It took some time to complete, but I hope you enjoy this as much as you would the main reaction and maybe you'll find some new info!

By the way, that note about Russell's jowls raised my eyebrows too. Found this old trailer for a 1937 production, "Night Must Fall", which TCM plays every now and then: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JT6baq_GepU Russell's face looks softer here, less chiseled than in "Friday", but hardly "saggy". "Night Must Fall", by the way, isn't a great movie or play, but it's interesting, with a great cast, especially the immortal Dame May Whitty and Robert Montgomery, who never quite found his footing for a steady climb up the Hollywood ladder. It's a good Halloween watch. And I meant to grin and say that early in my working life, one of my positions was as a girl Friday in an office. I guess we don't really use that term anymore.

2024-09-07 01:23:36 +0000 UTCI meant to agree with you and will do so here that Hepburn and Russell would have been amazing together, and it was definitely a missed opportunity. Hepburn did act alongside a sassy Ginger Rogers in "Stage Door", and there's enough between them to give a hint of what might have been.
