Mythic Magazine #13

Greetings everyone! Welcome to lucky issue number 13, the first of Mythic Magazine's second year!

This issue gives us Adapting Mythic's Ranks Rules, an article bridging the gap between Mythic Role-Playing's Resisted Ranks mechanics and the Fate Check in Mythic Variations 2 and the Mythic Deck. If you play with Mythic's Rank system, this article will open up more options for you.

This issue also contains Creature Crafter Simplified, a new version of The Creature Crafter with reduced crunch and more direct compatibility with Mythic. Making monsters as you go has never been easier.

I'd also like to note that Jorge made the cover of this issue to be his redo version of the original Creature Crafter cover, and I absolutely love it!

Happy New Year everyone! Let's make 2022 a monstrously good one :)

That's a clever use of the CC I hadn't thought of. I love monster manuals as well, and I know what you mean by how they can accumulate to the point where they are too overwhelming to use. I want to try out your approach of having the CC guide me by pointing me toward a monster.

A spin on the use of the creature crafter article. I have been playing D&D for about 35 years now. Thus I have monster manuals. In fact I have too many! But I find that a few rolls from creature craft (visa via this article) and I am able to get inspired on what to pull from the stacks. Thus I am using a lot of resources that had been collecting dust. It is also fun to end an adventure with something unique, at which time I just use this system as written.

Hi John. The Patreon keeps links for the magazines active for the past 3 issues at a time, so issues prior to that drop off. Issues #14-16 are currently active.

For whatever reason I do not see the link to #13. Am I missing something?

Thank you so much, Deathworks! I'm glad you like the changes to the Creature Crafter, and I agree with everything you said :)

Hello! It seems as if Patreon has eaten my comment (^_^;; I wanted to congratulate you on this great issue which makes a really great start into the new year. You have made this Mythic fan really happy. While I still think that the Fate Chart is way cooler than the Fate Check (I don't know, maybe it is just the aesthetics of that big chart), being able to use the cards for the RPG and salvage stuff from Variations II more easily is already great in itself. And I am really happy about the new version of the Creature Crafter. While I always tell people that they absolutely must buy the Adventure Crafter as it is the best tool for solo roleplaying, I wasn't able to recommend the Creature Crafter as I found its stat generation to be too swingy. I really liked the tables for the descriptions and stuff, but that final part didn't work for me. This new version seems to fix that problem I have had and offers an inspirational approach for the descriptions/details, which is also something I greatly enjoy, so I really like this new version. Please keep up the good work! Yours, Deathworks

Awesome, I'm glad you like it :)

I LOVE the article on using Mythic Ranks! I've been using the GME Deck on a sci-fi campaign and I have to say it's the cat's meow and I don't ever want to use a different Oracle. And now the Ranking article has provided an amazing diceless way to determine skill rolls! I just need to do some backend conversion between Mythic's Ranks and the sci-fi's skill levels and I'm in business! Thank you!
