I was not expecting such a deep, flawed but positive character! He's such a shining beacon.
Also, it was nice to see Connie Corleone move on from a terrible person to a great one!! The love story was adorable, and I really enjoyed seeing her open up, and him be honest. There are just so many positive things in this movie 🤩😭
I'm very interested in seeing the next one 😁

🤣🤣I'm glad you enjoyed the dancing training montage lol!! It's such an uplifting and amazing sequence, with the theme and everything!!! Going 15 rounds with the champ is mind blowing! His humble nature also instantly makes people root for him and like him :D For sure the scene where he basically prevents Adrian from leaving did NOT age well. It's fascinating to see how things have changed over time (thankfully). She looked trapped and it's hard to tell if she was going along with it because she had to, or was actually interested in him. I try to not judge too harshly the romance aspect of older films because they're a product of their time. But that means I really need them to show me/tell me what the characters really think since the situations usually look bad/uncomfortable😅 I'm SUPER curious to get to Rocky 5 to see what the hell went wrong for it to almost be the only one that people dislike 🤣

I also love seeing you get so excited about dogs! 🦮🐕🦺🐕This film is such a masterpiece because despite the protagonist losing, he still feels like a winner. He proved he wasn’t a pushover or a bum (bum means deadbeat/loser btw) that he could stand toe to toe with the best. The only aspect of this film that has aged poorly I think is the scene where Rocky pressures Adrian into his apartment. He kind’ve gives off Rapeosaurus Rex vibes🦖 - Coaxing her to come in, not letting her use the phone, taking his shirt off, physically blocking her from leaving, taking her glasses off. I know the film was implying that she wanted him and was just shy but seriously Rocky, walk her home. That scene always makes me uncomfortable. As far as which films are the best - they’re almost all equally as good except for five. Five is almost universally despised and not seen as canon by many. I look forward to watching the rest with you Verocakes!! 🍰🍰🍰

2025-09-12 21:21:04 +0000 UTCI think Paulie is important to the story because the implication is he came up with Rocky, and Rocky could very easily have been like Paulie if not for his refusal to give in to his situation. I also like how Rocky is trying to protect Paulie by refusing to get him involved with the gangster/loan shark he works for, and Paulie is too bitter to recognise it.
