Hi all! Here's my UNCUT reaction to "The Adventures Of Robin Hood" (1938), which honestly, I SO wish I had seen this long ago. It's superb!! This is also the first Errol Flynn film I've seen too.
Everything from the jovial, upbeat nature of the film, to the brilliant, and I mean brilliant cinematography and lighting. That shot with the shadows nearer the end?! Incredible!
Even with the fact that they chose to switch from black and white to "Technicolor" just a few weeks (not months as I stated at the start) before production began! Not only did they apparently use every single one of the Technicolor film cameras out at the time to make this, they put their all into creating colourful shots. They also spot-lighted certain things within shots, like the torch light, to highlight areas too. Fascinating!
Despite being colour blind, it's very visual and incredibly satisfying to see. This is one of those films I think really does work well being in colour, despite it not being too overwhelmingly colourful.
I hope you really enjoy my reaction to this!
As with all my reactions, don't forget you'll need your own copy of the film to watch alongside my uncut reaction, as the film will be blurred, but there is a timer on screen for you to sync with, along with the first few seconds of the film.
