Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) * FULL LENGTH REACTION

Thank you to one of our Producers for this one (and the previous two Indiana Jones movies!!)

Oh what fun, it is to ride with dear old Dad!

I just have two words for this movie: Pure fun!

A wild ride but so many great moments. The script is incredibly solid, and the dialogue is fantastic. Sean Connery plays the physicality of the dad so well, it's obvious that he is not good in the field. The contract between father and son is a joy to watch, with Indy having fun in the chase but his dad really not giving two shits about it.

I completely get why so many people love this one! It just goes to show that the best comedy is a serious delivery (for me).

I also love the origins of the name Indiana 🤣

For this style of reaction, you need your own copy to watch the movie.  You can set picture in picture by right clicking twice on the video and selecting "Picture in picture". The right clicking twice is a bit tricky, because you have to right click, then move your cursor so it's not on the menu, then right click again

Thank you so much everyone for your support, I couldn't do this without you 🥰

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) * FULL LENGTH REACTION

Comments

I never said they are "bad" They just lack soul. I love watching the most horrible B movies ever. Because some of them have soul. Trying to find the gems. Samurai Cop, Troll 2, Miami Connection etc. Not just a hollywood cash grab. How can you top how this movie ended? You cannot, and they did it in the search for more money.

Daniel Looney

I watched "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" (2023) and found it worthwhile. Perhaps not comparable to "Raiders" or "The Last Crusade", subjectively, but definitely glad I watched it. I hope Verowak does watch and react to "...Dial of Destiny".

ButtercupsTrueLove

This is definitely one of the best Indiana Jones movies, but I think the first probably still tops it for me. 4 is incredibly underrated, and very much worth watching. I think it measures up to the original trilogy even if I do have some issues with it. Dial of Destiny however… is very much a modern Disney legacy sequel, and is exactly as empty and soulless as that would imply. Not without its moments but it’s the only one that was neither written by Lucas or directed by Spielberg, and it shows.

Razor Bikini

And George Lucas has named it as one of his inspirations for the original "Star Wars"

JAKH

Yes, that was him “David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived”. Turns out I was wrong about him dying later, sorry. I’m happy to learn he’s still alive.

James Hadden

The Guns of Navarone is like movie history so many people loved that movie.

Scott Howard

Then I won't say more unless you tell me that you want to know and promise you wouldn't consider him having this role to be a spoiler.

JAKH

If that's the case, that's really neat! It's always fun recognizing sets/places from other movies

Verowak

This warms my heart to hear!!! That's absolutely amazing

Verowak

I know one stunt actor from Harry Potter became paralyzed, and if I recall correctly, Daniel Radcliffe has been part of his life ever since (he was his stunt man). But it's possible that others have died on that set :( Ahh Seth Rogen, definitely not an actor that I'm interested in watching 🤣 I think I've seen him in a handful of trailers and that was too much already

Verowak

Ah yes, The Fugitive is one that I know of, the rest I know very few of the titles. I'm always surprised at how many movies you know!

Verowak

I have no idea what you're talking about, so I don't know 🤣

Verowak

I assume that you know that Harrison Ford is taking over the role previously played by another great actor who recently passed away in an upcoming installment of a popular franchise. Warning: on-set pictures and finished post-production stills from this upcoming movie at the top of Harrison Ford's IMDB page, if that is a problem for you.

JAKH

Harrison Ford: "Witness" (1985) "The Fugitive" (1993) "Force 10 From Navarone" (1978) "The Expendables 3" (2014) "Six Days, Seven Nights" (1998) Sean Connery: "Entrapment" (1999) Adventure to recover artifacts: "The Mummy" (1999) "The Shadow" (1994) "The Phantom" (1996) (Allan Quatermain and) "King Solomon's Mines" (1985) "Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold" (1986) "Romancing the Stone" (1984) "The Rundown" (2003) Pursuit by Nazis: "Von Ryan's Express" (1965) "The Guns of Navarone" (1961) You mentioned the desert scenery at the beginning: "The Eiger Sanction" (1975)

JAKH

Some of the sets in the castle, (the room with the fireplace, the hallway) look like they reused the castle sets from "Where Eagles Dare"

JAKH

There is also a live action TV series "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles" (1992, 1 season) episodic short adventures told in the style of the remembrances of an old Indy.

