So sweet and funny but heartwarming. Love watching along with you. It's like watching with a friend. Except my friends would kill me for talking through films like I talk back to you.

2024-07-12 02:07:35 +0000 UTCI love about Gru as a character that he is a really good depiction of several things: the unplanned chaos of parenting, how much of adulting is just making it up as you go along and sometimes you win and sometimes not, how showing up is enough, and how attachment wounds can lead to a variety of ways of seeking to meet our needs that are ultimately unhelpful...or even harmful...but they dont have to define us forever. We can learn to form healthy relationships and create safe space. Very cute and fun, chaotic, fantastical, and yet very real story and character.

2024-07-11 07:31:33 +0000 UTCAh the first Despicable me is a surprisingly good film, the mean spirited nature of Gru contrasted with the wholesome energy at times and the supervillain setting all works together excellently. Not among the great animated films but a solid one. Not fond of the sequels i think they dilute this formular too much.

I've always liked these movies, I think the second one is even better, and the third is still pretty good. I can take or leave Minions, and haven't seen Rise of Gru so I can't say for sure there, but the other DM movies are worth a watch.

It's the one with the most heart, but again the others were very fun. I'd love to see your reaction to them. I'd also love to see your reaction to Megamind.
