Mythic Magazine #10

Greetings everyone! I present to you Mythic Magazine #10, the Scene issue!

The first article in this issue deals with a discussion about when to start, and end, Scenes. I'm hoping this offers some fresh perspectives on what constitutes a "Scene," and you might find some solutions to a few Scene problems.

The second article introduces a new type of Scene, Keyed Scenes. This is another way to add custom content to your Adventures while allowing it to meld organically with Mythic's usual approach.

Happy adventuring!

Hi Ovy. The issues available on the Patreon are always the current last 3, so issue #10 dropped off when issue #13 came on.

Sorry for not seeing, is there a link to this issue?

Thanks for the comment, Deathworks, and I agree ... I wish I had put a Big Example in this issue. I really enjoy making them. Unfortunately, it became a casualty of time constraints. Usually that's not a problem for me. I've been producing monthly magazines for 28 years, so I'm very accustomed to the production demands required for a monthly publication. September turned out to be a challenging month for me, however. You know, now that I'm talking about this, it's making me want to write a Big Example lol I might include this as a content idea for a future poll and make an article that is a collection of Big Examples for various aspects of Mythic. I wonder if that would go over well.

Hello! Interesting content as always. Truth be told, scenes have always been bugging me, although I had no trouble using them, because I learned RPGs with AD&D 2nd and the Dark Eye, and neither of them had scenes. There are just two gripes with this issue. The first and really big gripe is that there is no big, juicy example! I really love reading them. Besides showing the things explained in action, they are a great read, especially at times where I can't sit down to play (which happens far too often lately). Secondly, a minor gripe or disagreement. It was really something minor and I can't currently find it. I think something was a bit too vague in the scene modal article, but I can't find it now. Nothing important, you see (^_^;; Anyhow, I really like your suggestions for narrative vs. simulationist (I am a simulationist who wants to be surprised by the narration), and keyed scenes are something I may try out in the future. So, I sincerely hope that the one big gripe I had will be dealt with in future issues :) :) :) :) Yours, Deathworks

Thank you Michael, I'm glad you like them :) And that's not a bad idea!

So much great stuff in these magazines and the other Word Mill Games, I may soon need a flowchart to lead me to the right tool that I should use, lest I forget. :)
