)
Ancestral cairns are the tomb of the most valiant Dwarves of Huskald and the Mountaineer clan.
Jarl, rune keepers and great warriors are honoured and remembered so that their deeds can forever inspire the clan. Among the living hunters, those who have obtained the sacred Cerimonial Mask of Huskald have earned the right to be buried in the ancestral Cairn.
