Wintergatan Patrons Update October 7th, 2020

Hi everyone, Martin here, hope you are doing great!

Next week I will be announcing that we are Licensing all Wintergatan Music and making it available for anyone to use as Video/Livestream background music on any Internet platform, YouTube included.

I just wanted to let you know first since this is really because of you, thanks to all your support that we are available to do things like this.

On the Free Download/Pay What You Want Section you can now find four new products:

- License to Use the Music Of Wintergatan for video and Livestreams
- Wintergatan Original Music Complete Collection
- Wintergatan Build Tracks - Music from Building the Marble Machine X Series - Previously Unreleased
- 21 Mechanical Instrument from Speelklok Museum - The songs we recorded in the Speelklok Museum

I wrote the music license myself, so there is no hard to understand Lawyer Language in there, if you are planning on uploading videos with Wintergatan music i really do recommend that you read the entire license carefully. We have had issues with third Party Content ID Claims on youtube, this is all explained inside the license, if you encounter any claims like that, follow the procedure described inside the license and let us know at management@wintergatan.net

In my experience, finding background music for video is always  such a drag! :)

Even if the Wintergatan music isn't always fitting your projects, maybe it can help out from time to time, that is the whole intention behind this project.

Thank you for supporting Wintergatan and Have fun Creating!

/Martin

PS, new MMX episode out today at 16.00 Paris time, brutally disassembling a lot of parts, enjoy ;)

Wintergatan Patrons Update October 7th, 2020

It is often said that in order to avoid fatal errors, one must strive to avoid all errors. This seems to be in contradiction to what I said above. But this is not true: The "one must try to avoid all errors in order to avoid fatal errors" technique is meant to be used after all obvious measures have been taken to avoid fatal errors. In your case, there are obvious precautions which avoid the largest part of all possible fatal errors. After fixing these potential error sources, the above saying becomes true. And then it's about hundreds and thousands of operating hours to find the most unlikely cause of error and bring the error rates down.

Philip Bechtle

Probably something which was already said very often is that you should distinguish between fatal errors and errors. In a world of limited resources, it is important that you first focus on bringing down the rate of fatal errors to 10^-7 or so, and then focus on bringing the rate of errors down as much a possible. E.g. putting a stronger spring between the rods and marble shuttles and the place at which the pins in the programming wheel intact, if you know what I mean... under normal operation conditions this spring does nothing, it does not extend. It has to be tuned in its preload and consistency such that it allows the machine to be blocked without destroying magnet pins or other parts, because the spring just extends and releases the black and white bars against which the pins interact. Such, you first try to completely avoid fatal errors, and then run the machine for countless hours with the motor (and analyze the music your computer automatically and find errors in the music, if possible) and find all causes for non-fatal errors.

Hi, I'm just posting this here because comments like that get lost on YouTube, where I also posted it. Since Martin talked a lot about error rates in the last videos, I thought I'd add something which in principle is obvious, I hope you considered it, but just in case:

I just bought the songs and the track wasn’t there... anyone know where to find it?

You're too good, Martin. ;_; Thank you so much!

Marsh

I can FINALLY have the music from episode 60! IM so HAPPY

That’s fantastic, thanks so much for making this available. P.S. I believe too!

I should buy a license because I use Starmachine 2000 as my ringtone :)

That's really great. Thank you Martin 😊💜

It's only Wintergatan music, no Detektivbyrån.

This is so wonderful Martin, thank you!

Thank you Martin. You and entire team are an inspiration!

Martin and all: You folks are really generous. Thanks to all of you.

Ascetic

Thank you Martin!

Does this cover Detektivbyran as well?

The Track list on Vol1 has a formatting error, where Valentine is not a separate track.

Hi guys, Chris here from Team Wintergatan. It seems Shopify has been acting strangely the first 30min , but I just tried it and it seems to be behaving now. Hope it'll work for you too!

Getting the exact same :'(

When trying to check out the license in the store, it says: "License To Use Wintergatan Music for Video and Livestream Background Music - Sold Out". Am I doing something wrong or is the store misconfigured?
