Impossible Movie Things Draft // Regulation Supplemental

Oh we got an idea! What things happen in movies but don't happen in real life? AN EGG gets together to pick the best of the best of things that tricked you on film. There are so many things to chose from that we might not be able to contain it all in one video! This draft is just too big!

Impossible Movie Things Draft // Regulation Supplemental

Comments

“Shaking off some shit”- aka No Selling

Kerry(TD4949)

YOU KNOW IN STAR WARS, WHEN THE MILENNIUM FALCON FLIES AWAY FROM THE EXPLOSION? THAT WAS BULLSHIT!

Kerry(TD4949)

Chloroform would've been my first round pick. Y'know when people get knocked out with the rag over the mouth. That's just not how it works

John Samuel

This was a fanastic draft

drblackgaard

I watched this whole video but somehow completely forgot it existed

Jonathan

I got some more: "pre-murder engine trouble" and "keys in the sun shield"

Boogurt

I'd like to throw in "type faster to hack harder" as a favorite impossible movie trope.

Boogurt

Im adding "if they aren't in frame, they dont exist" The amount of times characters are surprised by somebody in their line of sight but dont see them because they are out of frame is insane.

Randomocity732

eric wins this easy

RyanLCC1

The jangle noise that swords and guns make from moving around. If your sword or gun is just making noise from pointing it, then they are trash.

Cole

Gav continuing his horny streak with that last pick lol

ABotNamedScoobyDoo

Instead of drinking, they're playing Dodge the Bov

Gurp Durpler

I think Rush Hour could encompass all of Eric’s picks

TheSteelWolfMan

Could literally do a draft on Impossible Movie Things using just the Fast and Furious franchise

Robson Rages

As someone born in 96, Andrew almost won me over with the Spy Kids pick 😂

Nomdro

There is a skit on YouTube showing the between the montage scene. I forgot the YouTubers that do it. It’s 2 guys. Anywho. It’s like Nicks 4th pick. Hilarious.

Noxious Productions

I immediately remembered that McDonalds Microwave from SpyKids, stood out so clearly to me as a kid

Drew Keeley

The unpunished felonies are my favorite. Especially with the end of movies with no consequences to the main character. Like in slashers and they come out at the end seeing them being covered up in a blanket and cops surrounding the crime scene. They just believe the main character was the victim

Griffin Hains

I feel like Deadpool could encompass all of Eric’s picks

Cameron

I vote for any of the rush hours for Eric's collective 🤣

Lisa Lynch

Seeing Ana in Frozen do the exact opposite of waking up primed and ready to go was very funny to me, even if the movie was animated

Derrick Zabel

As a 27 year old, I have wanted nothing more than that microwave from Spy Kids, Andrew took my vote with that pick alone

Derrick Zabel

Okay, I googled this because I STG I was right and, admittedly, got mixed answers. It sounds like You can close them, but due to the way the muscle in the eyelids work, they do tend to lull open. RM makes it all but impossible to pull off.

Mikayla Matz

Rigor mortis takes like 2 hours to begin to set in. If the character recently died, you'd absolutely be able to close their eyes.

Cory Mingo

Cannot believe no one chose "close eyes of dead person". Due to RM those eyes would not stay closed.

Mikayla Matz

Will Farrell literally does that explosion thing in the other guys. Also in the same movie he does a desk pop and mentions how incredibly loud it is.

nick h

Gavin wins for the Jazmin thing alone, had to walk away from my desk at work i was laughing too hard

Wilson Martino

I was 100% Eric when he did the “follow that car” and then Andrew hit me with the “McDonald’s microwave” and I Had To vote for him. God tier pick. Love that move and have ALWAYS wanted it

LynkedLyd

I think Paul Blart Mall Cop 2 has all of these 👍

Alex Watson

Along with the food thing I hate when someone has a whole elaborate breakfast setup and takes one bite then leaves, brother the waste of food is insane

Amy Woolner

Geoff, lemme tell you, i was walking on a beach and i sunk all the way up to my nuts in quicksand and would've sunk lower had i not thrown myself forward as far as i could. It does exist

Tom Herondale

I think a lot of these come up in Back to the Future 2

Dustin

This is where my mind went to immediately lol

Eric Jones

Not the movie Geoff might be thinking of during Gavin's jerk off pick but the only one that came to mind for me is It's What's Inside, I watched that a few weeks ago and that's how it starts

Dan Walsh

For Eric's last pick, the problem with being mobbed with people is, unless they're specifically trained to work together, they would constantly get in each others way. You *might* be able to mob someone, but more likely half the group would trip over the other half while trying to get to the person.

