Yeah, that funeral was gut-wrenching. I could hardly watch it because the police officers did the same thing for my dad at his funeral. It was very well done. Very realistic.

2020-08-16 16:42:45 +0000 UTCBamon was epic in this episode. It's so telling that the first place Bonnie thought to go was to Damon's house. Their unexpected, deep friendship is one of the best things about TVD. Damon has come so far.

2020-08-16 16:41:25 +0000 UTCI'm not sure if Damon's advice to Stefan was so much bad advice as that Damon was the wrong person for Stefan to ask. Damon can't conceive of being in love with someone and not being 100% sure he's in love with them; he has no experience with the typical deal where people date and fall in love over time. From Damon's perspective, if you're in love you know it, so if you're asking the question, then you must not be love. And, if he was right about that part, then the rest of his advice was spot on -- if you know you're not with the right person, end it sooner rather than later, but not on the day of their mother's funeral. That call and response thing the cops did at the funeral always get me all choked up. My uncle had been Chief of Police for a long time, and the cops did that at his funeral. I find it really moving.
