The Festival of Lights spans the darkest week of the year in which nights outlast the day. For those like the Creatiks who worship the Goddess of Day and thrive under the heat of the sun, this is one of the hardest weeks. However, for those like the Acaynmans who are, as a whole, known to be a nocturnal people, it is a time to celebrate not only the longer waking hours of their days but also their many innovative lighting techniques and practices. There's a long and rich history of lantern crafting and an even longer one of producing art with light. All of this is culminated in the Festival of Lights. A favored aspect is in the use of bioluminescent paints that glow brightly when put in contact with magic. Traditionally the paint is used to decorate buildings and art pieces, but in more recent times has also been applied to the face and body to create mesmerizing lighting effects in performances as well as intriguing fashion statements. The royal family has been one of the loudest supporters of the trend. It isn't uncommon to see Airymaya with traditional patterns on his face and arms.

This week is in fact Airymaya's favorite. He loves the way his people gather together, buzzing with new ideas for the coming festival, creating newer and grander light instillations for all to enjoy. He loves too another aspect he hadn't fully considered before he and Dax became lovers. The soft light of the paints is mesmerizing on its own, but there's something viscerally satisfying to him seeing trails of it wherever he has touched Dax and where Dax has touched him. The light against an unlit room is impossible for him to look away from. The way it matches the constant, soft glow from Dax's eyes. The fact that it is the one thing he knowns for certain the both of them see the same way. These all make the experience that much more meaningful. It doesn't hurt that it's a great deal of fun to use as well.