Zorque

Sequel draft!!!

DumGun

The fist one that immediately came to mind is restarting someone's heart with a defibrillator instead of doing chest compressions. Also the EKG machines showing a straight line and going beeeeeeeep when their heart stops.

Nina Kuurasuo

Honorable mention: the cabbage merchant in avatar the last Airbender getting his stands destroyed in every city he moves to

DumGun

No Porn Pre-Roll would be good, but where's Jasmine is gold

ScoobDrew

Eric’s got my vote. He’s got every trope I hate

Jacob McArthur

Andrews movie is possible though he might need a go fund me for like a short 15 minute film where he hires on Bruce Willis, Tom Cruise, and Ving Rames. I think if he can get all of them in he could get Gavin for pretty cheap for this short film. Andrew really gonna have to hustle for this though.

Matthew Hughes

Andrew clearly hasn’t seen The Other Guys. There’s a scene with Will Ferrell screaming about how they couldn’t walk away from an explosion

Carlos A.

Gavin's LiveJasmine pick made me laugh until I thought I was gonna throw up. I don't think I've laughed that hard in years

MrsNesbitt

Geoff.sucks

Dijon

I thought Gav was saying "Jazz man" and was very concerned/confused until I looked down

Keenan Cleary

Atomic Blonde is such a good movie that doesn’t use “shaking off some shit”

John Bishop

Thanks for all the hard work on these videos/podcasts lads !

Joakim XwIIcK Lundberg

God, Gavin's last pick made my day. I love this new Gavin arc.

SeriesOfLettersInSomeKindOfOrder

Being shot point blank and you think the chatacter is dead. It's ok, it was a blank. Ok, you'd still be incredibly hurt. And women giving birth looking like they've just been out for a light jog and that's it.

Dr Pompidou

Gav earned my poll vote with his last pick

Uncle Coagula

❤️

EnragedPanda6

Great draft. Wo up is have been good to see some pictures that they are sending each other

dylan bebbington

Realized this whole watching Coco of all things but biggest for me is “saving someone from a long fall in a way that would actually injure them just as much,” mainly when someone who can fly catches someone who’s already fallen almost all of they way, such as the scene in Coco, like someone catching you would still give you whiplash and probably break your neck, like how it does in Amazing Spider-Man 2, the only movie not to do this

Emmanuel J Ross Hartway

Bullets do not keep traveling underwater! Worst part of Saving Private Ryan. They go like 12-18" max, and then completely break apart.

Luke Waggoner

Rush Hour 2 has all of Eric's. Knocking a guy out and attacking one at a time are obvious, Carter jumps in the taxi and says "Follow that car" which leads to a great language breakdown, and then there's various gun fights, like in back of the Chinese restaurant.

Luke Waggoner

This needed to be 2 hours long! 😂 It was so much fun I didn’t want it to end!

Russell Richardson

In my opinion, Gavin won. Such a fun draft.

Stonecoldcreamery316

Was looking for this before I said the same thing

Russell Richardson

Ok next project for the guys - make this movie. that's it. i want a shortfilm with all of these tropes

Mathieu Apers

I would pick - Hitting a machine and it does exactly what the character needed it to do. - Gun silencers - The sound when someone is drinking with through a straw. - Pretty once you take your glasses off. - Perfectly dead center head shots - Catching someone from falling or lifting up and their arm doesn't get ripped out the socket. - Every couch and table is bulletproof. - Character plugs in USB in first try without looking.

Don L

Landscaper here. holes being dug easily or quickly

Tony K

Surprised they never mentioned the whole "hanging up the telephone without saying goodbye" thing

Nathaniel Borgen

this rules

Joe

I have thought about the Spy Kids McDonald's microwave at least once or twice a year for the last 20 years!

Sean Heraty

Oh, I'm 100% going with Eric as the winner. Then Geoff, Nick, Gavin, Andrew.

nd4spd1919

Putting a wig on Bruce Willis seems like real bald-headed behavior, but I guess it's the opposite of that?

Riley Pearsall

Andrew's is very funny but everyone else is so good this is going to be a tough win

Andrew Owen

Car physics in movies, awd or fwd cars drifting or the 20,000 gears in cars that somehow just keep shifting in fast n furious

Zach Spencer

Jasmine is spelled with a Z in this instance. Don’t ask me how I know, I just know.

