Hi everyone, hope you are great!
I am going to Alabama, US in November for the Thinkercon Event. I will meet so many of my Youtube Heroes there, Jimmy Diresta, who inspired my filming and editing so much, and Derek from Veritasium and Bob Clagett and so so many more. The trip is an awesome break for me to leave my workshops for some days, fly over and meet my Youtube colleagues! We see the event as a kind of global “coffeemachine”. You know on most workplaces, you chit chat with your colleagues over a cup of coffee by the coffeemachine? To meet other people that also run their channels will be awesome for me, chit chatting over the coffee machine about everything and nothing!
The event is taking place in a space centre where they have two Saturn five rockets and two “discovery” - style Space ferries. I have never been up close to any real space rocket so seeing these in person will be really inspiring! There is also a public event that they are organising. Ticket prizes are so high that I don’t feel comfortable promoting the event too much, I haven’t mentioned this yet on my main channel. You can check out the kind of crazy list of Youtubers who will be there on there website.
I will try to make some kind of interesting Vlog from the trip, perhaps interviewing some of the other Youtubers or something. Trying to think of something useful to ask. Useful for us all. What is a really useful question to ask other Youtubers actually? I want to find angles that surprises, but I am having trouble coming up with fresh perspectives for questions. If you get an idea, please let me know below.

Another big thing that happened last week was that I turned down some major sponsoring opportunities. I have always turned down online casinos and mobile game ads, but these recent offers were from another league. I am so happy for the decision to keep the Wintergatan Wednesdays crowdfunded. What they offered would have tenfold my youtube income. And it took me several days of reaching the decision to turn it down. Now I feel so great about it but its not because of any kind of bravery from my side I am able to turn down something like that, it is because of you. It is only thanks to your support that I can make a decision like this. Thank you for helping me making this important decision, I am very proud and so should you be! We have created a corner of the internet together that we can maintain and take care of ourselves! (I mean its not entirely ours, I am overlooking the fact that our corner is trapped inside another giants house, Google, but OK. I think of it as a win nevertheless. The fact that we are all in googles hands only makes it even more important to try to stay listening to ourselves. And not only follow the staked out route that playing the money game leads to. Does that make sense?
On the MMX side over here, (we are on 84% now!) Things are starting to normalize in a great way, Having Chris the new project manager has structured my work and I feel I can look up and out and a little bit further into the future than I could before.
I was kind of working day by day before, never feeling I had done enough. Now I can plan, and think more long term. One thing I really know is that sooner or later I will get some video editor or editors on board.
I love to do it but later it has become more and more obvious that I should spend that energy on MMX and music. Especially in the coming period when I want to stay focused on composing. It will be really hard to find editors to work with but I am sure there are people out there that can make my videos more of what they already are and better.
The new MMX team is slowly growing in place and I am feeling very hopeful and happy! Waking up every day looking forward to putting another piece to the MMX puzzle. JUST like the last four years…
Ok, I am off arranging my termite village of file storage system into something structured, been dreaming about this for years. Better file structure will make me work more efficient. I don’t even know where the master files of my youtube videos are…. When I use clips from my own videos I always record the screen from youtube cause I don’t have access to the masterfiles… That will change now.

Hi Martin. I only just discovered your videos and am completely blown away. I've had your marble machine song in my google play music playlist for a long time and had no idea it was created by an actual marble machine! I just wanted to say that I really enjoy your CAD videos. I use Fusion on a daily basis for my job for both design and cam. I learn a lot by watching how others use it. Keep up the good work!

Earning a living is difficult and everyone needs money to pay their bills. But I am glad I can contribute via Patreon and get to see your posts. Also, I hope you get to travel to the moon. You're super inspiring Martin. And Wintergatan music is awesome.

The fact that you avoid paywalls and corporate ownership and you embrace open source is the biggest reason I wanted to become a patron. P.S. I will be at thinkercon, hope I get to say hi!
