A Question to all Wintergatan Patrons

Hi Everyone hope you are doing great! Thanks again so much for your invaluable support for the Marble Machine X Project. We are thinking about giving  the Wintergatan Patreon page a little overhaul, I want it to reflect better how thankful we are for your support.

We have a question for you:

What kinds of rewards would you love to see on the Wintergatan Patreon page?
If you have any suggestions, please let us know in the comments on this post.

Mostly this Patreon Page supports the realization of the the world tour, the recording of the Marble Machine X Album and getting the Marble Machine Ready for playing Live. So most of the more fun rewards I can think of will be world tour or album related, and not available before that happens. And I still don't know when that will be. So now when we started to think about updating the page we wanted to understand what you would be interested in during the time from now and up until the tour.

It seems to me that a vast number of you just actually want to support the project, and that rewards are not a key issue. We will be careful to not implement any new rewards that will take focus away from completing the MMX, but with that said I think we can at least try to come up with some nice stuff that we can do together here that will be fun and forward!

Thank you and good luck with everything you are doing!
/Martin

PS. 1 it was so nice to see the reaction on the latest Conveyer Belt completed video. Its fun to make videos with no words, it clearly communicates on a broader level. Will do some more of that. (+ editing my longish ramblings into something coherent is dirty work :)

PS. 2 I have been working for so long on the posters above, I am getting all perfectionistic with them, this is iteration 8 and we are test printing iteration 9 with some changes of the backgrounds. Right now we have white, blue and black, I think these will look great in a frame with passepartout. What color do you like best? I want this to be artwork you would be proud to hang on your wall. Will keep on working on them until they are right, Happy for some feedback on this work in progress from you all!

A Question to all Wintergatan Patrons

Comments

I am a fan of the marble race video, but to be fair any extra content is very welcome

The project itself is great reward. You are inspiriting me so much with your project that I can not imagine better reward. Video with completed Marble Machine X playing original song would be very exiting.

Maciej Klemarczyk

Love the videos and am eager for the concert tour! Nothing else is necessary

I wouldn't waste any time and money on rewards. Invest it into the project that's why I'm here at least :). And don't forget to take a break from time to time we don't want you to burn out.

Nebucatnetzer

I don't want any rewards, really. Your videos & music are the reward. I just want to help you bring this to life. Whether that's by funding teammates to help you spread the work & avoid burning out, or groceries, or the electric bill.

I loved your "Tie of the Eyger" cover in the latest video. Maybe you could do some more small cover music videos for your patreons? 😁

2) a laser etched marble used in the MMX during the world tour.

1) a laser etched marble used in the process of building the MMX

What about the privileg to buy a limited patron only signed poster? I would love to see this framed in my living room and you can limit the amount to whatever you want.

I just want to be able to buy the posters in the background there! Will be seeing you live if you ever make it to Australia :)

Paul Warren

I know I'm late to the party here. I've been behind on Wintergatan Wednesdays. I finally caught up and just discovered the "I Believe" T and was very sad to see it's not available in the US :'( I'm not sure how that would as a one time reward, but... well I want one really badly... The poster is also very rad! Keep up the great work!

I like your idea. However, lotteries, raffles, etc., are prohibited by Patreon. :(

Elizabeth Schneider

I really like your broken, unused, discarded, etc., MMX piece idea. I’d be down for that!!

Elizabeth Schneider

BTW.... Number of Patrons responding to this post is impressive....! GGGggggAAaawrrrllllloooohhhhaaaarrrlllloooooooooo.....oooooooaaooorr.............. Phhhhhaaaaaaaaaa...... (The sound a dragon makes when it dies.) Gary...

Gary Guttebo

Hi... Perhaps fellow patrons and I could have the honor of seeing the MMX up close and say 'hello' after a performance during the world tour. Sort of a 'meet & greet' opportunity. That would be cool! (Blue looks good....) Gary... '

Gary Guttebo

Knowing I helped even a tiny bit enriches my joy in watching your progress! But wishlist for future merchandise: I want a Wintergatan MMX frisbee golf disc! Or even just a disc signed by you. Probably not enough demand to make that realistic. I’d love to see you sneak some more trick shots into videos too!

