News & Proteus Outpost: Next Map

Hi everyone,

I've been working on the background and some NPCs for the Colony Outpost Theme. This is a company-owned colony compound on Nereus, a large moon orbiting a gas giant. 

The Proteus outpost setting draws inspiration from Aliens, Avatar, The Expanse, and Halo. I wanted to make a colonized world with indigenous life instead of barren rock, like LV-426 in Alien and Aliens. Because of this, the main interest in colonization is not terraforming but resource extraction. The planet is the only known source of an extremely valuable substance called ambrosite.

Additionally, the planet is one of the abandoned Malakim worlds, and several sites with ancient ruins of this mysteriously vanished alien culture have been found around the moon.

More details of the outpost are coming later this month.

What parts of the outpost we should explore? 

Last month we did the infested reactor, and now we are working on an ops center. There's also coming an area map of the outpost compound. 

Which other parts of the station we should work on in this pack?

PS. The Foundry module update is seriously delayed, but finally coming next week, bringing modules up to date with all the pending maps. Some new asset packs and Dungeondraft updates are also coming next week. Apologies for the delay!

I'm still considering how to work with the theme packs. I'd prefer that the packs would cover more locations and possible scenarios than be tightly framed as monthly themes, for example. But I think that after a few of these packs, things start to settle down.

I love this idea! The easy answer is, of course, “all of the above”! But I know you only have so much time in the day. I cast my vote and look forward to seeing what come out!

The plan is to make some of the maps modular and to match with the building assets. In other words, so maps would represent the whole building (e.g. warehouse or barracks) while some are parts of larger complexes (ops, medical, brig, offices, for example). And the style would be closer to "realistic" sci-fi.

I'm imagining the Research Outpost you made a little while back. But having a full sized Barracks and Refinery would be interesting. I think most of the Cantinas, Offices, and Landing Pads we have are very Star Wars themed. A fresh Warehouse would be very interesting to see. I'm also a fan of a new garage. The Garage, Cantina, Brid and Offices all seem like they would be quite small in size, yes?
