Im a little upset about the file hosting situation. I have had issues with SYNC from the very start of my Artisans Guild subscription; I would download file folders or zip compressions and find out after the fact that the website had just dropped files and so i wasnt getting complete sets. I found missing hands, weapons, even some full models and so I got into the *extremely* tedious habit of downloading all of the files individually so I could make sure I wasnt missing anything that I could never download again without paying for it twice. Now this month there are ONLY compressed zip folders available for download and I not only dont have a guarantee that Im getting everything I paid for, but im fully expecting that to be the case. If youre not going to host these files on a better service then please put up the individual stl files so I can at least control the issues.

I really like this release. I am fitting it into my army nicely. Printing the Cav mounts now for my undead monster mounts. I am sure you get tons of requests, but it Sure would be sweet if you did an Undead release one of these months. Skeletons are my Favorite army type Thanks again for all the work, I am still fairly new to 3D printing, your stuff is awesome

I didn't need to enter a code to download this month's release, not sure if that was intended or not - but very fast and simple process. Much better performance than sync. Weird UI, odd file naming when zipping, but all in all better.

hello Anton! We had dropbox. But even on the best premium plan it couldn't give us enough traffic. Basically every few thousand downloads our account would be blocked for 24 hours, definitely something we had to get rid. Same for most of the other services. Traffic unlimited services we found are actually Sync and MyAirBridge, wich is probably the most expensive (but it works and we don't get banned lol)

That's not meant badly, but the same problem every month, downloading almost all folders separately. Why not just a link for a real Dropbox. Yes it costs over 2GB money, but it saves a lot. and the 2tb variant even has a password function ...

Let me know your settings and what fails you are getting, files are tested on 3 different printers, so you can call "bullshit" but honestly the issue is with your settings not the supports. I'm more than happy to help you get the proper results though!

Tail printed just fine for me. My only issue is, I seem to have both claws as wanting to be on the left side. I will have to mirror one, but which one?

Is anyone else having issues printing the scorpid king tail? I have use the pre-supported model twice, and both times the section before the last gets smashed, like it isnt well supported enough. the entire tail prints fine, except the section before the tip of the tail.

Maybe you should explore offering 2 tiers with tier A costing an extra $2 and being released at the start of the month and tier B costing $2 less and starting 1-2 weeks later. Both tiers running for 4 weeks from their respective start date.

Airbridge seems pretty smooth. The two criticism I have for it are: the jumbled name, not sure if i can just download part of it (i like to just take the pre supported files).

Didn't have to input a password and I don't think that that works as intended. Also I really don't like the random jumbled name the zip has when downloading the files. As someone who has a messy downloadfolder with many random zips for drivers ect this is a bit annoying. I will also say that I think I never had trouble with the download from Sync. The problem was the calculation of the zipping.

You should provide pre-zipped files of each of the support and non-support folders so that sync doesn't have to zip them which takes forever and often fails.

Downloaded without issues from MyAirBridge. Finally! One idea, as there often are some errors each month, that are corrected later on (which is fine), how about creating a new "update" archives, that have same paths and filenames as the full releases, and contain only files that were actually changed? So that you can unextract it over the full release, and have broken models fixed. If there's another error spotted later, add the new AND old changes, so that we can always "patch" any older release.

Dunno if anybody else has tried this yet, but the Chitubox-presupported right Claw of the Scorpion King is another left Claw (altho it is the design of the right one)!!!! don't be as dumb as me and only realize when it's already printed! :D It needs to be mirrored - I guess something went wrong there during presupporting.

I have probably the slowest connection of your Patrons, with my best speed at 11mbps and usual around 3-5. Sending telegraph messages is faster. I had managed to, after a couple dozen tries, get Sync to work. That said I tested this to see how it work and to let you know. Simply put, MyAirBridge worked better than anything else I have tried or used with other Patreons. It took 30 minutes to download the 2+GB file with no errors and my family of 5 using the same connection at the same time. That is not a complaint, that is amazing! Thank you for supplying this service. Not that I wasn't before, but I am now 100% an Artisan Guild fan. If you ever need help testing services let me know. My connection should be a good stress test.

Airbridge worked very well. Downloaded all 4gigs in a few minutes. I don't mind unzipping and deleting the stuff I didn't want such as the unsupported files. It still much better and quicker than trying to use sync

Agreed, this is vastly superior to Sync. I'd probably say this is also easier and better than MyMiniFactory, if it's viable from a cost basis, I'd say stick with MyAirBridge for now at least. The download speed was superb, almost using up my entire 1Gbps link :).

As far as I can tell there doesn't seem to be a way to download just a single file from AirBridge - it wants to zip and send it all, or send each file individually through multiple downloads. Basically 4.35 GB instead of the 1.2GB for the pre-supported zip by itself. At least that's what I determined from their UI - which sort of lets me select a single file but then only gives me the option to download the folder as a zip or individual files. Maybe placing the zip into its own folder would work, since AirBridge has this concept of "download the folder, not the file" apparently.

