I know this is not going to want to be heard but... I think Charlie's mum was actually a little in the right. I do think an outright ban was a bit much, but something needed to be done. Charlie is only 15, he NEEDS to do his schoolwork. I think a lot of people miss that she said 'until this coursework essay is handed in'- She literally was saying he only needed to do the essay to see Nick again. Charlie is brilliant enough to bang it out quickly, then it would have been done. My oldest is 15 and he was actually shouting at our screens 'Just do your coursework Charlie!'. However... I think the park scene alone was worth the sneaking out LOL. It was stunning.

Just done a rewatch. Well done on picking up on the not eating thing Jay, you seem to have a very empathetic sense about people and a great feel for the characters. it's a good trait for a person to have. Great reaction. 🙂. keep it up.

Be careful, you might really injuried yourself with your chair or your desk 😂😅 Sorry for my english, love from France

What Graham&Ruth May and Pip said: 110%. It’s easy to take sides and lay blame, but TBH there’s not much to like/sympathize with Charlie’s Mom’s reactions and glacial lack of empathy. Compare that to Tao’s Mom, the epitome of a loving, caring, understanding parent. Then: David’s ‘At least admit you’re gay’ comment, which just…grrrrrr 🐶. Thank you Nellie (you could’ve bitten him you know). And JAY : YOU’RE.THE.BEST !

Right Jay you have to drop all other projects and concentrate only on Heartstopper lol. Only joking. Good to see your usual high quality, empathetic reactions. Keep up the good work. 🙂

As a bisexual myself i can second this, the amount of times I’ve heart the “just at admit your gay” or “i dont believe you, you’re just gay” and so on is unreal even this days. At some point I believe it myself, the youre just gay, you just like women to feel normal, even glee had comments like that at some point, and that was the peak of representation on tv that I had growing up, so im so happy to see it on Heartstopper, we just needed a positive representation

It makes sense to me.

Interesting that Tao’s Mum and Charlie’s Mum are put alongside each other in this episode and we see two completely different approaches to parenting, one being a lot more successful than the other. Yes, it’s understandable that Charlie’s parents should be worried about his schoolwork but an outright ban is only driving him to try to see Nick behind their backs and causing him additional stress. I love Tao’s Mum! Asking the right questions, listening, reassuring, offering advice, then allowing Tao some space to make up his own mind. In my opinion, Nellie is the standout of this episode for growling at David when he barged into Nick’s bedroom without even asking. Dogs just know, don’t they..

So far I don't like Nicks brother, he is being and ass!!! It feels like biphobia in a way, when he is not acknowledging it/think its weird, and it makes me angry. (The whole "just admit you're gay" comment for starters) Being Bisexual is a part of Nicks identity, and he should accept that. I also think whenever Nick says "I'm bi actually" that he is defending himself/reminding people that Bi is there too.(That you don't necessarilly have to be gay, if you're not straight; there are more to it), and people around him means well, but just forget to think about being bi at first, so they just need a quick reminder, and thats that, but Nicks brother is just so bad!!!

Although I do believe that what Charlie said to Tori at the end of ep 1 was beautiful, it was also heartwrecking to watch not gonna lie, even Tori had teary eyes cause he didn’t have that, he had to deal with that, wouldn’t say alone cause he had Tao, Elle and Issac, but definitely not the same and that affected him a lot, through all season 1 when he was having negative thoughts because of that trauma is really hard to watch, and so I understand why he wants to protect and be there for Nick, and Im glad he is, but I dont know, it breaks my heart a little. Sorry for the long comment, it probably doesnt make sense but just had to let it out