Hey Martin, I loved Zac's video on "Now you know" about the conveyor belt installation. You guys chatting while working on the MMX was such a nice "behind the scenes" look onto your project. I'd love to see more guests working with you on the project. Maybe a new perk could somehow be related to something like this. I won't suggest you having to invite people with a specific perk level. I just found it very nice how you guys were talking and I'd like to see more of this style!

No reward needed but I'd love to see more videos for the not-so-into-engineering viewers, like maybe vlogs or how you keep yourself motivated, kind of "whats on my mind" videos. :)

First off I completely agree with a lot of people saying that just being able to watch your journey is a source of inspiration and enough reward. However I do have some ideas if you are looking for rewarding supporters. Apart from T-shirts, posters and world tour access I thought of: -Engrave a marble with our name and let us play the music for you as a marble in the MMX. (Don't know if it's possible to engrave a marble, maybe it influences the flow or your design vision too much. - Seeing how much time and effort it costed to "slay the dragon" I was thinking of donating the cost needed to produce 1 song (in material and time). Not sure what the reward in return should be, just knowing I 'helped' would be enough.

As for the poster, I really cannot decide between the black-on-white or the white-on-blue variant. I think both look great, so maybe, if that is an option, print both variants? ^^ (I'd probably even buy both of them and hang them next to each other :D)

Daniel Bohrer

Early access tickets would be cool, but I'm not here for perks. I'm barely buying you a coffee each month anyway, which seems like the least I can do!

I'm also late to the party, but I love supporting you just because I believe in this project, not for perks. Though I'd agree to early access tickets! Also--here's just a side thing that I'd also be 100% down to purchase.... but if you had unused or broken or throwaway prototype pieces of MMX I'd love to buy one. Just to know it was a part of something so grand as the MMX. I know you'd have to deal with logistics of shipping and whatnot, but I'd happily pay $50-$150 for an unused or discarded part of MMX just to hold in my hands a part of history. Just a thought! :)

HisnameisJoel

I'm late to the suggestion party, but early ticket access would be a cool perk :)

Maybe some kind of priority according to the scale of economic support. for example, Blueprint: you will receive tickets to concerts and a patron support shirt. 3D print: you will receive concerts, a patreon support shirt and an MMX blueprint. METAL; You will receive tickets to concerts, a patreon support shirt, MMX blueprint and a ticket office to take a partner with you to a free concert. and so some examples that would be very good for your patreons.

I would buy a scrap piece just as a way of supporting them further.

Maybe perks for all patreons could be sending them a small, unused part of the MMX? Parts that you have decided to discard and such, or even the big wooden boards that you have cut the parts out of. I'm sure some would love to have a small/big memento from the building of the MMX.

I love the blue poster. I dlove to have one signed by the team (i d dtill be paying for the poster and extra sending cpdt thought )

I think you've got it backwards, Martin. While that's very generous of you, it is I who is ever so grateful for your work. I've listened to Sommarfagel hundreds of times. It's the greatest piece of music I know. I love it so much, well, I did this: <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtdjIMzSg1M" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtdjIMzSg1M</a> I just hope you come to Montreal on the tour, or I will be devastated. I can't travel much, so that would be very appreciated :) I think sending out marbles that were used in the world tour would be a fantastic gift, too. Again, though, I am the one who is grateful, here. Cheers!

The shock when I watched Marble Machine on YouTube was considerable. In addition you are making MMX. And I'm really surprised that it is so advanced and artistic. There is nothing I want more than I can support at Patreon, and knowing progress at Wintergatan Wednesday. If I could actually see MMX on the World Tour, I would be very happy! By the way, it is posters ..., I like blue in design, but I think black is good in viewability.

Like many others I’m here to support bringing the MMX to life. The videos are the reward, especially with all the detail that goes into making them. The only extra reward that come to mind is maybe our names in lights somewhere (video, web, etc). That’s definitely something I’ve paid more on some other Patreon creator pages to be in the right level (eg, $5 and up?). Ewen

Ewen McNeill

I would support no matter what. But what I think some supporters (myself included) would appreciate: - access to a VIP section, for example good seats/accommodations etc for world tour venues (we are happy to pay for world tour tickets) - backstage passes were a good idea seen elsewhere in this thread - maybe we can have a souvenir marble from the world tour? - not gonna lie, I want to turn the crank just a little

your videos and constant forward progress are the perks. nothing more is necessary.

