(Colors not final)
The difficult thing about creating a character who, canonically cannot speak, and having them travel alone is you cut yourself off from plenty of potential banter.
Arduiel solves those problems swiftly. An ancient robot known as a navigator, Arduiel takes immense pride in his origins, but is greatly distressed to learn he has lost access to most of the knowledge he once utilized. This isn't to say he has lost his memory, so to speak. In his own words:
Pah! Amnesia?! I was born from an assembly line reserved for the very best of navigators, a dispensary of information, a paragon of guidance, and you insist I am even capable of forgetting? What nerve! I am fully capable of retaining any information I desire! I was BUILT for such feats! Which...erm... is the exact reason for my predicament. You see, thanks to the Weave, I could simply tap into our great kingdom's archives when and where ever I pleased. As grand as my memory is, scarce was the need to actually use it. And now, suddenly, such a simple task as connecting with it escapes me.
Could it have gone offline? No, that's preposterous. A new passw..
N-never you mind that! It seems our destination is the same. I will... *ahem*... allow you to accompany me. I predict your brutish methods will be of some use to me.
Arduiel reluctantly joins Puro in his journey to regain access to the Weave, seeing mutual benefit in her pragmatism and his ability to partially decipher her garbled speech — though not without error, leading to some awkward exchanged with other NPCs.
I'll be posting more about his role in the story and the process that lead to his design as a later date. The first ideas I had for his appearance were... different. Very, very different.
