F/VoH Ch 142: First Target
Added 2024-12-01 12:54:12 +0000 UTCRyan woke up with a calm face, even though his mind was already spinning with plans for the future. The soft morning light streamed through the bedroom window, highlighting two figures still asleep beside Ryan.
On the right side, Charlotte lay with steady breaths, while on the left, Ellina appeared peaceful, her face turned towards Ryan.
Ryan could only let out a quiet sigh. He had repeatedly asked both women to sleep in their own rooms, but as usual, they had snuck into Ryan's room at night.
Whether it was for reasons of protection, comfort, or habit, Ryan wasn't sure—and he was too tired to debate it.
Carefully, Ryan got out of bed, making sure not to wake them. He stood for a moment, looking at the two women. There was a rare peace on their faces, especially considering all the chaos they had faced together.
Without making much noise, Ryan walked towards the door and exited the room. His steps were light as he descended the stairs to the lower floor, where the aroma of toast and coffee began to fill the air. In the dining room, Rosseline was already seated with her notebook, appearing busy writing something.
"Good morning, Ryan," Rosseline greeted without looking up from her notes.
"Morning," Ryan replied as he pulled out a chair in front of Rosseline and sat down. "Have you been here long?"
Rosseline finally closed her book and looked at Ryan with a slight smile. "Long enough. I couldn't sleep well last night, so I decided to come down early."
They chatted for a while, mostly about small things. Ryan then ordered food for himself and Rosseline. When the food arrived, they both ate together, enjoying the warmth of the morning before the day was filled again with plans and intrigue.
After finishing their meal, Ryan nodded to Rosseline before heading back upstairs. He found Charlotte and Ellina already awake, their faces still a bit sleepy, but they quickly got ready upon seeing Ryan enter.
"You two, come down and eat something," Ryan commanded briefly.
"Yes, Young Master," Ellina replied politely. Charlotte just nodded while yawning slightly, and then the two of them walked out of the room towards the dining area.
As the atmosphere returned to silence, Ryan stood in the middle of the room, his eyes scanning the surroundings thoughtfully. He raised his hand slightly, and in an instant, the world around Ryan changed. The small bedroom was replaced by an expanse of endless white space. Ryan's Reality Marble had activated, transporting him to his personal dimension.
Without hesitation, Ryan walked towards a specific corner. There, a simple mailbox stood amidst a pile of various strange items. The box looked ordinary, but for Ryan, it was one of the entry points to a stream of secret information that could only be accessed from that mailbox.
Calmly, Ryan opened the box. Inside was a letter neatly placed. Ryan took it out, slowly unfolding the paper.
The letter contained information gathered by the Random Mailbox. Often, the letters provided were just meaningless information—small events that had little impact. However, this time there was one report that caught Ryan's attention.
A noble known for his depraved nature had just raped a woman in Crigh Village. The report listed the noble's name, location, and some details of the incident that made Ryan's blood boil for a moment.
"This person can be used as the first target in the plan that has been prepared," Ryan murmured quietly, his cold eyes staring at the letter before folding it back up. Ryan stored the letter, committing the information to memory.
With a flick of his hand, Ryan deactivated the Reality Marble, returning to the inn room that now felt smaller compared to the Reality Marble.
