These are the New Standards // Regulators Episode 1 - Patreon Ad-Free

In Regulators, we have set out to choose the regulation version of everything but the important twist: not all 5 members of the show can be present for an episode. Each episode will bring a different group arguing and debating what the regulation version of your favorite items are. Let us know what you think of our choices.

As a Brit living in London chip shops absolutely are open on Sundays

Amy Woolner

Both sides of the pie conversion are insane, its all good.

Fungal

it's absolutely ketchup, Gav.

Brian Short

I’m thinking the format needs to be adjusted a bit. Eric mentioned that the sesame bun is big standard and I believe that it should first be standardized with the Bog Standard of the category and then you do the Regulation. Plain hot dog is bog standard, the starting point if you will. Then you make it meet Regulations.

Nick K.

This needs to be re-done as they did not discuss cooking method for hot dogs or burgers...

PerniciousPumpkin

Perfect addition to the collection of new Supplemental Series

Hayden

The bun is the kind you would have at a cookout but the sauce…GARLIC AIOLI! Ridiculous man ketchup and mustard all day

Ben Martinez

Love to hear that

Nicholas Zook Brimer

That sauce is thousand island

Nicholas Zook Brimer

How did we agree on Hot Dog with Ketchup and Mustard, but the Burger has GARLIC AOLI??!! That is crazy, this sucks

Nicholas Zook Brimer

Red onion or yellow onion? And what about a housemate burger sauce (mixed ketchup, mustard, Mayo, and some chopped pickle)?

Collin Seymour

Okay I have a couple points to bring up about British food here, and I’m a British chef so I know, first off Meat and Potato pie is the best default regulation pie no doubt about it, maybe a chicken and mushroom, shepherd pie isn’t a pie at all. Also Gavin said a good fish and chip dinner on paper around the table is a is perfect on a Sunday, British fish a chips shops are not aloud to do business on Sundays, something about religion and not eating fish on Sundays I can’t really remember, so I have no idea where he got that from.

Cullain Herring

As someone who’s only just starting this episode reading these comments are crazy!

Cullain Herring

I don't think they understand what "regulation" means. it doesn't matter what they like or dislike, regulation is the standard. I don't like pickles or tomatoes on my burger, but when I think of a regular burger, it has pickles and tomatoes on it.

Mark Noble

Garlic Aioli is fuckin wild

Joshua Neditch

I'm a crinkle cut person myself

Tina

garlic aioli as a regulation is WILD to me.

D. K.

An apple podcast not choosing apple pie is insane

nick h

Regulation Car/Mini-van/Truck would be fun

Buggy52

Oh man I haven’t had a good pot pie in forever

Buggy52

Agreed?

Buggy52

Also making ketchup and mustard regulation for a hot dog and not a burger…. Just crazy. Still boggles my mind.

Rachel F

Gavin is ridiculous freaking out about a plain hotdog and about ketchup. Ketchup is gross and I won't eat anything with it lol

Jennifer Sinclair

I honestly find it very hard to believe anyone under 17-18 watch our regulation boys

Eduardo Lopez

Did Gavin say he was at a Waitrose? When was this recorded?

MaplexSyrup

For me: Ketchup on hotdogs, ketchup on burgers (no cheese), apple pie.

Martin

Yep! I think pickles are a given also as you more often ask for them on the side (or not at all), but saying nothing will get you pickles on that burger.

smirkycoast

A burger dog is basically a chopped cheese.

Diego Wright

I'm a fan of all the regulation foods as of date

NerdTronJJ

It's a Brit, a Californian, and an insane person so what can you expect for burgers

Jerry Potts

Not going to lie I paused after the Hot dog and went and made 4 Regulation dogs

NerdTronJJ

Gavin is the only one who understands "what is the most common/easily recognizable version" is what "regulation" means. But he also tried to argue that a meat pie is the default/regulation pie, which is just lunacy.

MrsNesbitt

Chicken pot pie? Beef pot pie?

Nick Iwanski

Absolutely not?

Tim Robinson

This might be the first piece of content to get me legitimately angry for no justifiable reason

Stove

No Mayo on a hotdog??

Hector Sanchez

I don't know why Americans in general are so against savory pies. They can be fantastic. Same thing with Brits and fruit pies. The burger they are totally wrong on, that is ketchup and mustard or Thousand Island. With Gavin's love of Big Macs I am surprised he didn't fight for that one.

ViciousWarGoose

Hot dog: agree Fries: agree Pie: debatable, but fine Burger: what in the hell were they thinking lol. It is 200% ketchup

Alex Meyer

Regulation Required End cap Pizza Dental office

Astrid Fairwinds

I feel like Gavin was doing "What is the most common version?" and the other two were doing "We are the regulation people, we decide what's regulation."

Cory Mingo

Also Shepherds Pie is just bad tater-tot hotdish

RegulationRat

Christ the British suck at making food.

