Voyage for Poon - Update!

Edit: Updated background and some slight motion tweaks.

Another shot from Voyage for Poon! I was pretty apprehensive about tackling this shot, ever since I made up the storyboards from Shia's original comic.

I could've just kept it as a still frame with eye blinks or lip flaps only... but where's the fun in that? I don't want to make it too easy on myself.

From the get go, I knew I wanted to give Tuvok a bit of that classic Vulcan brow raise, and I figured I could have the Kazon press the gun harder into Chakotay's neck. It wasn't till I started animating that I decided to add in the gun jab. With every other character moving, it looked weird to have Neelix standing completely still, so I gave him a little motion too.

This wound up being an EXTREMELY heavy comp. Four characters can get pretty heavy on it's own, but also every single character uses the artificial line boil trick that I used on the Misato animation (and Teen Titan's animation) to make it look more like traditional animation.

Well worth it though!

Still got some tweaking here and there (I think some of the timing is a bit off), but overall pretty happy with how this came out!