Dean Herbert

I agree with most here in saying no perks needed. We all invested in not only the MMX but also our love of music, art, engineering or all the above knowing there were no perks or rewards. We simply wanted to be a part of something bigger and if you decide a perk or reward is just not able to happen I doubt anyone would be offended. With that said, my idea would be a simple inexpensive copy of the blueprint. Maybe you could sign them or leave that for higher level investors. But again, if you decide rewards are just not cost effective in completing the MMX we will still stand with you. Keep up the good work Martin!

1) Can you offer the poster blueprint design on a women's fit t-shirt? My partner would have bought one when they first came out but they were only in unisex shapes. 2) I've got to say that beautiful though it may be the timing clutch seems inadequate to me. That only solves the synchronisation/phase issue for a fixed speed, and even your original marble machine song stopped and sped up again. If you used a mechanism to gauge crank speed coupled to a differential phase shifter then you could compensate for a song which varies in tempo throughout. Maybe the simplicity of the fixed clutch is an acceptable compromise for the time it would take to get an adaptive solution working, but it feels like a musical compromise, which surprises me given it's you. ;) By differential phase shifter I mean anything using differential gearing, though some people sell integrated units for exactly this: <a href="http://andantex.com/product/differential-phase-shifters/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://andantex.com/product/differential-phase-shifters/</a> Examples of crank speed measurement mechanisms - a large centrifugal tachometer is the classic solution here, which also looks really cool. Alternatively (because getting enough force/motion out of a centrifugal mechanism might be hard) you could use a linear fluid-friction mechanism: driving a little pump from the crankshaft, which drives fluid to push a piston up a conical vessel. The further the piston travels up the vessel, the looser a fit it becomes in its container, with more fluid slipping past. With a fixed force back down on the piston, piston position would pretty exactly correspond to the crank speed - and that action can be converted to a rotation and fed into the phase shifter. If the fluid container was transparent it could even look pretty amazing, especially if there was something in the fluid, like the stuff for making drinks shimmer: <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpxmsPPMiG8" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpxmsPPMiG8</a> Regards, Alex Henderson Maker of Things London

Hej Martin, for meeting you, Darth Marius and the rest of the team I could imagine a "meeting Wintergatan week(end) festivalish 'bring your own stuff' like event" in sweden for all patrons to have a look at the finished marble machine. I would travel there with a tent in the warm months if the opportunity is given (Kiel is near). In France it would also be great. Just somewhere i could bring a tent. Then we could also visit the workshop. I know, that would not be possible for everyone to visit. If you would do this on any continent starting with an "A" i could not come to visit. Also as said often, i am for the early access tickets, backstage or a guided after show access to talk to you, visit the stage and hands on the marble machine. I have read here in the comments about engraved marbles or signed scrap parts as giveaway. Of course it would be a nice idea, but shipping would be expensive as hell. These could be only given at a visit. Hugs to everyone! Kevin Kiel, Germany

I also want to let you know something, Martin. Currently i am the most curious about, what will happening in the next Wintergatan Wednesday video. I literally lived from one wednesday to the next in the wintermonths. Your videos also help me in understanding and speaking more technical English and learning some terms. You are a big inspiration for me. Because of you I've started with Fusion360 and a constructed and built my own electric guitar from scratch with aluminium plates and custom made parts (except the neck and the hevier metal parts. I also constructed a small LEGO machine for winding electric guitar pickups with a small counting system so I can get the right amount of windings for the coils). You give me so much with your videos and so I decided to give at least a little bit back to you via becoming a patron. I cannot afford more than the blueprint value, but i love that blueprint poster and the drawing poster as well, maybe a little bit more. The black poster looks a little bit like a good copy of the blueprint poster. So i think this is the most processed version. Step one is the drawing, step two is the blueprint and step three is a copy of the blueprint in black and white. Of course in this modern times the blueprint is obsoleted, but it has a special charme. You could also do a version in the da Vinci style. The black colored lines would instead be hand drawn with a feather and ink in a brown reddish colour. I like the technical drawings of da Vinci, but as it turned out he was not "that technical Mastermind", more he was the drawing Mastermind and in painting it is clear that he was a hero. If you doing a big announcement if you're finished with all iterations of your drawing, i'd buy one at least. I think I'm not able to buy one of this poster-prints if I cannot be sure that this would be an unfinished Version. I am not an engeneer, but i think, that i have a lot of potential and ideas. And I would have had fun to work with you on your ideas and on handcrafting and building the machine, but i did not have the engeneering skills and requirements to serious make an application for beeing a part of your team. Keep on going! It's been a journey but we're now on our way! Kevin M.Sc. Geosciences Kiel, Germany

Like you said, the reason we donate is to help you succeed with this project! That being said, perhaps something small like interim updates between posts would be super cool! Or maybe an occasional Q&amp;A. Just something to let us know what's happening with the project we're supporting.

