Hi everyone! There is no video from me today, just back to Europe from Alabama and Thinkercon.
Thinkercon was intense, filled with new friends and insights, on the picture im standing outside the Huntsville Space and Rocket center where the public event of Thinkercon took place. So many rockets, including full sized Saturn 5!
Before the public event we had two days of meet up with educational creators, i met a lot of people who’s channels I watch regularly, you can see the list of creators who were there at Thinkercon.com
(although I think Frank Howarth is missing from that list, first morning when I walked out of the Elevator I walked straight into Frank, one of my Youtube heroes. He taught me a lot about compression cutters for the cnc as we have the same machine)
What struck me was how serious, down to earth, helpful, friendly and fun all these people were. We had in depth serious conversations about how to make better videos under talks named things like “Narrative Signposting”. With so many science channels present the level of analyse was quite high. I had to learn a lot of new words, “Capricious” being my favourite I guess. Talking with other Youtubers about our processes gave me a lot to think about. Meeting the audience in Alabama and hearing first hand how they watch the Wintergatan videos was very meaningful. I did not intend to let this trip affect my upload schedule but it did anyway. Hopefully it will make sense in the long run as I keep developing the channel using the new insights.
Take Care, all best! / Martin
PS 1
My fellow Swede Simone Giertz took the picture above of me and the rocket, it was awesome to meet her, we spoke the Vampire Swedish code language.
PS 2
I met Will from the Machine thinking Youtube Channel, he will machine some parts for the MMX, parts that are needed to synch the crankshaft for different BPM:s. Check out his “World's Oldest Micrometer - 1776!” Video here:

(Seems like I am slowly and steadily pulled down into the machinist black hole :) just so much gravity in there…)