Joshua Neditch

https://www.patreon.com/collection/651369?view=expanded Hopefully this link works for you Their is a section in the collections on the patreon for Draft Polls

spectorpanzers

100% expected: “turn on the tv… any channel.”

Cameron Wiess

This was awesome. Secondary challenge, if anyone can find a movie going across rows, that'd be impressive

ClaytonNotSatan

When someone racks a gun and they don't lose a bullet.

Laban Cox

Do they get deleted after? I can't find any of the old polls on the Patreon either

numbr87

The Zoom and Enhance tech was first featured in Blade Runner (1982), there was a whole video game centered around it, and it was an awesome PC game for its era.

Eedrah A

They go up the day after in the morning!

Regulationpod

If you’re gonna do a sequel draft, it’s got to be another Childhood Ads draft

Jonathan Williams

Where's stormtrooper aim? Every action movie bad guy has terrible aim

Mark Hansen

My top pick would have been timers not lining up with actual time (bombs, countdowns, etc).

john meagher

Definitely an Eric win.

comment leaver.

There’s an explosion scene in The Other Guys with Will Ferrell that describes exactly what they were talking about

TheDoopster

everyone from 20 to 30 that i've talked to about spy kids always remembers the mcdonald's microwave, solid ass pick

B

this might be the closest one yet

Jadyn

Am I crazy or are there never actually any polls on the Patreon? I always just comment who I think won because I never see anything go up.

numbr87

great episode, love the energy. keep thinking about it being titled the neil degrasse tyson draft though

Anna Pickering

I truly believe Andrew thinks clarification and obfuscation mean the same thing, and not in the way that would be helpful

GordoniousCrnch

This rules

Joker

regarding the walking away from explosions bit and Andrew saying it seems like a Will Ferrell gag, its because it literally is. There's a moment in The Other Guys where there's an explosion and it knocks Will and Mark down and Will is on the ground screaming due to his ears being hurt and talking about how unrealistic movies are for showing people walking away from explosions

Sebastian Syrinx

Nick has only said one thing and I wanna vote for him

Joker

“Follow that car” could be a great supplemental in itself. Geoff in the “getaway car” Eric hails a cab and tell the driver “FOLLOW THAT CAR!”

Matt Renwood

Me and Andrew are only a few months apart in age and ABSOLUTELY. That McDonald’s microwave was the coolest thing I’d ever seen as a kid.

Paul Corona

Going on the height one, Bruce Wills is closer to Tom Cruise’s height. That my first hand account of them 😂

Chris Buckley

A few movie things that were not mentioned (Draft part 2?) Movie hacking / Hacking defense complete with bag CGI graphics Timers/Progress bars that are 100% accurate as opposed to just being a guess Movie/TV torture scenes when you can threaten the bad guys they always instantly tell you the truth while the heroes getting tortured never break Infinite ammo guns until dramatically appropriate to run out of ammo. And the last for now The Hero killing his way through 20 henchmen only to get to the boss and doesn't kill him for a nonsense reason.

Cpt Adder

I think this is the first time I picked Geoff as the winner, but he deserves it, he did great.

Eric

That was where he lost you huh

Chimp Steinham

Hard to decide between Geoff and Gavin for the actual win. But Andrew definitely wins the funniest! 🤣

nick clark

It’s an Eric win without any doubt

Spummer

What post 2000s movie does Bruce Willis wear a wig?

Don L

Geoff definitely wins this one for me, Andrew lost me with the Spy Kids microwave, I feel like fictional concepts invented for a movies universe doesn't really match the theme.

ToastyPenguin

i agree 100% with andrew on the mcdonald's microwave, that is still one of my favorite movie scenes of all-time.

Halfwit Studios

Picking Gavin as the winner just for that live Jasmin joke

Super Daddy Kyle

i wish they had the budget to make a movie that gets all of this right lol

AV

Andrew should of said, the insant food microwave.

cowboy

Writing on a screen being reflected on someone's face like the screen's a projector.

Joe

I love this draft, I feel like there is enough of these tropes they could do it again

Super Daddy Kyle

Andrew really went full Geoff for this draft

Mick 16

All henchmen knowing how to do spin kicks.

Joe

The most egregious zoom and enhance scene in a movie to me is X-Men origins wolverine, which takes place in 1979.

Eoin

Easy neck snaps like they're made of matchsticks.

Joe

They need an extended version of drafts. There are so many options for some of their recent draft. A double feature would be great

Jacob Gondringer

To me the zoom in enhance thing was started with Blade Runner but it worked there and people just saw it like hey cool imma use it regardless and it got out of hand 😂 Its also played like a tedious simple thing doesnt go like full bombastic on it.