Tjena Martin, for me the important part is doing what I can to keep your awesome videos coming. They have become the high light of my week, and this weeks video May have been my favorite. With just one drum, you managed to play something that to me was way cooler than the original marble machine song. As for rewards, keep it manageable. Though i would kill for an offcut, you probably would not want to send offcut to 1500 patrons, though they would want them. Instead, offer us the posters in a patron only color, give us something unique, if only a quick pic. Give us early access to buy tickets, give away a few backstage passes, leg us touch the machine! That would be awesome!

Perhaps the high tiers good get their signature scribbled lightly on the Marble Machine X? And anything where patrons could be able to point to and say "i helped" is great, like patron credits and the like

STANN.co

The main reason I became a patron was to increase the odds of seeing the MMX in real life. A great perk, in my opinion, would be to be able to see the MMX up close when attending a concert. Like a meet and greet, but instead of the artist (although that would be awesome too) you get to see the other star of the show! We've all been through the development and know a lot of details that would be so cool to see, to just have a couple of minutes to take in all the work that's been done to create the machine. Besides this, of course early access tickets are a great perk. A great low level perk would be a personal, signed Wilson to keep every patron company.

Such a place already exists! <a href="https://wintergatan.bandcamp.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://wintergatan.bandcamp.com/</a>

Dear Martin! I absolutely agree with you, that the last video was very powerful without your words, but please also do not underestimate their importance in many other cases! You know, your joy in making the MMX and describing all the details and complex connections is my joy in following your Youtube series. It is when you talk about your progress, successes, failures or challenges, that I feel happy to be able to support you here. So your words are very important to me, because they are important for the story that you tell. But you are right, that sometimes (and the Conveyer Belt completed video is certainly the best example) the story is better told without words. So, if you say, that it is really difficult to edit your "longish ramblings" (I do love them still!) into something useful that also works with the video, maybe it is easier to have some audio only/podcast like stories told with a little more background information and with even less "formal requirements" than your videos. Wouldn't that be also a great patreon perk? But on the other hand you are absolutely right: Rewards are certainly not so important. We love what you do already enough! Thank you so much for letting us all be a part of this journey!

Early access to buy tickets for your world tour would be great!

Love this project! Every video shows that little step forward and gets me so excited for what the MMX can do when completed. Like many, I don't really feel the need for rewards, but maybe you can come up with some sort of simplified design for buttons or stickers? Or maybe put the design for the poster (which I'd also love as a reward) onto some t-shirts? My personal favorite poster color is the blue one - it really gives the feel of an old-school blueprint. Keep up the great work, rambling or no!

More music!!! I really enjoy all of your videos. You've inspired me to get back into watch and clock repair.

Just having you out there to create and share your creations with the world is reward enough for me. Also, I'm a fan of the blue for the poster. I already bought the blue shirt. Love all you do, Martin.

Ascetic

ideas: 1 On tour Backstage passes, tour tshirt with dates/countries etc signed Albums.... 2 Limited, (to patreons), edition badge/marble/t-shirt 3 digital scrapbook file with seen / unseen pics? 4 Voucher for digital copy of future album/ dvd / kindle book of progress/process... 5 colours of posters A "Ochre Yellow" gives a nice Da Vinci feel to the invention esp with the right font... B Blue gives a nice Architectural "Blueprint" feel.... C Black gives the "classic Rock Band TßShirt" feel.... My Fav is "A" Having said that, I am just a minor Patreon as I'm not rich, so donated on the basis of "Im happy with no reward outcome as I simply wish to help see it successfully completed.... Best wishes Martin et al...

I’d love to have a genuine marble after the tour as a momento!

