The Incubus System Chapter 1070. New Skills Unlocked!
My eyes scanned for anything new. And there it was—a new skill shining in my list like a treasure chest waiting to be looted.
[Radiant Slash: Infuse your weapon with holy light, delivering a fast, glowing slash that burns foes with searing radiance. Deals light damage and leaves a minor damage-over-time (DoT) effect. Cooldown: 5 seconds.]
My eyes widened as I read the description. A grin tugged at the corners of my mouth, and before I knew it, I was sitting up, excitement buzzing through me like static. ‘I actually got new skills!’ Sure, it wasn’t anything crazy OP, but still—holy skills? That was a game-changer.
“This is so cool,” I muttered, scrolling back up and then down again, double-checking just to make sure I wasn’t imagining things. I’d never had access to holy skills before. This meant that my transformation wasn’t just cosmetic—it came with serious upgrades.
Out of pure habit, I accessed my skill tree to see what else might have unlocked. My jaw practically dropped as I stared at it. The tree had expanded, branching out into new sections filled with abilities I hadn’t even dreamed of having. High-tier skills, AoE attacks, and even some passives that could make my holy skills synergize with my demonic ones.
“No kidding…” I murmured, a grin stretching across my face. “AoE skills? High-tier holy moves? This is insane!” My mind immediately went to Mrs. Clea and Nathan. Both of them were holy powerhouses, and now it looked like I could finally play in their league.
But my grin faded as a new thought crept in, tugging at the edge of my excitement. “Wait… I’m a Nephilim, right?” I frowned, scrolling through the tree again, scanning the descriptions. “Shouldn’t I have skills that mix both holy and dark powers?”
It was a logical assumption. I mean, my whole shtick was being a hybrid, so where were the hybrid skills? Holy energy and demonic energy weren’t supposed to coexist, but if my body could pull it off, surely there had to be some kind of skill set for it, right?
The more I thought about it, the more frustrated I got. “But what would that even look like?” I muttered to myself, leaning back against the bedframe. Holy light and dark energy combined? I couldn’t even imagine it. My memories of Erebus didn’t help much either. He had a holy sword, sure, but that was more about purging darkness than blending it.
I sighed, running a hand through my hair. “Whatever. Maybe it’s locked behind a higher level or a hidden requirement,” I muttered. “I’ll figure it out later.”
Pushing the thought aside, I turned my attention back to my skill list. If I couldn’t mess with hybrid skills yet, I could at least power up what I had. My gaze locked on Radiant Slash, and I didn’t hesitate.
“Increase Radiant Slash to level 5.”
[Radiant Slash Lv. 5: Damage increased by 150%. DoT duration extended to 7 seconds. Slashes now emit a blinding light, reducing enemy accuracy by 30%. Cooldown: 4 seconds.]
I whistled, impressed. “Now that’s more like it.”
Another notification popped up.
[You got two new skills!]
[Smite Bolt: Launch a small, concentrated bolt of holy energy at a single target, dealing precise damage. Explodes on impact, causing splash damage to enemies in a small radius. Cooldown: 8 seconds.]
[Seraphic Chainstrike: Fire a holy chain at your target. If the target is hit, the chain leaps to nearby enemies, dealing diminishing damage to up to 4 foes. Cooldown: 12 seconds.]
I stared at the descriptions for a moment, my grin coming back full force. “Holy AoE and a chain attack? Hell yes.” Without wasting any time, I maxed them out.
“Increase Smite Bolt and Seraphic Chainstrike to max level.”
[Smite Bolt Lv. 5: Damage increased by 200%. Splash damage radius expanded by 50%. Cooldown: 6 seconds.]
[Seraphic Chainstrike Lv. 5: Damage increased by 150%. Chain now leaps to 6 enemies. Chains apply a 10% slow effect for 5 seconds. Cooldown: 8 seconds.]
I let out a low whistle, sitting back against the bedframe as I processed the upgrades. “These are gonna wreck.” Just imagining the combos I could pull off with these skills was enough to get my blood pumping. Holy chains bouncing between enemies while I carved through them with Radiant Slash? Smite Bolts exploding in the middle of a mob? Yeah, I was gonna have fun with this.
“Looks like this Nephilim thing is a huge upgrade after all,” I said with a smirk.
[You got a new skill!]
[Blessed Comet: Summon a glowing holy comet from the heavens, smashing into your target for high single-target damage and minor splash damage in a small radius. Cooldown: 18 seconds.]
I blinked at the screen, my lips curling into a grin. ‘A holy comet?’ That sounded as flashy as it was powerful. Without hesitation, I leaned forward, eager to crank it up. “Increase Blessed Comet to max level.”
[Blessed Comet Lv. 5: Damage increased by 250%. Splash radius expanded to medium. Comet impact applies a 5-second burn effect, dealing additional holy damage over time. Cooldown: 12 seconds.]
As much as I wanted to keep exploring my skill tree and unlocking more upgrades, I knew I had to pump the brakes. My level wasn’t high enough to access everything yet, and I wasn’t about to waste my precious energy trying to rush it. ‘Patience, Ethan,’ I told myself, even though I hated waiting for anything.
“I hope I can get more expansions later,” I muttered under my breath, already imagining how broken my build would be once I unlocked all the high-tier skills. But for now, this was enough. I couldn’t help but chuckle, thinking about what humans would say if they ever found out a “great demon” was out here flinging holy comets and chains like some divine warrior. The irony was almost too good.
I stretched, feeling the tension in my muscles from last night’s… activities. “Right,” I said aloud. “Bath first, then food.”
