Sunshine (2007) * FULL LENGTH REACTION

Thanks to our Marble Winner Rob for this! I know you've been wanting me to watch this one for a while, I hope the reaction was worth the wait!!

A stacked cast, fantastic soundtrack, great director and great screenwriter makes for an incredible film!

I was NOT expecting to have all these actors working together, so that was a very nice surprise. A gripping tale and, honestly, it was fascinating to see what each character did in different situations.

It's a rollercoaster of emotions, that's for sure 🤩

For this style of reaction, you need your own copy to watch the movie.  You can set picture in picture by right clicking twice on the video and selecting "Picture in picture". The right clicking twice is a bit tricky, because you have to right click, then move your cursor so it's not on the menu, then right click again

Thank you so much for being here and watching along with me!!

Yes! Overall I don't think the movie gets as much love as it deserves. It feels like everyone did such a great job in all aspects of the film

My pleasure, thank you for choosing it! The pinbacker plotline is definitely the weakest, I think having Searle sabotaging the ship and basically having him become like Pinbacker was would have been more to my liking. Make him because the baddie type of thing, and get rid of the supernatural aspect.

The movie has its faults, for sure, but I appreciate how many genres it draws inspiration from and how diverse and star-studded the cast is. What a fun time! The cinematography is one of my favorite aspects. Every shot looks so stunning. The movie does a great job of conveying both the astonishing beauty and the dangerous, unrelenting environment of space. They are also really playful with using the Dutch angle technique of rotating the camera on its roll axis to help convey the lack of real up and down "direction" in space (a trick used masterfully in The Expanse, as well). The Pinbacker plotline is the least compelling for me. It isn't "bad," but it has too many faults to ignore and leans too far into the supernatural for my taste. Additionally, some scenes deviate significantly from established scientific principles, which detracts somewhat from my enjoyment of the movie; however, these are minor criticisms for an otherwise great film. Thanks for checking it out!