JAKH

I was wrong on the 6 thing. I agree with you. Every movie has something good in it. I thought I was VERY clear that there is good stuff in the movie sequels. Just warning you to lower expectations. ?? I was VERY clear....good stuff......just do not expect the peak again. You are on it now.

Daniel Looney

My very subjective opinion on the genres is that adventures would probably always contain action, but action movies can sometimes be purely that and not considered an adventure. Yeah, I believe a stuntman got severely injured on the set of one of the Harry Potter movies and later died from his injuries. My sister told me about it, I think there’s a documentary about him. I’ve only come up with one refusal so far, and that’s Sausage Party. I only managed 20 minutes tops before turning it off and will never give it another try. I think I’ve since determined I really dislike Seth Rogen. The only other movie I can currently remember turning off was the Independence Day sequel, I’ll never just sit down to watch it, but I’d consider it as a watch along.

James Hadden

Sometimes I'm not sure the difference between action and adventure since most adventure movies that I know of have a good deal of action. So maybe an adventure movie poll is due soon!! You're 100% correct, stunt people do NOT get paid what they're worth. The risks involved are high, I'm sure everyone's heard of accidents that happened on set only for the stunt person to be physically disabled for the rest of their lives (or they died). If there are movies that you would flat out refuse to watch, I'd be curious to know! I definitely want to continue the franchise, just to see what they're like. Harrison Ford is in it, so it can't be ALL bad, right?!

Verowak

I didn't know there was a 6th Indiana Jones 🤔It's always best to watch a movie in order to make my own opinion. I've yet to meet someone with my exact taste in movies, so I'll watch them and see for myself. There is always a redeeming quality in every movie (for me), so it won't be a waste of time to watch the newer ones

Verowak

This movie “belongs in a museum” for all to behold. Such fun, nicely balanced humour delivered with expertise. The only thing possibly better than 80s action movies is 80s adventure movies. For me, the most impressive thing about these movies is all of the stunt work - it’s just incredible. The amount of times someone threw themselves onto or off of a moving object is nuts. I doubt stunt men and women have ever got paid what they’re worth. I haven’t seen the latest Indy movie, and seem to remember not liking Crystal Skull that much, but I’d be happy to give them a watch along if you continue the franchise. To be fair, any excuse to sit and watch a movie works for me. I’m now going to have to sit and think if there’s any movies I’d flat out refuse to watch (unlikely) or rewatch.

James Hadden

This one is just an insane amount of fun! I'm glad to see directors try something like Temple of Doom, see the results then make changes to improve (at least in my opinion)

Verowak

100% This film, some of the old 'Laurel and Hardy' films and and for whatever reason.. 'Snow White and the seven Dwarfs' (any scene with Dopey) just has us in absolute stitches! He's 82 years old now and is still is a pure joy to watch some classics with him!

jim Howe

By far my favorite of the series, I never cared as much for temple for the same reasons you mentioned. The companions, even the female ones were all capable and independent, she just didn't fit, along for the ride but doesn't really contribute anything.

Bubba Fett

No don't watch 4, 5&6. Your life will be better if you do not. This movie ended perfectly. Fun, adventurous, whimsical, serious at times Hollywood......Lets Wait decades have no new ideas...Hey I know lets reboot the franchise! Yeah, not saying there are not good moments. Harrison Ford is a talented actor and the screen writers find a nugget every now and again. Just trust me, this is peak Indianna Jones. Everything else made decades later will just leave you disappointed. Do not lose your innocence.

Daniel Looney

It must be so fun watching it together! I just recently heard about the documentary so I'll have to check it out yes!!!

Verowak

Spielberg had Sean Connery as his top pick, one reason is so Indiana Jones' dad would be James Bond lol

Verowak

I agree - the script is spot on and Sean Connery never ceases to amaze with his versatility in funny scenes. I wonder if casting had him in mind after reading the screenplay, because his name would not have occurred to me until AFTER I watched the movie.

ButtercupsTrueLove

Love it! Myself and my Dads favourite film to watch together. Also, regarding the incomparable John Williams, there's a documentary on Disney plus called 'Music By John Williams' that's well worth a watch!
