UNCUT | Somewhere In Time (1980) Movie Reaction | FIRST TIME WATCHING

Hi all! I hope you're all well and ready to join me in watching one of the most beautiful, but heart-wrenching films I have seen.

I've now added "Somewhere In Time" to my list of favourite films, as I absolutely fell in love with it.

I have included my end review with this one (but not the trivia), that way you get to hear my proper thoughts about it all.

I really hope you can join me with this one and if you've not seen it, I think you'll love it. It's a romantic fantasy film with a dash of sci-fi that I was surprised at (although I had wondered it's possibility).

This is one that you will need some tissues for, as it gets very emotional.

Take care and have a lovely day!

I hope you enjoy it again on rewatch! I love that you've done a 180. Such a beautiful film... albeit incredibly emotional 🥺

I look forward to watching this one with you. The first time I ever saw it shortly after it came out I thought it was unbearably sappy and unbelievable. Since then I have done a complete 180° switch and I love it. And yes, I will need the tissues too.

She really is breathtaking Scott! Yeah I heard that today about the hotel, I had no idea but its so wonderful. They apparently do weekends there for Somewhere In Time or events or something. Thats so lovely that the museum not only exists in the real hotel, but also is still kept there now and renamed to do with the film. Yes!! That was my thing... I was thinking that if he had the watch from her and he left it with her and then that starts the cycle again then where did it originate. Its just a never ending loop! I love that they did that with the watch though, as its an extra layer that they found each other because of one another. Oh yes, I think I prefer your ending! Plus, they could add to it that if maybe he had come back when Id said, with him waking in the chair outside,. They could then have him get issues with not being able to go back and finally get to return when he thinks they have left. Thats where it ends with them finding one another again and living happily ever after. Thanks for the great idea, a much more satisfactory ending!

Haha YES! As soon as I saw it... Noooo! Ooh, I'll have to give that a read! Thank you Jamie. Ohh... I wonder if in the book, that could be some explanation to the whole time travel thing. Makes you wonder if it were to be real or in his mind. Oh yes! I very much like that head canon and could totally see that being the case.

First off, Jane Seymour was insanely beautiful in this movie. I don't think you could of got anyone better. Second, it's a great time travel scifi fantasy that you can escape into, I've always loved it. I read somewhere that the hotel that they filmed at is still there and running and that they call the little museum in the hotel the "Somewhere In Time" museum now. Third, Somebody please explain to me where the watch comes from? This is a paradox problem I don't see many people pick up on. Lastly, I totally dislike the ending, in fact when I watch now I usually stop watching at the moment they find each other on the stairway outside the hotel as I think that's where the movie should end. That's just me though. Also, it was really cool to see Treasa Wright in this, as she was really a beautiful leading lady in her day.

Scott Howard

Three words THAT.DAMN.COIN The movies based on a book called Bid Time Return written by Richard Matheson. The story beats are pretty much the same however Richard (in the book) is actually dying of a brain tumour from the beginning of the book. Also it’s set way earlier than 1912. It’s my headcanon that her manager (WF Robinson) is also a time traveller too
