The black girl who moved to Mrs.Gruwell class I felt her because I took IB history 9 10 and 11 grade and all 3 years I was the only black student I didn’t get the racist questions from the teacher but anyway, I feel like they don’t push black students to be in higher classes like at all like they think of us is low and dumb

She exaggerated their living conditions & struggles and wrote a book making herself out to be their savior. There were interviews and news articles about that. Also there are plenty of Black and Latino teachers who did great things for students but they don’t make movies about them. There is a pattern of white savior movies like this. If you don’t know who Barbara Sizemore, Mary McLeod Bethune Fanny Jackson Coppin, Marva Collins, or Septima Poinsette Clark are or seen a movie about what they did then you should ask yourself why you’re seeing a movie about this lady.

2025-01-27 05:32:33 +0000 UTCyeah its similar. idk how to explain it into words. but what i can tell you though is, both movies do teach diversity and equality and bringing people from everywhere to be together. its something ive always believed in. my family's from all the way back in time always believed in equality. ive had teachers like these. teachers helped me understand more on other prospectives.
