Heimerdinger being kicked out of the council is unfortunate, but not unexpected. He has such different ideals and morals than everyone else.
I love that Jinx used the beacon that Vi gave her when they were younger and said she would find her no matter what. She kept it all this time!! π₯°
Jinx still has some Powder left in her, worried that Vi is gone again. She's the lost little girl π

Everything will work out in the end right? Vi, Jinx and Caitlin are going to become best friends. Silco will realize the error of his ways while topside will change their minds too, and they will all unite and be happy together. I can't see it going any other way ππ€£

I did skip some of the paragraphs you wrote because if the series hasn't told me about a character or their backstory, then I don't want to know. I'll either find out later in the series, or have my own assumptions. I do like how it's hard to know if Jayce and Mel's relationship is real, it definitely felt like a power play at first, but we're seeing more closeness. How that will affect things in the end, I'm curious to find out π¨ I am constantly amazed at the storytelling in this, with everything that you pointed out. It really feels like so much work and time was put into crafting this story, down to the fine details. It makes it impossible for me to even find favorite characters, scenes, storylines, etc. It's all so amazing!! π€©

2024-05-29 04:57:41 +0000 UTCPhew, what a heart-wrenching ending of act 2. Once again Vi was taken away from Powder/Jinx, once again Powder/Jinx was left behind, feeling abandoned. Great reaction as always. π The old scientist Viktor meets in the cave is Singed. His name is never mentioned, but the subtitles gave it away. He was the scientist that created Shimmer for Silco and here we saw how he did it. He used the purple flowers and the mutated Rio for it. The young girl that watches young Viktor in the flashback is Sky, his and Jayces lab assistant. I guess this was the moment they first met and around this time she developed her crush on Viktor. It is really impressive that she managed to follow him to the Academy of Piltover, given that she had the same disadvantages that VIkotr had. She must be as smart and tenacious as Viktor to have managed that. It speaks volumes of the quality of storytelling in this show, that even though she has only very little screentime, we learn so much about her. For me she's the unsung hero of this show. Who knows how much it had cost her to ask him to walk home together with her in the last epsiode, only to be turned down by him. He only seems to live for his work. And now that his time is drastically shortened, even more so. Is their any non-tragic love story in this show?? π¨ππ Speaking of love stories. Until this morning Jayce was Mel's useful toy, her second vote in the council (the old councilor being the third) and her way to more power, wealth and - I guess π - great sex. Now he shows his vulnerability to her and to her surprise, she is touched by it. Like you I have the feeling that their feelings for each other are genuine, so opens up to him a bit. Jayce was always attracted to her, right from their first real meeting that night at the academy. Jinx get's her drink in the same cup she used as a child, from the same kind of bottle we saw Vander pouring her a drink. She get's it with a straw, just like from Vander. She even sits in the same spot. Oh these little moments where Powder shines through. π¨π Sevika is cold. How she pulled out all the stops to make Jinx loose her shit, oh man. She put the thought of Vi replacing her with Caitlyn in Jinx' head. Sevika wants war and a riled up Jinx is a good way to escalate things. Vi led them to her early childhood home, the last place with happy memories for the sisters. My guess is she let Caitlyn carrie her there so she can die at home, but Cait was unexpectedly successful in finding help and saved her. π¨ππ Did you hear Vanders words echo in Vi's mind, when Caitlyn tells her that she has a good heart? I miss him... π ...but I am so glad that Caitlyn sees the same in Vi as Vander did. When Vi regaines conciousness, she sees her mother and little Powder looking at her, and her mother calling her name, but with Caitlyns voice. Oh, and Caitlyn. My romantic heart jumped and cheered at their lingering look after Caitlyn calmed Vi down. And did you see how nervous Caitlyn got afterwards and quickly changed the subject? She noticed it too. π Caitlyn traded her gun! Her custom-made gun she had since she was old enough to hold a gun (as you could see in the painting in ep. 2). It was pretty much an extension of herself and she traded it for medicine for Vi without any hesitation... π€©ππ - About Marcus: Could there be a more vicious thread to him than that of his daughter in her child's room? Silco showed him he can get them everywhere and anytime, despite him commanding all the enforcers of Piltover. Throwing Heimerdinger out of the council seems a bit much, but what choice did Jayce have? I guess Heimerdinger has seen terrible things that happend because of the (mis)use of magic and that fear lead him to do nothing and suppressing the research of magic, much like Vanders fear for the safety of his adopted children prevented him from fighting against the topside and turned the people to Silco. I am with Jayce on that matter, Heimerdingers inactions widened the rift between Piltover and Zaun. And he threatened to destroy the hexcore. That is nothing but a death sentence for Viktor. Should Jayce stand aside and watch his best friend die, while they have the technology to highly likely prevent that? Heimerdinger also never answers one of the questions Jayce and Viktor ask him. He always deflects and changes the subject. I think even Mel was surprised by Jayce's indeed bold move, but went along with it. She always pushed Jayce towards the leadership of the council, so she can reign through him, but she didn't seem to expect such a rash move. In the end it served her interests and she started to really like Jayce, will say her emotions begin to influence her political decisions. π€ The whole sequence from the water tower to the end of the episode was just brilliant. It was tragic, moving, heartbreaking and so extremely well done. Vi finally worked together with Caitlyn, she saw her trying to bring the water tower down and picked up on it instead of fighting against Silcos Shimmer monsters. I got goosebumps when Jinx used the flare she got all those years ago from Vi. Now we know why she has blue smoke clouds tatooed all over her - It was Powders cry for her sister all the time! The music! The tormented ghosts of Mylo and Clagger on Jinx' back! π± "Are you real?" were the most heartbreaking words I've heard since episode three. ππ Vi and Powder didn't get the chance to really reunite - when Caitlyn entered the scene Sevikas words took full effect and turned Jinx immediatly against her. Of course it didn't help that Caitlyn indeed is an enforcer, the ultimate enemy from Jinx' point of view. The attack of the firelights then ended all attempts to talk. While this show is very well done overall, every episode has this one storytelling and/or character building moment that makes it outstanding: Ep. 1 - The two little girls on the battlefield. Ep. 2 - Vander and Vi talking on the bridge. Ep. 3 - Pretty much the whole episode is outstanding in every possible way. Ep. 4 - Powders reintroduction as Jinx. Ep. 5 - The brawl of Sevika and Vi. Vi and Caitlyn at the brothel. Ep. 6 - The short-lived reunion of Vi and Jinx. And it is no spoiler to say that the remaining act 3 has this moments, too. ππ Til then, have a nice week...πππ»ββοΈ