Pretty sure they were suggesting that downloading all the files on day one is unnecessary. The files are available for a month, and don't vanish from your hard drive. Waiting a few days won't slow people down too much.

If you published a read-only Resilio Sync link, I would certainly use it and keep it running. If enough people did the same, you'd have distributed downloads that didn't rely on a central downloading service at all.

Yeah, we are all trying to download the files at once, so it maxes at 1MB a second download due to bandwidth. So...maybe a few people have gotten the files. But it will continuously fail for most of us.

You are not missing something. They put the .zip in there containing all of the files, which makes it impossible for us to simply download each folder individually (which seems to be the only way to download from Sync imo).

How about everyone just read the whole post before complaining? They stated (and not for the first time) that they are working on a solution with myminifactory for the future downloads. They already try to do, what most of you are proposing. Stuff takes time. You don´t have time to restart a sync download? Guess what: They do try to find a solution. At the same time, they model a complete, totally awesome set of 3d models for next month. Plus taking the time to make additional stuff, like cavalry models, or presupported old releases.

Well, I don't know how much you are paying for the Sync services, but you could easily get a dedicated server somewhere, with a 1Gbps unlimited bandwidth, and host all this yourself. Or, contact one of the many CDN services, such as Fastly, CloudFlare etc., and see how much it'd cost (you can easily calculate the download costs based on subscribers multiplied by file size). But a CDN would likely cost you about $0.20 / full download (maybe that's too much, but it'd be the best user experience).

I honestly haven't had any issues downloading from you guys or the other 7 patreons I have through Sync. Someone told me if it doesn't start up in a few seconds of clicking the link to try again. It works! It only takes a few clicks. As for the speed of the download, it's no different from MMF or Google drive. I have a 1tb connection and it's all the same.

Honestly, a password protected fileshare site is a pretty easy and cost-effective solution that could be stood in a public cloud like AWS. It would scale with demand and even provide caching capabilities to assist in download speeds to patrons in various geographic locations. This would provide a much better day one experience for patrons who may be frustrated by the performance of sync which clearly is also not equipped to handle your level of traffic. Just some food for thought from someone who works in the cloud-computing industry.

Might I suggest splitting the pre-supported zip files into "STL" and "Chitubox" folders, so that the download for each is much smaller. I realise this a labour, but the combined files are 2x the size of the unsupported zip, and given the problems with downloads, perhaps more people downloading 600Mb instead of 1.2Gb would be a help?

If you haven't noticed, the presupported right claw needs to be mirrored on the Y axis to fit the body right. The left claw doesn't seem to have the same issue.

FYI: The Presupported Scorpid Right Claw needs to be mirrored on the Y axis to fit correctly on the model. The unsupported model has the correct orientation for the body. Check for yourself before printing!

When I've understood it correctly, the "Titan Forge"-Deal with MMF is what AG want too. I think the MMF is testing the system with Titan Forge and when it works fine, it'll be offered to other patreons.

small note: the Scorpid_King (Hallowed) (Supported) stl file is also the saddled version. if you want the no saddle printable body then use the chitubox file and make the stl.

No worries I can wait it out. Thank you for the insight into why this keeps happening, it makes complete sense. Have you considered doing something similar to what Titan Forge is beta testing? They are just file releasing directly through MMF and so far its been pretty good. I am in no way telling to "do it like the other guy" but I imagine that your issue with SYNC was the same as theirs and that is why they decided to drop their file transfer system and use MMF instead. Keep up the good work and thank you for all the wonderful miniatures.

Took a while, and had to restart stalled downloads multiple times - but we did manage to download the set. very, very nice, though we will be reversing the 3d models for Namur Makir's hands - since we want him as a full rakshasa, and that pipe definitely looks better in the upraised hand. If you find the time - including reversed versions of each of the hands will be very helpful for specific rakshasa builds. (Going to use the Princess as is, and hope that the players don't notice. :P )

I do no understand why people always rushing to get the files on day 'one'. Be patient... wait a bit (like I do), and you will really never experience issues. The more you wait, the more stable would also be the content. I'm far behind printing already the stuff of prior months, also from other patreons. Are you all up-to-date with all this stuff... this also includes painting. I guess, it is nearly impossible to get this all done in one month, so there is no real reason to rush....even if these are amazing models... they will still be amazing in some days 😏

I appreciate you trying to get files to us asap. These issues must be frustrating. It might be worth delaying the presupported files a couple days or hosting them separate to limit impact as they are much larger part of the download. Also, I know I was able to get my files for another patreon using same site using smaller files they had hosted along the big zip. Might be worth having seperate smaller files as I know I have it get to 100mb and start over several times. also, I would assume you have looked into having a hosted website for files or something like that instead of these services.

