Chapter 498: Speculation

Transformers Begin : Table of Content/Chapter List

As Sun Cheng's gaze passed over the eight new combat robots standing quietly inside the cargo container, he let out a slow breath of relief.

He stepped forward quickly, retrieved a metal box slightly smaller than a common laptop computer that was fastened to the container's side wall, and entered a complex 32-digit password proficiently. The box opened swiftly, revealing a palm-sized chip.

"Revenge, extract the information from this chip. According to the information, debug these robots."

This chip was manufactured by Sun Cheng using Frenzy's mechanical body during his time in the "Transformers Universe." It stored control programs he had personally designed.

As war machines, these new combat robots needed to be awakened before use.

However, Sun Cheng preferred to call this process "debugging"!

Awakening combat robots involved inputting tasks, safety limitations, and other control programs designed for them into the chips of these war machines.

This process was crucial; combat robots without restrictions could be extremely dangerous.

The concept was proposed by Sun Cheng and ultimately realized by the hands of Decepticon engineers like Atlas. The creation of these combat robots was meant to compensate for the deficiency of his Decepticon soldiers. No matter how exquisite their designs were, they couldn't change the fact that they were created as a relatively low-cost cannon fodder to be mass-produced on the battlefield.

Hence, even the latest combat robots had inferior processing cores that weren't capable of handling complex transformations.

Without proper training, they would treat all moving targets within their field of view as invaders and launch attacks.

Revenge nodded somewhat stiffly. Decepticons, compared to Autobots, inherently lacked some rationality. Perhaps their creators had invested more effort in enhancing their combat capabilities when designing these unique lifeforms.

Consequently, many Decepticons were naturally battle-crazed.

As a newly born micro Decepticon, Revenge had been chosen by Sun Cheng to be brought back to the real world shortly after its birth. Its character hadn't yet solidified, its memory data had been wiped, and Sun Cheng had left various control methods in its mind. It had always been under strict control, with insufficient accumulation of information to form a new personality.

Therefore, it currently appeared more like a stiff robot than a newly born intelligent life form.

For Sun Cheng at this moment, this was undoubtedly preferable.

In reality, he didn't possess the strength or influence to enlist the Decepticons as his own, let alone plotting against Decepticon leaders like Starscream as he had done in the "Transformers Universe."

Thus, a tool lacking abilities but obedient and durable was far more useful than a Decepticon with abilities but constantly plotting betrayal and master assassination.

After receiving orders, Revenge read the information from the chip and began to debug the new combat robots inside the cargo container.

Sun Cheng silently watched on the side. He had lost his  mechanical body in the real world and had very limited abilities.

However, during this time, he began to contemplate the crisis he had felt earlier.

"... Did I overlook something...? Why did I suddenly have this sense of danger..."

He had never believed in a sixth sense before!

However, with his accumulating knowledge, Sun Cheng was less certain now.

From a scientific perspective, the concept of a sixth sense was explainable.

It could be understood as a form of danger perception. Scientists had conducted experiments on various animals and insects with danger perception, discovering that they possessed highly developed senses like super smell, hearing, or vision. These senses allowed them to sense the presence of predators several seconds or even longer before they attacked, giving them enough time to escape.

Sun Cheng had average physical qualities. Even though he had recently started to exercise his body, he was still a human made of flesh and blood, even if he trained to the level of a professional athlete. He wouldn't possess super senses like enhanced smell, hearing, or vision.

So, his only feeling about this sudden sense of danger was that he must have overlooked something.

And the overlooked thing was definitely something he had personally witnessed and recorded in his brain.

"Could it be the suspicious individuals tracking Ye Qi... or is it something else..."

Humans were creatures like this—sometimes the more you thought about something, the harder it was to focus your mind and get closer to the truth.

Sun Cheng was no exception!

After pondering for a while, it was only when Revenge had finished debugging all the combat robots that he realized he hadn't been able to pinpoint what he had overlooked. Instead, due to the diversion of his thoughts, his mind was filled with countless doubts. He even unexpectedly noticed some overlooked issues with the company.

"It seems like I'll need to be more careful recently!"

He had to refocus his attention. Looking ahead, he saw that Revenge had finished debugging the combat robots and had returned to stand beside him.

Inside the container, the fixtures restraining the eight combat robots had all been retracted. The eyes of the once dim robots were now shining with a brilliant blue light.

The debugging program in these robots' chips had been personally written by Sun Cheng in the "Transformers Universe." So, he gave the order with confidence, "All soldiers of the a2 series, verify my identity!"

"Soldier" was the design designation for all combat robot models. a1 represented the first generation, a2 was the second, and further advanced combat robots would appear as a3, a4, and so on.

When one robot verified Sun Cheng's identity, the information would automatically be shared with all the robots via a local network formed within a certain range.

"Identity confirmed, Your Excellency, the Supreme Commander. Please issue a task."

These robots were initially quiet inside the container, but as soon as one verified Sun Cheng's identity, they all shared the information instantly.

"Standby for alert tasks!"

Satisfied with the deployment of two a2 series combat robots in each Safehouse, Sun Cheng had given these robots a sense of purpose. The underground building was finally starting to take shape.

He didn't linger in the Safehouse for too long, as it was still empty. After placing the eight combat robots in their designated positions for guarding, Sun Cheng left with Revenge. They took the elevator to the garage and returned to the villa.

Feeling quite tired by now, he didn't spend much time in the study. He went to the bathroom to freshen up, and then returned to his bedroom, lying down on the bed.

Just as he was about to drift into sleep, Sun Cheng suddenly opened his eyes wide.

In that very moment, he remembered a place he had forgotten.

"... Could it be the country that's keeping tabs on Ye Qi or even me?"