This! I really enjoyed the weekly monday udates you (Martin) did last year in october and november.

I think this corner of the Internet is fine without getting rewarded for the support of something truly beautiful. Thank You!

I would love to see a gray and orange poster

Blue.

Jim Humblestrong

I'm happy to contribute without any additional reward, knowing that I'm a 'part' of the process (however tiny my part is) is completely why I contribute. However, since you've asked. I'd love to be able to buy tickets to your worldwide tour first (like pre-release), maybe at a discount (and I only say that because I live on a disability pension, so probably won't be able to afford tickets anyway, but a gal can hope). I really like Andrew Sharpe's comment about mini lotteries, which you could maybe announce the winner of at the end of an actual video, which may encourage other fans to come onboard as patrons. Keep doing what you're doing, we're here because we love your music and love watching how amazing your MMX is. I admit, I'm a little concerned that you're going to finish it and we won't be able to watch you making anything. It's like the end of Game of Thrones next month. Can't wait for it to be finished so we can see how it ends, but I really don't want it to go!!!

Larysa Jaworski

I absolutely agree!!!

Larysa Jaworski

Blue

I am also convinced that the knowledge of that will give the MMX project many more Patreons without big effords or costs. We are all almost bursting of curiosity how far you have come to the world tour together with the incredible MMX!

I would like you to communicate the actual progress of the MMX direct and exclusivly with us Patreons on mondays so that we feel a bit as ”special followers” who are more informed than all other Wednesday followers.

Hey Martin, I happy to contribute without reward. However, as you ask, how about every so often doing mini lotteries to win some of your cool offcuts or a poster or t-shirt? Only one winner amongst the Patreons each time. You could make it weekly or fortnightly or just sporadic. I love the work going on, keep it up and make sure you take a break!

What about, on some of the upper levels, some pieces of the CNC scrap cutouts? Doesn't have to be big or anything.

Martin Algesten

The t-shirt is already available! See <a href="https://wintergatan.net/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://wintergatan.net/</a>

Covox

I love the poster in blue; looks like a cyanotype (maybe it is?)

Watching your vidios and enjoying your music is reward enough for me. I have got the T shirt and will buy a poster for my little studio and cant wait to see you all on tour. Keep up the good work, You are an insparation to many. I cant ask for more than that.

I just want to see the MMX live on tour. I'll buy tickets separately from Patreon, but maybe a priority status when buying a ticket to see it would be possible.

Matt Whitlock

Access to Multitrack files of some of your music, so we can remix it ourselves! My other favorite YouTube group is Pomplamoose. They do Live-in-Studio performances, and give Patrons access to the multitracks. Plus it would be really fun to hear other people's remixes! (or tedious i suppose??) It would be a way for some of us to play along with your music. I just got an old typewriter that i need to learn to play!

I am a patron because I want the MMX to become a reality. That being said, I for one see Martin vacuuming away a lot of sawdust material in the videos, if I could have that as a keep sake, in a glass or decorative container like a MMX etched glass, that would be awesome. I would even pay more for it outside of a patron reward. How about it, Martin?

No extra content is needed for me as the videos and music are already a wonderful return on the patronage. I like the white and blue posters best. One idea for “rewards” may be a place where the short music compositions you create for the videos is posted to be heard independent from YouTube? Even audio directly from a portion the video to make it easy? :) I really enjoy your work!

Logan Smith

I look forward to the Wintergatan Wednesdays, That's enough of a reward for me.

Terry Barnaby

Don’t need any rewards... but since you’re asking... unique ringtone maybe?

I'm a patron because I think the MMX should exist and since the design for it is inside your head, I would like to support you until it's finished. When I signed up, the only thing you offered me for my money was the promise that it would be used to make the MMX a reality. As long as that happens, it's money well spent.

I’m here to support your work/genius, not for any rewards. It would be cool to see you in concert some day, but the work alone is inspiring enough to get me to support it.

Jim

Posters...Don't have to give it away, but would really love to have one in my office

Keeping the Wintegatan Wednesday videos awesome would be more than enough! But with that being said, I would love to see a 3D model of the Marble Machine X being made available to us Patreon supporters! It'll be so nice if I can print my own mini Marble Machine X and put it on my desk!

Marble machine for every patreon ;)

I don't want anything more than the videos themselves! They have such a high quality that it is already the best reward I want!

