I really enjoyed experiencing everyone getting pelted with dodgeballs and Ben Stiller to play another ridiculous character - its like in his blood its amazing. I LOOOOVED it and NEED MORE COMEDY LIKE THIS (also seeing Alan Tudyk playing a pirate for literally no reason the entire movie was comedy gold and worth watching just for that alone) I hope you guys enjoy!! A lot of comedies in the 90's were made by the loosely named "Frat Pack'; original members being Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Luke Wilson, Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Jack Black, Paul Rudd, and Vince Vaughn. Additionally, many cross-over to the unoffical group Team Apatow; repeat comedic actors that star in Judd Apatow films; Seth Rogen, Danny McBride, Jay Baruchel, Paul Rudd, Michael Cera, Jason Segel, Jonah Hill, James Franco, Craig Robinson, Joe Lo Truglio, Martin Starr, Bill Hader, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, David Krumholtz, and Evan Goldberg. With some sideline actors such as David Koechner and Justin Long. This group of comedians can also be described as dad comics. So the reason much of the comedy seems...wholesome or less aggressive is because this is majority of the group of comedians and directors that got a lot of popularity at the time. Usually, hollywood pumps a lot of money into films showcasing a handful of actors and they go on to bigger careers. Kind of how it works. A rising actor 'plays ball' with the studio, and then the studios milk their talent. If the public loves it, they get more work (why you see some actors get multiple films in one year). Just how it worked out. What is showcased in media over the decades is a combined agreement between what the studios offer up and what the public endorses with their money. These films just so happen to have good funding and advertising, plus the public loved paying to see them. Passive aggressive villains and cool dad comedy, that's what the 90's wanted to see, i guess, lol.
