Hey everyone, QuiteTheSlacker here! This is a bit different to what I usually post; however, I think it's important to talk about and spread the word.
Amazon Audible is planning to release a new royalty model for how it pays authors of audiobooks. It's a bit complicated in how it works that I won't delve too deeply into, but basically what it implies is that authors will receive less earnings from someone purchasing their book through Amazon's credit system. It will essentially take a large chunk of an author's income and put it directly into Amazon's hands.
Now, Mr. Rose doesn't have an audiobook yet, and likely not for a while, but it's important to me that authors who have spent the time, effort, and money in making audiobooks receive the due compensation they fairly deserve. If you can, please sign this petition here https://chng.it/ZqfsGKScgY or through the embedded image up top.
You don't have to donate money or anything, but it will ask for some personal information like name and email. Please do not sign if you're uncomfortable with that—privacy is also important. You could also make up a fake name or whatever too, I don't judge. More information about the policy and what it does will be inside the link as well.
If you can't for any reason, that's perfectly fine. I don't want to force anyone into doing anything they aren't comfortable with. The Distinguished Mr. Rose will continue uploading as it always has regardless. As an author myself, though, being in the writing community means a lot to me, and I want to support other writers especially when they're smaller like me.