I just want more Wednesdays. Awesome video of you cranking on the machine by the way. Also, when you start selling the posters I'm gonna get the white one! It looks a lot like some patents I have on my walls. I'll give you $100 right now if you sell it to me.

Firstly; I think everyone supports you for the sake of the project and to see MMX finalized and on tour would be the ultimate payback. However; If I could make a wish it would be the oportunity to buy limited editions available for Patreons only or presale of tourtickets. When it comes to the MMX prints I think white on blue looks fab!

I like the blue or black posters. The white ones look a little washed out.

Love the videos and the inspiration of seeing such an amazing project come to life. Please please 🙏 try to add New Zealand to you world tour schedule... Would love to see you here!

As with many other people, I just enjoy your videos, your progress and the vision of the MMX. No special perks needed :)

cochi

Love the vids and ur music....these are all the rewards I need. Looking forward to when the MMX is completed and ur albums start being produced. 😎

Like others, I am 100% supporting just because I LOVE the project and want to support it. I would say the youtube videos ARE the reward. But I do like the idea of getting a marble that has passed through the machine. That'd be an awesome keepsake.

I don’t need any special kind of reward. My reward will be seeing you thos marvelous project. Never seen anything like this. So passionate, sincere, so talented, eye for detail, so from the hearth. You video about ‘take me to the moon’ gave me goosebumps. If I could decide about this I would take you there for sure. If you really want to reward something it could be something music related or a ‘take me to the moon’ like video to express your feeling about the road you traveled with this project. I also would like to have access to the fusion files. I’m myself also into 3d printing and design and really would like to study how this incredible machine is working. But please just focus first on what you have to do now to complete the project. I feel honored I can support you. Owww and about the colour definitely read, the colour of love and the hearth and passion that made it possible to built something beautiful like this. Good luck!

I, too don’t think any special content for us patreons. I’m supporting no matter what. What you and the team is doning is truely amazing and ground breaking - and SOOOOOO talented. Just take your time to finish the project and enjoy the patreons (and millions viewers) following along. I presale for the world tour would be really nice - maybe even for the opening show? Keep up the good work - and my contribution is nothing compared to the hours of joy you have given us Oh - And a copy of Wilson would be a really nice thing

Mikkel Junker

Seeing the work complete is reward enough, but since you asked, depending on the level of support, such things as world tour ticket discounts, backstage passes, discounted merch are obvious choices. Patreon name on tour signage, tee shirt, etc. Name engraved on a plaque on the MMX (Higher tier patrons get more characters, larger font, more central placement, etc.) You get the idea, buying fame by association just like big-shot philanthropists and patrons of the arts.

Don Rideaux-Crenshaw

Are there already 'as built' documents available of (some of) the different parts of the marble machine X? I would love to learn from such technical drawings. This would make a beautiful book filled with engineering - art.

A reward for us that would not impact a lot on MMX building and new music creation is some 'backstage' content. Short videos, photos, interviews to your close collaborators telling how all we see in youtube official videos happens, is recorded and produced. We love the MMX and your music but wish to be there working with the CNC machine, 3D printes, soldering gun and so on: let us better feel the smell of your laboratory.

Agreeing that a marble used to play a song on the MMX when it's done would be an awesome perk. The blue design is my personal favourite but they all look great.

Agreeing that a marble used to play a song on the MMX when it's done would be an awesome perk.

Well, i don't give enough to your patreon to hope having more, i alrealdy buyed a nice tshirt to support you. I just hope that you come in Belgium and i'll be able to buy a ticket to see wintergatan and your MMX. Maybe a little stuff for the others who gives you more on Patreon, a marble like other people sayed. Or a Wilson for the betters Patreons or an object that is a little part of the MMX So if you come in Belgium i offer you some beer XD

An engraved marble would be an awesome award

Blue poster looks coolest btw. Wonder if it would look cool on metalplate with CNC:d lines (with or without ink in them?). Also a possible future charity auction?

A marble would be cool :) happy to support just to get early access to tour tickets. Keep up the good work!

I like the blueprint feel of the blue poster, but it looks like the black is the easiest to read. With all the details of the MMX, an easily read and decipherable poster is a necessity.

