ADOR Files Injunction Against NewJeans Members for Prohibition of Agency Status and Advertisement Contracts

Last week, ADOR filed an injunction with the Seoul Central District Court against the members of NewJeans to request the “preservation of agency status and prohibition of advertisement contracts.”
This injunction was filed to affirm ADOR’s status as the management agency under the exclusive contract until the first-instance ruling on the “lawsuit to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract,” which ADOR filed with the Seoul Central District Court on December 3, 2024. The injunction also aims to prevent the NewJeans members from independently engaging in advertisement contracts or activities without ADOR’s approval or consent.
ADOR decided to file this injunction as the NewJeans members, who unilaterally declared the termination of their exclusive contract, continued attempts to independently contact advertisers and enter into contracts. This decision was made to prevent confusion and damage to third parties, including advertisers.
The claim that the members' unilateral termination of the exclusive contract is unjust will be confirmed through the “lawsuit to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract” that ADOR has already filed. However, as the final ruling may take a significant amount of time, this injunction was filed additionally to urgently address the current confusion.
This injunction reflects ADOR’s intent to continue its partnership with the members of NewJeans. If the independent actions of the members continue to create confusion in the market and industry, it will inevitably lead to a decline in the brand value of NewJeans, ADOR’s sole artist. This could result in ADOR losing its competitiveness as a management agency and facing a management crisis. ADOR also considered the possibility that, even if a final ruling confirming the validity of the exclusive contract is issued years later, it might already be impossible to restore the situation to its original state.
Through the injunction application, ADOR appealed to the court, stating, “For the sake of NewJeans, a system must be established to correct any wrongful decisions or actions before the scope of legal liability spirals out of control.” ADOR also shared concerns on behalf of the entertainment industry, stating, “If unilateral terminations of exclusive contracts and independent entertainment activities without legal procedures are allowed to set a precedent, it will deter investment in the entertainment industry, destabilizing and significantly shrinking the foundation of the K-pop industry.”
Meanwhile, ADOR has maintained its support for all resources and facilities necessary for NewJeans’ entertainment activities, based on its stance that the exclusive contract remains valid, and plans to continue doing so in the future. ADOR has also revealed that it has been receiving proposals for various projects, including advertisements and events, while internally completing plans for this year’s activities, such as a regular album release and fan meetings. ADOR expressed its hope to communicate sufficiently with the NewJeans members moving forward.

I don’t see how this can end well for them, unless they have a magic rabbit they can pull out of a magic hat. The only way out I can see for them right now is they either eat humble pie, make their apologies and return to ador, or, an investor or sthg appears that will buy out their contracts and fund a new company for them. Mama roach seems such a toxic person to me, I’m sorry they’ve been influenced by her, but I’ve lost patience and compassion for the NJ girls at this point. I think they’re just acting like brats now.

Also the one directly after all of bts was serving that shit was gonna hit the fan and sure enough there was a huge increase in HYBE taking down fan content and physical art installations. Bts would not have approved of this. As soon as everyone was gone boom, hybe did exactly what I predicted with mhj directly after. I literally said "mark my words". I got so much negative responses to those comments, yet I was right on the money. Like ppl were actively hating on me for my predictions. "Telling the future" is nothing so mystical as fortune telling so much as recognizing patterns in events, etc. Patterns are almost always repeated hence the word "patterns". Whether short term or things seen in the history of man. Once you start recognizing patterns, you can easily forsee consequences from when that first domino falls. My husband always got upset about me "always being right". Nah, thats not how this works I pointed out. Hed be frustrated then asked me to demonstrate... and I couldn't, lol. How do you explain smaller patterns combined with larger patterns? I couldn't, because he couldn't visualize it. But I added its also just a feeling you can't put your finger on. Like statistics but way less math, lol. I always say its not that I'm 90% right or that I'm 90% wrong but somehow I almost always hit that 10%. Its a feeling I get from recognizing patterns. To this day it pisses him off, LOL. He thought I was showing off and somehow it made him feel inferior. For me it was just outcomes. Curious, do you recognize patterns of events large or small and can you predict outcomes with pretty good accuracy? I always told ppl its very much like mother's intuition. So maybe women get this more than men?

2025-01-13 15:45:37 +0000 UTCIt makes sense to ask for a quick ruling about NJ needing to stick to Ador and third-parties being informed in no uncertain terms that any dealings done circumventing the agency are, de facto, illegal while the legal dispute is unresolved. Very smart move. NJ's playing ground would be effectively shrunk to Ador or nothing.

But the show they did on Christmas was not part of the Ador schedule and again they didn't use the New Jeans name continuing to try to "prove" they are no longer part of Ador, but as a "F-you" one of the members wore a Mama Roach t-shirt. I'm sure their appearance on this TV program normally would have garnered appearance fees, so they have officially now performed an appearance that was not done with the assistance of the label & either didn't get paid for it or did get paid directly which would mean breach.

I don’t understand why it takes the SK courts so long to (years) to hear a case.if this injunction is approved. new Jeans is officially over unless they go back to work with Ador. What a way to bite the hand that feeds you.
