Added 2024-08-17 17:00:04 +0000 UTCHi all. This wasn't something I had wanted to post just yet, but health has been a bit worse these past few days and not had much energy to record anything new yet. So I thought I would post this instead, which I watched as a tester episode for the 2023 series of "revamp" of Goosebumps... oh boy.
I loved the original series back in the 90s and had a massive collection of the original run of books. I was a big fan and thought that maybe, just maybe, this would bring back some of those same nostalgic feelings I had for the stories... or maybe at least feel like a great modern take on it all.
However, I'm not sure if I'll continue the series, due to my thoughts about the first episode. I might continue it into the coming months leading up to Halloween, as it might be kind of... fun... but we'll see.
I'm not hating it entirely, but it's definitely not great and reminds me too much of a CW drama. Somebody please tell the person who selected the soundtrack to dial it back a little. Make it more horror and less teen drama.
Anyway, maybe it's just me being too critical and my want for nostalgia was clouding my judgement. Or maybe the series just doesn't hit the mark.

Hi Jamie! Yeah, it seems there was a new 2023 Goosebumps series... although it doesn't follow the same style or setup and pay off. I wish they'd gone with the anthology idea, but they've made it a normal series. This first episode shows a set of of the items from the original stories like the "Cuckoo Clock Of Doom", but with things like "The Haunted Mask", they've changed the design to a full face "phantom of the opera" style mask, which is odd and not as unique. I don't know how to feel, as whilst the creepy bits are great, they've made it more of a CW drama and in my opinion, not done a great job on the soundtrack. Plus, a big miss is that they've changed the theme tune. The only reason this video starts with the theme is because I changed It haha. I'll also be changing the theme when I edit the episodes too 😅 But as for the stories, I'm not sure how they are adapting them. I heard when it came out that it's a modern adaptation / modern reboot and not a sequel or remake. I'm going to stick it out though (there's only 10 episodes, each named after stories) as I'm intrigued, as much as the soundtrack gripes me haha. The over-use of the song "Goosebumps" just made me want to cry too 🤣 Anyway, we shall see! You might like it if you do decide to jump into this
