Zaundads - letter illustration process

High res of some more illustration I did, for a scene I wish we could have seen for the alt universe where Silco finds Vander's letter. I've also included the line art, as well as the very first iteration sketch I did, which was hella bad but I'm posting here because it's interesting to see the first attempt of anything, which usually never comes out right anyway. I almost gave up on this concept after that first sketch but I'm glad I didn't.

Even as a fan of Silco and Vander, however, my honest opinion if I stepped back and looked at the story and characters written as they are, I don't think Vander's letter would have really made that big of a difference on its own. Vander didn't say anything new in that letter that he didn't while being beaten and dragged across the bridge in s1 ep3, and how did Silco? "You still don't understand." Silco didn't want Vander's apology, he wanted Vander to fight for his cause, that was the core problem and the letter didn't address it. The only way the letter could have made a difference was if there were extenuating circumstances (Vi's death, for example) that pushed Vander toward's Silco's side (because Silco would never compromise on his ideology). Then if Silco found that letter, and approached Vander with it, with renewed efforts to persuade Vander to his side, that might have been enough to bring them together again to fight for Zaun.

That's enough zaundads for now, I think... I'll get back on the candids and maybe some Nezha 2 fan art!