Elizabeth Schneider

When on tour you could have a pickup-place for Patreons before the concert. This to avoid sending thousands of boxens mayhem it would be to send them manually. So patreons going to concerts could pre-register for even better logistics? What to pickup? Could be a poster (lower end giveaway) to a real marble that has done atleast a circle in the Marble Macine X (Dream highest end giveaway, specially if the song played with the giveaway marbles is the original Marble Machine song). You could also use the Idea of Marble used in the machine for Charity auction etc (when with certificate which we don’t need).

(Hopefully) There will be a Wintergatan Wednesdays when the MMX is fully assembled and you present the first ever full song played on this instrument. I would love a marble that took part in this historic event. :D

Birk Källberg

I really like all of the designs but I think the white one would look the best on my wall. Other that I'm just happy to support you in this project. It's nice with supporter benefits but really it's just amazing to be a part of this project.

I would like to have first dibs on the tickets for the tour. Give us the link two days in advance so we all have the chance to get one before the broader public. If the premiere is anywhere in Europe (and I hope of course it is in Sweden) I will definitely go and I will probably go more than once in Sweden (I live in Västerås). Also, I would like some exclusive insights, like for example if you are ahead with the assembly, share some random pictures so we know where you actually are in the process, even thought the official videos are a month behind. I really enjoyed the time when you posted something exclusive every Monday. It doesn't have to be on a schedule and it can be less than what you did then, but give us something that the public doesn't know yet. I don't want anything material that you have to produce for us. If you have something like that, like a poster or a scale model, I will buy it at the merch table on the tour. You should do a Merklin model at scale with all the 8000 parts that we have to assemble ourselves! Just kidding! This project is absolutely amazing and I can't believe how invested I am and how much I look forward to your videos every Wednesday. I want nothing more than hearing the first real song coming out of that machine and last week's video was pretty close, minus some minor details. Thanks for bringing us on an amazing journey!

A marble would be awesome. A white background poster would be great. Anything signed. Love this. Keep the videos coming.

I feel your videos &amp; music are plenty of a reward for Patrons &amp; non-patrons alike. Personally I really like the blue-print print :) Keep up the awesome work!

Ronan O'Donnachu

I don't contribute a lot, so for me the videos alone are enough reward. That and the possibility of getting to see your show when you tour the US.

John S. Fetzik

I think the white poster looks the coolest. It really gives off a Gallielo-esque feel. It makes your project look like it was designed by a mad scientist lol

Nathan Townley

I think it could be nice to have "access" to more content about who you are, who the other members of Wintergatan are, information about the origin of your music tracks, stories about your trips (going to play at a show), early access to music played on the MMX (can't wait to hear the Marble Machine song on the MMX). Overall one thing I enjoy about channels on YouTube (especially those I am a Patreon of) is having the feeling of "knowing" the creator; I think most of my suggestions are a bit aimed at pushing this "further".

One Marble (I volunteer to design a display case)

I don’t think I need any additional rewards at all. I am totally happy with getting a video every week that lets me follow along with your progress – and, of course, hopefully eventually seeing you and the MMX live on stage. When you occasionally compose new music for the videos and make that available for download, that is a nice bonus, but I wouldn’t want that to be exclusive to patrons. I’ve found the signal-to-noise ratio here in the Patreon comments much higher than in the YouTube comments (I have never checked Reddit and Discord and whatnot, so I don’t know about them), so maybe an occasional Q&amp;A would be nice? But don’t let us take away your time that way unless you enjoy it. Following you is so wonderfully inspiring – keep the perfectionism coming!

Being able to support the project already feels like a bonus on top of the gift that your beautiful work has been to us, but since you're asking for input: Anything is fine, as long as it's effortless for you to implement. Offcuts, BTS videos and streams, or even random photos and doodles. These may seem like little things, but they would make us very happy. Also, those bits of unreleased music you use in your videos, which you call "quick and dirty", are actually really wonderful. Unless you have other plans for them, and if it's not too much work to edit them into something you'd be willing to share, having them available for download would be a delight. I look forward to the posters. My favourite is blue, with black a close second. A heartfelt thank you again for everything you do!

These are both fantastic i second these!! Altho northern ireland for me.

Anything digital is awesome (and honestly I'd prefer CAD &amp; other relevant files), but can trivially be duplicated, so something physical might be nice. How about things you've used in the production of the MMX, with maybe a small note like "15mm drill bit used for something something"?

