Really fun reactions this week. I can tell you two have really been into this season, which is awesome since this is one of my favorites.
Paulie getting pissed off at Vito over tupperware is priceless. And thinking Koreans were responsible for Pearl Harbor is priceless considering he served in the Army. Just Paulie in general made the most of all his screentime this episode lmao

The Tony B & Mr Kim and the Wegler & Carmela stories strikes me as part of the larger theme in this show that this world is so morally compromised and so, so insular, that when a character ventures out into the general population, it never goes well. Remember Tony thinking he could be friends with Dr Cusamano and his golf buddies, Chrissy trying to be a screenwriter, etc. There’s no getting out of this life; not because of some sworn oath, but because they’re all so throughly corrupted and venal and isolated that they have no hope of making it in the real world.

Yeah, I want to be in compliance. - I was just thinking we could take care of it right here, in Brainerd

Maybe it's because I treat some adolescents as well as adults, but I don't hate AJ like everyone else. He actually made a good point about the swearing which I think extends to other behavior. When was AJ supposed to learn how to how to control his anger and not be a jerk? Also, his dad is a mafia boss. Why the hell wouldn't he think cheating is ok? His parents say he's spoiled but they bend the rules any way they can so he never has to face failure. Many parents want to think they can instill good values in their children without them learning all their bad behaviors.
Also, I am laughing so hard at Carmela, I'm glad she's miserable. I remember her haranguing Sal's wife about the sacred vow of marriage when she wanted to get a divorce. Then she realizes it really fucking sucks not being allowed to experience love or intimacy because she took that "vow". I mean, she might as well leave the church and not be a hypocrite. I love when she gets so upset when she gets dumped and pretends like she wasn't doing what she was obviously doing.
Just watched after reaction. No Carmela knew what she was doing. She thought it wasn't a big deal. Remember she said something along the lines of "That's what friends do, they help each other out." Carmela has been so spoiled for so long that she thinks it's not a big deal to ask other people to be unethical for her advantage. Remember the letter of recommendation? Secondly, the teacher should have never pursued Carmela. He should have never dated Carmela if he had any power over AJ's grades. That's just unethical as all hell. Also, Carmela complains about the stigma of being the wife of a mafia boss, yet she sure loved the perks.

David Strathairn is also part of the incredible cast of The Firm (1993), along with Tom Cruise, Gene Hackman, Ed Harris, Holly Hunter, Wilford Brimley, Gary Busey, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Tobin Bell, and others!

Again, it’s great to “relive” and share this series with the two of you. Interesting to see that the great Peter Bogdanovich (Dr Melfi’s own shrink) directed episode 6. David Strathairn, who played the academic counselor has had an interesting career. Most of the time he has supporting roles, but he has one powerhouse leading role that should NOT be missed, in a movie called ‘Dolores Claiborne’. I feel pretty certain that you’ll never forget his character. He plays opposite Kathy Bates, and it’s one of the best thriller/dramas of the past 30 or so years. Not to mention, it’s a Stephen King story. I think it’s one of the three best King adaptations, with the other two being Kubrick’s ‘The Shining’, and ‘The Shawshank Redemption’.
