Kiri La Kill - Chapter 25

Rejoice! We are officially at the half-way point of this story, another 25 chapters to go until we are finished with the story. Furthermore, we introduce the protagonist of the story, none other than Matoi Ryuko herself!

Except the plot pick up significantly from this point onward, the plan is to wrap up the canon story and have a healthy space at the last 10 chapters dedicated just for relationship shenanigans with the two girls.

There should be another omake waiting on the wings today, so stay tuned for that as well. Enjoy today’s chapter!

Honno City was… different than what Ryuko had envisioned it to be.

She’d obviously never been there, despite living close to it as she had been, but that hadn’t stopped her from hearing things. Rumors from the down low that living in the shadow of the greatest school in the planet was not all that was cracked up to be, go fucking figure.

Her… old man had practically forbidden her from setting foot in the city to confirm it herself, and probably for good reasons, considering what had happened to him, but Ryuko didn’t care all that much what those reasons were at the moment.

She knew that those reasons had gotten her dad killed, she was going to get her answers as to why, and take her fucking revenge on the ones who did this… whatever it took.

Her hands clenched around the briefcase that held her only lead, and her only weapon.

A litany of curses flew through her mouth, as she lamented the fact that she hadn’t considered getting a good look at this place, even during the worst parts of her rebellious phase… Because at least she might have had an image to compare against what she was seeing right now!

She’d expected slums, she hadn’t expected empty, deserted, creepy slums that had begun to collapse with the absence of people.

“What the hell?” She muttered under her breath, as she trekked through the wasteland… chewing on the lemon that she’d been snacking on, with her other hand tucked firmly within the pocket of her jacket.

She was confident, of course… partly a result of her arrogance, partly a result of her ignorance. She’d torn through quite a few of Honnouji’s subordinate schools in order to gather all of the information that she’d needed and to get herself ‘transferred’ there, only time would tell if those two qualities would be coming back to bite her.

Currently, it didn’t seem that way.

“Guess I’m gonna have to find out what happened here too.” The tomboyish girl spoke over the eerie silence as she raised her gaze a little, to look at the school that sprawled mightly over the horizon. “Damn… what a pain.”

It was safe to say that Ryuko didn’t really know the scale of what she was getting herself involved with. This whole mission of hers having been something she’d been pushed into and accepted very suddenly, with her father springing this on her out of the blue, and then dying before he could even tell her what it was about.

Her first assumption had been a conspiracy, but she hadn’t know the scale of it at all. She didn’t know what her father or what he’d worked on, she didn’t know who’d killed him or why, and her only clue was this crummy place.

And now that she’d seen an entire settlement wiped away like it was nothing?

Well, safe to say that Ryuko was starting to connect some dots, and she didn’t like the conclusion that this was leading her on.

Ryuko wasn’t expecting to find someone in this desolation.

Which was why it was so surprising that she did in the weirdest way possible.

As in, a girl that looked about her age, (unsurprising considering the school uniform) suddenly appeared before her after turning a corner, took one look at a bewildered Ryuko, let out a rather incomprehensible gaggle of words, before turning around and booking it.

She hadn’t gotten far before Ryuko had chased her down and tackled her to the ground, planting her butt on the girl’s back to ensure that she couldn’t escape as she waited for her to calm down..

“Nooooo! I got caught by another outsider!” The girl had cried, and a flustered Ryuko had to spend a lot of time calming her down, aided by the fact that she had a small piece of the lemon she’d been eating to aid her in the effort… after that, telling the girl that she didn’t intend to harm her had been actually rather quick.

Mankanshoku Mako was the girl’s name, a ‘No-Star’ student of Honnouji that had been a resident of the slums until very recently… and she was all too eager to fill Ryuko in--- on the matters of what happened to the slums of Honno City, that is.

Having not been keeping abreast of mainstream events due to her unrelenting search, Ryuko could only blink rapidly at the mention of the ‘Rampage’, and the fact that it had somehow led to Kiryuin Satsuki clearing out the slums.

The biggest shock of it all however, was how Mako had ended her (strangely detailed) account of the Honnouji Rampage.

“And that’s how Lady Satsuki stole my fiance!”

“W-wha?!” Ryuko gasped, looking at the girl before her in a whole new light. “You have a fiance?!”

“Well, it was all actually rather sudden. He suddenly came over and started wrecking everything as he went after the school, and he almost beat me up too, before I managed to convince him to spare me, so then he went and fought one of the Elite Four who threatened to execute me but he said he’d take responsibility and fought but Kiryuin Satsuki stopped the fight and slashed him with her sword.”

“Don’t worry Mako.” Ryuko said with a nod, placing a hand on Mako’s shoulder while having understood none of that unintelligible word soup besides the word ‘sword’, which very much interested her.. “I’ll get your fiance back.”

And so, the seed of a tree of misunderstanding had been planted on the soil of Honnouji, and the result would no doubt be hilarious. In other news, Kirishima Eijiro received a sudden shudder that made him feel like someone had just walked over his grave.

“Now. Tell me everything again, and this time go slower! I’ll need the details.”

Now that she had a lead, Ryuko was actually feeling rather good about herself.

Comments

Huh..50 chapters seems rather short, and needing to end everything up in 15 relatively short chapters... but damn, Mako is weird. So is the pairing Kiri/Satsuki/Ryuko/Mako then, I wonder? Poor Mako/Gamagoori. XD