Another "big" pateron artist uses it but his files are large single models. I guess that is where the difference lies. But for reference, you dont need an account to download from the site.

AG needs around 20TB/month and Mega "only" allows for 16TB (and I think each patron would need a Mega account). Maybe wetransfer pro or massive.io would be usable, but for a price of around $6000/month...

I have another Patreon that is delivering their monthly release this month on MMF. So I am not sure why MMF are saying to wait till they come up with a solution to something they already do.

The files will be available until Oct 31st. If you don't get them day one, you're not going to miss out. I always wait a couple days to download files from Patreons that use Sync and I never have issue. Try again after the weekend and I'm sure it will be fine.

Doing a day-one release via AWS S3 and then subsequently shifting to Sync could resolve a lot of these issues!

The problem doesn't come from AG... Every single month, in a few hours interval, AG, Titan Forge/Cyber Forge, Archvillain Games and other smaller Patreons release their files through Sync. That must be 20-25K clients trying to access files at the same time. What is worrying is that Sync is supposed to provide file access. That's their job. That's "all" they do. And if they're not able to handle 25K accesses in peak time, they should rethink their whole architecture... Oh, I'm sure there is actually more than 25K clients (STLs are not the only files Sync are hosting and Patreon is not the only traffic source), but when you're trying to be a small scale content delivery provider and you fail to do just that, there is an issue... Dropbox, Google Drive or even Mega all provide better service (in my opinion), but they also limit bandwidth for their customers, which is why all major Patreons had to find another provider. I know this isn't a usual way of thinking, but shouldn't STL Creators on Patreon take a moment to gather and think about something else, like hiring a few consultants and develop a service relying on AWS or other "real world" CDN to host their files? I mean come on... Just do something.

I've been retrying the download all day on a gigabit connection with no luck. Sync needs to implement a download queue or something because this is ridiculous.

Ritual Casting uses itch.io, their a much smaller Patreon so it's not much of a test in terms of bandwidth, but the setup is nice. But, similar to MMF you have access to download even after the month is over. At the very least if AG offered other options in addition to Sync, like Google Drive, it would lift some bandwidth burden for Sync.

People, AG has over 6,700 patreons as of now, and they are ALL trying to download the files at once. If you're having trouble, the simplest solution would be to just wait until tomorrow once all the early birds have their files and the bandwidth opens up a bit.

It wasnt even a print error for me, it was a file error. It just gave me an unspecified error code and removed that file from the zip. So unfortunately i guess i'll have to go for the re-download.

Put it all on MMF give Patreons the code for free download? This new Zip does not work. If we can't download what you create, this will fail. I really like your stuff but this needs to be fixed.

sync was awesome in the beginning. but lately even when i use a vpn it gets stuck. ill get halfway through a download for it to reset and start from scratch. mmf however downloads fast for me with no pauses.

Slow download is infinitely preferable to no download. Slow eventually finishes, sync requires babysitting and then fails anyway.

You're just lucky to get the files... When *trying* to download a zipfile (yes, one zipfile at a time...), the connection just keeps resetting. Or, sometimes, I get a download working. At around 40KB/s. When I downloaded 3GB from dropbox at 30MB/s just minutes before.

Of course this "separate files download faster" is simply because Sync sucks. On any proper file sharing service, it's faster to download all at once (assuming you want to keep them eventually, and not just get few files you want)

Dropbox limits how much can be downloaded from a shared folder within a single day. This limit is much much lower than what AG would need for the size of their patreon. Instead of having a slow download you would just get a message saying downloads are impossible for the rest of the day if you got there too late. Don't get me wrong, I hate sync as much as the next person but unfortunately dropbox just wouldn't work for Artisan Guild.

Sync won't even give the option for choosing individual files on my end. I just get the first page and upon selecting presupported or non supported it just tries to download the 1.2GB file.

@Sean It's because of bandwidth limitation, not number of users. But still, as you said, I worked for 2 quite big MMORPG in the previous years, and I can assure you that serving 7000 simultaneous users is not that hard. Try the same thing with 30-60K impatient gamers...

Yeah... Like, you've got 2 zipfiles and a text saying "download one zip at a time", and plenty of people mess up downloading one file at a time... Sync sucks. You may have more luck because you're near their servers, but do not blame "users" in this case...

Come on... I was downloading another Patreon previous release on Dropbox at 30MB/s. Now, every attempt to download ONE zipfile from Sync fails. It starts and just fails. You biggest competitor (having more subscribers than you) is using MyMiniFactory: you could take a look at this solution (even if MMF also has issues under heavy load). Please, do something: being unable to download models means patrons pay for something they cannot get...

Give it a day or two, everyone is downloading from Sync on day one. It's like gaming servers on the launch day; it will never be easy to get on. Sync is fine when it's not being hit by the 6,600+ clients at the same time. AG have already stated they can only use Synce because of the amount of hits they get.