Mick 16

All great choices, though Andrew's were insane. Gavin wins it for me with zoom/enhance and time travel fade.

Joe

I think it falls under "knocking someone out," but chloroform in particular does not work like it does in movies

Brittany F

Gavin definitely won this. I think the unpunished romantic felonies is so perfect to tons of movies

Ocean

Had to stop the episode to post this. Gavin picked Unpunished Romantic Felonies and all I could think of was Bruce Almighty. One of the few movies to show the consequences of doing something for romance with the effects of him moving the moon.

CrystalOnyx

My #1 choice would have probably been a giant breakfast feast set out when a character gets up and ready in the morning and all they have is a bite of toast and a sip of orangue juice

Lukow

Going in, my picks would be: Hair down/glasses off beauty routine, Unlimited ammo, Silencers, and Using video game controllers like a lunatic

Sean Place

I’m with Andrew. The spy kids microwave is something I think about too often

Dane

This is such an amazingly creative concept for a draft, all the picks were incredible and I laughed so much, fantastic work

Andy Hultgren

I would love if the guys did a watch-a-long where they do a drinking game-esque thing where they look out for all the tropes they named here

Colby

Blade runner is the absolute worst “zoom and enhance” culprit. They literally enhance behind something in the photo

Norm

There's plenty of things to pick from but one thing I want to address is the zoom/enhance origin. I cannot believe nobody mentioned Blade Runner. In my book that's the actual origin. He literally says one or the other more than at least a half a dozen times.

Godfatherrules

Yup. This would have been my first pic.

Godfatherrules

In America we didn’t have the PSA on house hippos so I thought it was real

Daniel Brown

Great choices all around but I’m going with Geoff’s. Crawling through air vents would have been my first pick.

dingdong45

In regards to walking away from explosion https://youtu.be/Sqz5dbs5zmo?si=Q2cCqDettKmsYjTn

Sean Fiore

Talking about zoom and enhance I’m disappointed nobody used the absurdity that was Patriot Games where they zoom and enhance just so Harrison Ford can identify an IRA camp through a pair of boobs

Kyle Bedford

MY CABBAGES

Animelady501

I WANTED THAT MICROWAVE SO BAD. Exact same age lol

Daniel Brown

Andrew talking about Will Ferrell with the explosion thing and I just kept thinking of The Other Guys

Anthony Caldwell

This rules.

Justin McCray

I really like Eric putting "Follow That Car" but I think Nick had better overall picks.

Austin Breuer

Finding the keys hidden in the sun visor of the car is something I've always thought is impossible.

Jacob Collier

Andrew dominated. He was incredibly specific but they each hit so hard.

Matthew McMinn

I wanna go with Nick, cuz they’re all solid, but I think Eric’s the choice, cuz they’re all really accurate.

Robert Gibbens

I'm voting for Gavin just for the time travel trope.

Mikhail Davis

I feel the 21 jumpstreet movies came close to poking fun at the unrealistic expectations in movies but it would definitely have to be a comedy that would point out some of these...... Or a Tarantino flick.

Tamir Tuvel

Eric absolutely dominated this draft. Also, regarding the “walking away from an explosion seems like a Will Ferrel bit” thing, it literally is: he’s featured on Cool Guys Don’t Look at Explosions by The Lonely Island.

Jeremy Pitt

Does Andrew think (I could stop my comment here) actors only play themselves in movies, not a character?

Derek Huigens

That Spy Kids microwave is such a great pick.

Victor Rivas

Nick with another 10/10 draft

Amanda Bain

I feel like kicks first 2 are kind of the same thing lol

William Smith

They definitely do the hearing loss justice in Black Hawk Down with the belt-fed crossfire scene

Chaz Surfboard

This drafts going to be unforgettable, if not for Andrews wild direction

Chaz Surfboard

Oh my god Gavin’s Live Jasmine pick was too real 😂

Cob

I really though gavin was going into time travel movies just in general getting time travel wrong not the specific photo fading issue 🤣

Raty Boy Troy

Every draft, Andrew always says there is a clear number one and it’s never anything obvious

Spoon

Not finished with the episode but the Will Ferrell explosion gag is from The Other Guys.

Zen Barlow

Never expected to get a Mcguffin draft on a Sunday but I'm glad to be here lol

David Brenton

Ahh I love a Regulation start to my Regulation day, with this Regulation Supplemental!

Dusty Kub

Haven't watched it yet, but as a general overview I am loving the Draft Era