Victor Engmark

actually the videos and your engagement is rewardful enogh:) but silly thinking like i am(..having a world tour in mind) u could try to build a mmmini with one ball playing a tripplet on steel fethers and the ball could e engraved with wintergatan or sth. shorter..:)

I’m supporting through Patreon because I want to see the finished MMX and because my child has watched so many hours of your YouTube videos I wanted to give something back. I don’t want Patreon rewards if they’re going to take away from your build time. The weekly videos are enough! That said, something like priority ticket purchases for the world tour for Patrons would be cool.

Offcuts sound like a really cool idea.

I think, at the very least, one MMX machine for each Patreon supporter. And not a mini-mmx, the full-size one please. That'll keep you busy Martin ;)

Steve Z

I’ve always thought it would be cool if you could show unreleased original marble machine videos, since you told me you still had unreleased content.

Yeah the offcuts sounds like a really good idea, but it shouldn't take a long time to put together. the blue and white are the best imo, but they are all cool !

Love the blue posters! I think some small things would be cool like pins or postcards of your new poster. Ticket discounts as well!

Short rough / uncut vlog style things would be nice rewards, but if you think you'd only end up spending time polishing them, then we can very well live without :) But maybe you could think that it's like showing sketches to friends, and less like releasing final products to the world?

Janne Peltonen

I like the blue ones best. For one thing, they look like blueprints; for another, they suggest space, and well, the Milky Way :)

Janne Peltonen

As you intued, just supporting is my goal. Additional bonuses would be for me: 1) have an option to suggest a city to world tour ( come to Barcelona!) 2) Possibility to say hi to you in the world tour: shake hands, have the opportunity to tell you in person how much your project inspired us and then go to enjoy the concert!

Hi. I think a dark blue "blueprint-look". Works really well. For me the greatest reward would be that you complete the build of a fully functional, insanely over engineered Marble Machine X. I believe!

I love the posters, and maybe that design would also work well on t-shirts in the same colors! I also agree on a vlog or more behind the scenes video/streaming - we always want to see more! Aside from that, tickets for the tour (or discounts on tickets) would be awesome when the time comes. All that said, I’m happy to continue supporting the project with no rewards!

I think @Cstripes has some great suggestions. I see the patreons of wintergatan as a group that you don't need to convince of how awesome your project is, because we believe in the whole team What I mean with that is, that a simple picture from your phone with 1 line of text about a frustration, a realisation or a daydream is more then enough to make our day perfect. TL;DR: some behind the scene pictures with a simple comment is all I need.

How about a Wilson Fusion file? (The other file was hilarious!) Or even a flat file for a laser cutter? Or post your Ode files? In any case, I agree w/ above, it’s simply a pleasure to be a part of the MMX ride! P.S. Any update on the moon-shot?

I love the offcut idea! Patron specific merch would be cool as well. But I also think that rewards are not absolutely necessary. I’m here to support your amazing work with or without rewards. The videos and your hard work on this brilliant project are already more than enough :)

Offcuts sounds like an amazing idea

I feel already rewarded by all the work you’re putting into this thing. If I had a wish though, it would be to include Uruguay in your world tour.

iCach0

I would like to see offcuts as a reward. Small ones shiped to backers of a certain level and the chance to buy larger pieces. I'd really like to hang one of the large plywood pieces on my wall. I want to hold a piece of this history in the making!

I love the posters! I think my favorite is the white. With the antiqued background it looks like something from Da Vinci.

Put simply, the videos are more than reward enough for me. On a profound level. The Marble Machine shows humans at their best. Random strangers doing their best work to collaborate on a piece of art. So rare.

Al Hunt

I really liked the live stream from Marcus. I’d love to see something similar again. It could be like a quick 5 minute vlog recorded on your phone without any editing (so doing that whole thing wouldn’t take more than 10 minutes max of your schedule. Could be done every week or bi-weekly and could be more behind the scenes. Like how much of a hassle it is to shoot making parts, how you order parts, how the editing is going, how happy you are with the last Wednesday video and the reactions you’ve gotten. Or ugly pictures taken from your computer screen about what you’re thinking about doing with the upcoming parts and assemblies, design problems you’re facing.