RegulationRat

(Warren g playing in the background)

Regulation Jeff

Absolutely floored that when Andrew says he wants mozzarella as the cheese on a burger that neither one of you Dove on him for that that's nutzo Asylum level thoughts

Steven Marcum

It has been my experience that waffle-cut fries are the most likely to be undercooked.

Jeremy Hixon

No pickles is insane. This sux!

Jonathan Gonzalez

Um... I don't think they should be. Have you listened to fuckface? (For patron exclusives at least. That's not public. It can be labelled as explicit and it is the subscribers choose to avoid or interact with it)

Murk

Garlic aioli? Nah that's not a regulation burger, sorry.

Patrick Mcgowan

Garlic aioli is insane as regulation. It’s definitely ketchup.

Rachel F

You do realize kids watch this to 😆.

killnjoke_8701

I would like an additional regulation judgement on what cooking method is used for a regulation hotdog.

Alex Watson

I'm with gavin on the pies. Give me a chicken and mushroom pie anyday

Jake Porter-Ward

Now I'm hungry. Thanks guys.

David Mead

Regulation Burger is 100% ketchup as to not be too overpowering of a flavour in my opinion🤷‍♂️

Brandon Gill

Fully agree. If a regulation hot dog is mustard and ketchup, a regulation burger is cheese and ketchup + lettuce. What they talked about sounds leagues better than that, but its way more fance than regulation surely?

KVLT

Gonna need the Geoff and Nick reactions ASAP

Libby Goldstein

Theres a reason theyre seasonal… lol

LZ

These chips need chicken salt

Glenn Fowler

The meat pie is the standard

Jake

Burger King did a long cheeseburger.

Russell Richardson

By its own nature isn't everything brought up nonregulation due to not having the full regulation cast voting on the items. Really what should have been done is either all five arguing or do what was done with the sandwich where each person adds an item to make the whole, however at least with the hot dog and burger I could see a majority pick on the type of meat. Those super thin fries look like hashbrowns more than fries. Aioli is just fancy mayo. Thousand islands is such an insane pick, and no I at least have never seen nor heard of it used in a burger

Anthony Dewitt

I agree with this 100%. As someone who doesn't eat onion or tomato on burgers, I have to ask to not have them at every single burger place and I also know mayo and ketchup will be on there too which I like. Pickles / lettuce aren't always on burgers but any good burger place will have them.

Trevor Deal

plain dog + a slice of cheese

Cameron Johnson

In what freaking world is ketchup not the standard for burgers. Listen, if you don't like ketchup that's fine but to claim it's not the standard is crazy. Mayo and ketchup are the two things that come standard across most restaurants.

Trevor Deal

Gavin, I'm sorry, but you're just wrong on pie

Chris Buckley

never felt more American than when Gavin dared open his mouth about pumpkin pie

Jeb Bush

Coleman’s mustard is so good. You have to try it Eric! Small doses though!😮‍💨

Russell Richardson

This rules I'm with Gavin on the burger

Joe

agreed

Joe

@Eric: Ever have a lacy-edge smashburger? Best kind in my opinion https://www.thetakeout.com/beef-salt-and-elbow-grease-the-simple-smashed-burger-1798262103/

Capt137

I agree

rwtk

Here me out Shepard's pie, but it's ground beef browned, mixed with cream of mushroom, and corn. Then you spread mashed potatoes in top and layer it with cheese on the tippity top. It's delicious

Piecez14

Absolutely loved the pie banter. So entertaining

Max Gutierrez

No pickles on a regulation burger is insane.

Reese

Does no one else put cheese on their hotdogs? Like shredded cheese… (not a chilli cheese dog)

Doogie

"plain dogs" ok they order off the kids menu lmao

Tully O'Reilly

That’s a deregulation burger for sure. I think the whopper is a regulation burger

Ivan Mejia

I personally cant accept any of these as regulation because they didn't have the input of all 5 members.

LawlessReaper

We're on patreon now for a reason. I get that some of the crew are a little... 'reserved.' But I say YAY to hotdog/penis spot the difference. We're all adults here and that sound hilarious.

Murk

I feel like they went Regulation, Regulation, Regulation, weird specific thing

Chris

Nothing on this show has made me as irrationally angry as the cheesecake pie conversation. Meat pies forever.

Merjia

Eric's Californian showed when he said 1000 island for his dressing on the burger.

