Sketch: Thunder

"Don't be scared, it can't hurt you through the window anyway." The cat placed a paw on the pup's shielded head. "Besides, I'm here!"

Vin shuddered, vanishing deeper into his blanket cocoon as the next crack of lightning exploded through the sky. "Yeah, but don't YOU get scared?"

"Only of SOME stuff," Muenster admitted.

"Like what stuff?"

"I think planes are scary."

"Yeah, but doesn't your dad live in Germany?" The pup relaxed very slightly, hearing his friend's reassuring purrs in a lull between the thunder.

"That's what mom said."

Another shock of lightning sent the pup again into fits of whining. Muenster winced, as much from seeing fear flare up again in their friend as from the thunder. "I said I'm here. If the lightnings come near you I'll punch them."

A response came from the shadowy ball of blankets, with a slight smile. "Would you fly on a plane if I was there?" Then, more tentatively, "Th-then we could go so you could meet your dad."

"Yeah ... ok." An equally tentative reply, then more determined. "If you fly me, then I'll go. But you can't fly if you're scared of weather!"

"Planes don't fly in lightning!"

"Shuttup pup. I said fine! But you gotta not be scared, OK?"

"OK," Vin agreed.

"Also, take that blanket off your head." The pup shakily obeyed. The orange cat lent over and hugged him at once, holding tight as another outburst of thunder rumbled across the sky.

Vin shuddered, but this time much less, letting the rumbling purr of his friend drown out those from the sky.
