I hadn't known what to expect with this and it was brilliant. So many points to talk about, most of which I mention in the reaction itself, but some of which are in the end review and that has yet to be edited.
Thank you so much for requesting this. I'm definitely going to try to read the Anne Rice book at some point.
Also, yes I will checking out the series at some point in the future too (not just yet though).

Great reaction! An icon performance by Kirsten Dunst. I highly recommend the series (even if just to watch on your own time). Some of the best acting and storytelling on TV, in my opinion. Wildly underrated, but it is coming to Netflix soon so hopefully that will change!

This one I would describe as lush, sensual, erotic, perverse, and a (blood) feast for the eyes and ears. The music is one of my favorite scores from the '90s... played the CD quite often. I still haven't read the book or seen the other movies, but I have always liked this one, even if Tom Cruise was not what Anne Rice initially had in mind for Lestat. I actually like him a lot in this. Kirsten Dunst is amazing in this, essentially having to play an adult in a child's body at the end. I guess that's the only thing that made their relationship a bit less creepy, if you think how old she actually was. But even the creepiness of it adds to the whole perverse nature of the underworld of vampires, along with the blatant homoeroticism. Actually my favorite scene is when Lestat first bites Louie and they go flying up... the way it's filmed and the way the score sounds almost triumphant at that point makes it seem like a sexual climax. Love it! This is a film that could use a 4K remaster to really bring out the gorgeous cinematography.