CloudyVro

Gavin kept bringing up points I couldn't get where he was coming from UNTIL burgers, if u specificy hamburger(s) that's no cheese and burgers are auto cheese

CloudyVro

Everytime I see or hear steak fries, my mind goes to the Venture Bros. episode where the Monarch goes "Steak fries... always soggy" in a disappointed voice. Everytime lol

Offbeat Creates

Personally I'm an only mustard for a Regulation Dog but I get why they chose both ketchup and mustard. I like to pre-coat the bun a little with some mustard before I put my dog in. Once the dog is set in I wiggle and slide it for optimal mustard spread then I do a little more on top in the shape of little dots. Small McDonalds fries aren't it for me. I like a standard more girthy fry like the #2 Belgian from the chart. That would be my Regulation Fry but I personally love the waffle frys with the curly fry seasoning they mentioned. Those with some seasoned sour cream are so good. Salt is assumed. I would put cheesecake in the pie section but that's just me. I'd say the most Regulation Pie is the classic apple with the cross hatch weaved top crust with a dollop of either whipped cream or ice cream on top. Pie must be HOT. Gavin you're insane. Aldi sells a bag of brioche sesame seed buns and those are my favorite. Although a brioche just in regular form would be my Regulation Bun. I'm in agreeance that a burger must have cheese and it should be a simple yellow american. I'm more of a sharp cheddar person but it doesn't melt the same way. A perfectly built burger is lettuce, mayo, 3 chip style pickles, 1/4lb patty, cheese, and mustard, all inside the brioche bun. The order of ingredients in the correct layers is pretty important to me. Thousand Island is a very acceptable replacement for mayo but there should be less of it because it's pretty potent. Ketchup sucks. Can you please regulate type/shape of ice, gatorade flavors, and what to do with the 2 shitty end pieces of bread.

Joker

All regulation food designs MUST be in the new cook book

Joshua Evans

Gavin is 100% right about pumpkins. They should NOT be eaten.

Justin D

Regulation dog? Ketchup mustard Regulation fry? Standard fries with salt. Regulation pie? Apple pie. My favorite is pecan but apple is a year-round kind of pie. Fried apple pie? Oh yeah

A Cow Pi

i love meat pies and a sweet pies its att great! though a lot of people use to much sweet in the sweet pie

Sir Fishy

I hate gavins taste buds, and im not sorry about it

killnjoke_8701

Pukka Pie sounds like some anime food I would fantasize about as a child.

Yo Mama

also, every mustard, all the time. mustard is a standard for a dog. any other stuff is just dressing. i might agree or disagree, but it has to have a form of mustard.

Robert Gibbens

I disagreed at points, and agreed at points, but man, a crispy pickle on a burger? delicious. i think that people assume they're going to get the same limpy pickles on a burger, which is the standard, which is a travesty.

Robert Gibbens

I really like the idea of finding the regulation band/artist for each major genre of music

Mojo Jostar

Plain hot dogs club 🙌

Natalie

If I wanted cheese on my burger than I would ask for a cheeseburger. If you say hamburger then there better not be cheese near it. You guys are so backwards it’s not even funny. Complete disconnect from reality.

Mr. Dude Sky

In my experience a regulation burger is usually mayo or mustard if you order a standard burger and don't make changes. Personally though I mix mustard and ketchup together on both top and bottom bun.

Robert Lacey

Thanks for all the hard work on these videos/podcasts lads

Joakim XwIIcK Lundberg

Like Eric said at the end, I can’t wait to hear what the others have to say. There’s gonna be some good arguments lol

Taylor Hickey

I felt a genuine kinship with Eric when he said he hates ketchup but then he followed it with a hatred of yellow mustard as well and now he is my mortal enemy 🙃

Summer

Adding the garlic aioli to the regulation burger is insane.

Adam Wyckoff

I appreciate how discussing your hotdog consumption is an accurate way to date the recording

Cody Eller

I agree with all of Eric’s foodpinions down to the thousand island dressing EXCEPT for the savory pie stance

Spoon

There are Ploughman's everywhere for those with the eyes to see

Michael Meis

Get Andrew to red robin...

jacob schultz

I will suggest that the plain dog on plain bun is the Competition Dog as opposed to the Regulation Dog

Isaiah

I"m kinda with Gavin on the burger, and I think the problem arises from this: the dogs/fries/pies they did the "generic, everyone likes this = regulation" process. Then on burgers, they went full regulation bagel on it, which is fine, but it's just a complete 180 on what they did with the first 3 foods. But this was fun regardless.

Chad Jorgenson

Gavin must never have had a cheese and onion pie

Katherine

As a British person, EVERYONE in the pie section was infuriating. 😂Sweet and savoury pies are both great.

Preposterous

The pumpkins you use to make food aren’t typically even close to the same as a jack-o-lantern

Clark Sturdevant

Regulation burger from top to bottom: sesame seed bun, lettuce, fry sauce, Colby Jack cheese, burger, sesame seed bun. Thank you for listening.

Piecez14

Plain dog is a regulation raw dog

Tim Harris

I feel like this REALLY needed the condiment guy and the sauce monkey.

Mikhail Davis

I'm very excited to mount up, Piss Rats

Chaz Surfboard

This sounds like a very good supplemental can’t wait to watch later

Darren Lloyd

oh i’m ready 🍿
