What makes it so interesting is that they both know about the history of the scam, but neither of them could have mentioned it in court because it would cost them the case.

This is true, but IMO Chuck's main issue with Jimmy is that he's clearly the favourite child even though Chuck was the one that always tried to do everything right and stay out of trouble. Once you feel that way about someone, you'll look for any reason you can to keep hating them, including things going back to childhood.

I agree mostly but isn't Jimmy taking some money just 1 thing that Chuck has been putting up with? Imagine the amount of b.s. Chuck has had to deal with Jimmy throughout his life. I love the relationship because its so complex that their really is no right answer.

I honestly couldn't even believe he was the same actor from This is Spinal Tap when we started watching the show! Such incredible range!

I don't think Jimmy is good person, but I think the comments that compare Saul Goodman from BB to the Jimmy we are seeing in "present" BCS is not a fair assessment. We do know all of the horrible things he gets into in the future, but that's not where he's at right now. I think that's why there is such a divide in the opinions of the show, it's all in the perspective of now versus where he ends up.

Yes!! Omg the address foreshadowing is insane writing! Wow, I hadn't thought about that for what Chuck wanted with Jimmy! I think he really just didn't want him to succeed out of shear jealousy. Yeah, I definitely think there's no way that Jimmy stole the full $14k! Was he right for lifting any of it, absolutely not, but Chuck is completely blaming Jimmy for what was likely his father's "generosity" to strangers!

Michael McKean is such a great actor. I just (re)watched This is Spinal Tap not that long ago and his David St Hubbins is nothing like Charles McGill and neither are they anything like his Lenny from Laverne & Shirley 😂

We're pretty much aware of Saul Goodman and we're now more aware that Chuck repeatedly used his position as a respected lawyer and the legal system to manipulate and effectively punish Jimmy because of his deep seeded resentment and jealousy of his younger brother. Chuck is largely responsible for Jimmy's transformation into Saul Goodman, as Chuck's constant criticism, manipulation, and undermining of Jimmy's career significantly contributed to Jimmy's decision to abandon ethical practices and embrace a more ruthless, "Saul Goodman" persona to prove himself and navigate a world where he felt constantly belittled by his brother; essentially, Chuck's actions is pushing Jimmy towards becoming the person he always feared he would be.

Its very easy to hate on Chuck, and Lord knows, you certainly dont hide any of your hate for him!!!:). But honestly....Chuck didnt tell a single lie here. EVERYTHING he said was 100% on the mark concerning Jimmy/Saul. Have we forgotten everything he did in BB?? He eventually turned out to be a "criminal" lawyer, exactly what Chuck predicted slipping Jimmy with a law degree would be.....a chimp with a machine gun - a chimp who is currently in hiding from the law in Nebraska! Jimmy is the "hero" of the show, yes, so its very easy to forgive every questionable act he commits and tear in to Chuck, but that doesnt mean he is without sin. Not even close.

I love how Chuck was willing to scam Rebecca in the past, because it was technically legal and it suited him. They even use the "mix up" with an address to explain why the power is out at Chuck's house. That's how Chuck was so certain that Jimmy switched the addresses on the Mesa Verde documents, because they pulled that same scam together in the past - but in a legal way. He leaves that part out at the hearing.
When I think about that, I think about what Chuck might have really wanted for Jimmy. He didn't want him to be a lawyer, because he wanted him to be his "guy". The guy he can go to that's willing to do unethical things when it comes to helping Chuck out with legal cases. He could have used Jimmy, while controlling him to keep him on the right side of the law.
As for the cash at their father's store, it's true that Jimmy probably lifted bills in small amounts over the years. We also know that his Dad was willing to help people out and hand them a 20 right out of the register, which would contribute even more to their losses over the years. I bet Chuck had no idea about that part.

Don’t get me wrong, there is a lot of great great stuff to come, but this is my favorite episode of the series. Chuck and Jimmy had to come head to head and their showdown exceeded all of my expectations.
Chuck may have won the early rounds with the tape recording, but because he doesn’t respect his brother, he completely underestimates him. He can’t imagine Slippin’ Jimmy will outsmart the great Chuck McGill. And then Chuck gets obliterated. In public, in front of Howard and his ex-wife. It’s all so incredibly satisfying.
