Rise of the Planet of the Apes | Full Length Reaction
Added 2024-03-15 22:34:56 +0000 UTCHey guys! Happy Friday! Today we do the poll winner Planet of the apes! Wow, this was a very great movie! They seemed to pack a lot in a short amount of time! I loved it! I can't wait to watch the next ones!

It's a fun movie. There are a lot of suspension of disbelief issues where you just have to say, "Hey, it's a movie. Let's just enjoy it," and go from there, though. Like, that is NOT AT ALL how testing approval from animals to human trials happens. Ever. There are very heavily regulated protocols about efficacy and toxicity (among others, but those are top-tier) that have to be demonstrated in multiple studies over time before the FDA (Not your lab partner/boss/board) allows human trials in any form. But, that makes for a really boring movie so no one ever includes it. Sadly, many people use the movies for "how science works." That Caesar learned to speak by getting smarter is another one. Non-human apes can't talk because of the physical configuration of their vocal cords, tongue, and throat, not just because they aren't smart enough. They vocalize and communicate with one another just fine. Human speech just isn't something they are physically capable of doing. But again, it's a movie and it's a lot more fun to say "Smarter chimp equals talking chimp" because we're human and we think smart looks like us. Plus, who would want to have to learn an entire communication style just to watch a movie? At one point you asked "Where did they get weapons?" Well, just a scene or two before that, the troop smashed the primate enclosure fencing at the zoo to release the apes there and a quick shot showed some of them removing the wrought iron poles with decorative spear-tops that they then used as actual spears. I really loved hearing that you studied chimpanzee behavior in your anthropology classes. The differences in chimpanzee, bonobo, and human societies is fascinating and I agree that this film gave a little look into those differences, even if it was a little watered down for entertainment (as it should be).

2024-05-04 03:13:36 +0000 UTCYou've got to keep watching these movies. The next one is one of the best action movies in recent years, and in my opinion, Caesar only continues to get more interesting as a movie hero.

2024-04-03 23:50:44 +0000 UTCFirst, Caesar didn't murder anyone. Caesar wanted to pay back Tom Felton by spraying him with water. He didn't know electricity and water is a deadly combination. Also, the Director, Rupert Wyatt confirmed that Caesar didn't kill anyone in the movie.

2024-03-29 06:37:32 +0000 UTCI never thought of Caesar as a villain, he squirted "Draco" with water to put him in his place against the wall as was done to him, and from the look on Caesar's face, I don't think he understood until that moment that water + electricity is a deadly thing. He wasn't murdered, "Draco" was just dumb. Accidental Manslaughter.

2024-03-17 06:48:32 +0000 UTCThe originals took place in the future when a spaceship launched from Earth landed on the Planet of the Apes. This movie set that up for a possible story line in sequels somewhere down the road if you noticed the couple of scenes that mentioned a space launch and the headline about "lost in space?"

2024-03-17 06:08:36 +0000 UTCHey V! great reaction; I cant wait to see the other movies in the trilogy. The weapons that the chimps had were from the fence from the zoo where they rescued the other chimps.

2024-03-17 01:30:03 +0000 UTCIt's not too much in the first movie but if you get a chance I highly suggest you go rewatch the conversations between Maurice and Cesar in the primate shelter

2024-03-16 09:52:12 +0000 UTCGreat reaction! Please make sure that your copies for the next 2 movies have subtitles for when the apes are using sign language. There is a lot of dialogue you'll miss if they aren't there.

2024-03-16 08:36:01 +0000 UTCThis movie's nothing like the original. But there's a few homages to the original here and there. And it doesn't really matter which one you watch first. Two different stories. I really like the way they did it in this movie. It feels like something that could really happen. Especially after we've just seen a virus move all over the globe.

2024-03-16 03:56:04 +0000 UTCYo Vee! The coolest things about these new Planet of the Apes films is every "main" ape you'll see through the movies are live acted performances by people doing MoCap, doing the lines and the physical acting scenes then they just pull over a CGI ape look. Most notably by the studio Andy Serkis founded called "Imaginarium Studios" after his role as Gollum from Lord of the Rings. They are physically playing these roles much like how Andy did with Gollum. So yeah a bunch of actors including Andy Serkis, acting like apes, making the sounds, the movements, the gestures. xD
