UNCUT | Good Omens: S1 Episode 4 "Saturday Morning Funtime" Reaction
Added 2024-06-18 09:25:43 +0000 UTCHi all! Here's episode 4 of Good Omens. WOW, this series is phenomenal! I really loved this episode. Check out the episode's review at the end for my after thoughts, as I had so many "oh my god" moments.
With these episode reactions, I've been trying to get the after thoughts edited as well. More so than with the films, as they take time. I will try to change that in the future and at least get the "review" thoughts edited for films too. However, trivia sections will still be left until the final edit.
I hope you all enjoy this! Honestly, one of the best episodes so fa, aside from the first. Or at least for most parts anyway.

I forgot about SID RAT! Also the Bentley's license plate is CURTAIN backwards but I don't know what it means. Full disclosure, the only DW actor (besides Tennant) that I recognized on my own the first time watching was Daniel Mays, probably because his DW character was also a very dad type, I do better with context. I got Nina later, but the others had to be pointed out to me, and I only found out about Strax recently! I've seen Michael Sheen in a couple of other things now (although not Heartlands, thanks for the tip!), but I didn't think that I'd seen him in anything before I watched GO. But it turned out that besides the DW voice part, he was in 3 or 4 episodes of 30 Rock as one of Liz Lemon's boyfriends. Jon Hamm was also a Liz boyfriend at a different time, both of them are hilarious! Sorry, I can do "what else was this actor in" all day :-) One more: If you've seen This Is Spinal Tap (and I bet you have), you might recognize Shadwell as David St Hubbins (Michael McKean). Another fun game for when you watch S2 is "which actors from S1 are now playing completely different characters?" I think there are 4 of them but I might be forgetting someone(s).

I've got S1 episode 5 dropping on here in a little while, along with maybe episode 6 (the S1 finale) later today. I honestly completely forgot Daniel Mays was in Doctor Who too, I just knew him as Jim Keats in Ashes To Ashes, the follow on series to Life On Mars (both incredible shows). OH MY GOD! That random guy was STRAX?! It's so weird, because seeing him I was thinking... there must be a reason he's pointed out. As in that he must be a guest cameo or something. Turns out he kind of was! Wait... WOAH! I had NO idea "The House" was Sheen! That's so cool. I know at that time I'd not seen him in anything other than "Heartlands". Thank you so much for letting me know. I'm seeing connections left, right and centre now. Yeah, if there's this many then there are probably more. Aw, you're so welcome! I have seriously been loving watching this! I can't wait to start Season 2! Thank you so much for helping me notice those references. I'll definitely point them out more in the edits! Ooh yes, one more I'd noticed on a re-watch of episode 1 today and it turns out is also in the finale too (after having seen the full S1 and not spotted it first time around)... the car number plate that Adam's parents have is "SID RAT", which is TARDIS backwards! Besides the actors you mentioned, Nina Sosanya (Sister Mary/Mary Hodges) was in the 10th Doctor ep "Fear Her," Daniel Mays (Adam's father) was in the 11th Doctor ep "Night Terrors," and Dan Starkey (random guy who told Aziraphale "You're better off without him") was Strax, a Sontaran, in several 11th and 12th Doctor episodes. Probably there are more! (Well, also Michael Sheen voiced The House in the 11th Doctor ep "The Doctor's Wife," which was written by Neil Gaiman!) This has been a lot of fun, thank you! I'm looking forward to the rest of the end of the world :-)
